welcome to the dark side! the battery thing could be an issue (if your mobile is used) or just some software glitch.. the quickest way i would say is to export your contacts from windows phone as a .vcf and then import on Android..however if your phone doesnt support that then try moving them to your google accountI've joined the android brotherhood too yay

had a freak out where the battery suddenly drained from 90 to 1, then after plugging in the charger it went back to 100% in a few minutes, is this a bad sign ?

The issue with the battery hasnt (and will never) happened. Hopefully it was just a one time freak out.
Phone's running great on 4.4.4 .. i enabled developer options and turned off the menu animations and everything feels much faster and snappier now.

ahh i just checked my mom's lumia 800 and it turns out you cant just export a .vcf file from windows phone. However there is still the bluetooth transfer as well as the email one. Bluetooth should be pretty easy.
As for the email transfer, sync the contacts on windows phone to your hotmail id. After that you have to login to your hotmail account on your PC and Export the contacts as a csv file (should be under People in your Outlook/Hotmail) Once the csv file is created and stored on your PC, login to your gmail account and Import that file (should be under Contacts) Importing the file will add all those contacts to your gmail account. Just sync that gmail account with your android device, go to Contacts on your device and choose Import from there

Ever since I got my s5. Notifications from talatalk are not coming i have chexk its settings and they are fine. But i dont get notified when new reply is posted on my subscribe threads..anyone else having this?
Have you disabled Auto-Sync or Google Play Services?
Or have you installed a battery saving app?

Update my Nex 4 to Lollipop yesterday, the UI improvement was much needed as we have been stuck to a similar interface since long time.
The interactivity of the notification bar has some science to it, it feels way lively than it should. Its evident that a heavy amount of research went into the material design UI. It doesn't feel static, it looks more like a physical notepad which some people keep with them to track activities.
The recent apps tab, lags just for a fraction of a second as it minimizes the active windows I can't say if its the hardware or the firmware needs a bit more polish as I never experienced any sort of lag on 4.4.4.
The little animations here and there add a beautiful touch of interactivity, feels pleasant. The lock screen notifications are good as well, eliminates the need to install a third party lockscreen app.
The dislikes I have so far are,
- The lockscreen animation, loved the previous one on 4.4.4 ... this one? Not so much.
- The UI makes the 4.7" screen feel small, IDK if its an intentional move from the designers to trigger subliminal signals to upgrade our phone to a bigger screen one.
Thats it so far, I have yet to try heavy apps and judge the performance and the battery consumption as well.

Old hardware, and slower NAND is the reason. You will start to feel some brief slow downs once you spend a few days with it.
We can safely assume so, with the release of a 6 incher Behemoth in the name of Nexus.
