Earning with Cracked Software = Haram ?

What I meant to say by material cost is that there is no extra cost to the dev after making the software. Yes there are a lot of development expenditure but downloading a torrent does not directly harm anyone.

One thing I simply fail to understand.
You say you have been earning money through it for a really long time, through cracking software and using it for software development, earning money and getting through your daily life through that mean, yes?
You also feel conflicted that you are doing something wrong because you did not pay for it, while that breaks the ethical bounds certainly, but as " obvious " or rationalised it may seem, you will not receive the right answer to it if you do not consult the RIGHT people I.E Scholars.
Here is my suggestion: PAY FOR IT, a very simply way to get rid of your guilt, no? You've been earning so long through this, as you say. So you can certainly pay for original software and windows. Complication? Don't have enough money? Well, you can SAVE money everyday with the intention of buying it ( this will not rid you of your wrong, nor is this an Islamic solution ) and simply buy it after a while. I don't see why this is not possible, instead of fretting about it.

Stealing is not allowed in Islam, end of story. There are no ifs and buts. You steal, you burn in hell. You're only making excuses by bringing in economy and purchasing power. It's very clearly mentioned in Quran NOT to steal.

The difference is pretty simple. If I steal your mobile phone then you can no longer use it and are deprived from your belonging. However if I pirate your software then I didn't do you any harm. And don't tell me you lost on potential revenue because to say that a pirate would have paid if he couldn't pirate is a far fetched assumption.
