Can we please have a serious debate in the country about putting controls on Pakistani censors? These goddamn self-righteous idiots are out of control.

How would you feel if the government had free hand to censor the media at will? We have got one of the most intellectually decrepit populations in the world if they can idly stand by as government after government fucks around letting their country rot and then allows those same governments any sort of access to what information can or cannot be accessed by its people. Are there any regulations on what gets blocked? Is there a published list of blocked material for review?

People don't fucking realize that the bullshit Pakistan has unilaterally pulled, blocking services that put tens of millions effectively out of a means for mass coordination and dissemination of opinions, would spark revolts in freer countries. The protests and brutal abuses of power in Turkey and Ukraine weren't reported on, they were live-streamed. China's top bigwigs who got fired after decades of breaking the law got so because someone was able to leak word online. The Arab Spring didn't happen because dictators got generous with media freedom, it happened because those idiots didn't understand the power of a free internet.

Just remember, when Saudi Arabia beheads people literally on charges of witchcraft or sedition or beats foreign workers senseless on a whim, things like this and this are blocked. When well-connected royalty goes on a drunken rampage or keeps literal slaves(according to human trafficking monitors, there are over 450,000 slaves in KSA who coincidentally don't get to say anything about their situations), they have ample damage control methods through state censorship if it gets out. When dissent starts welling up when people actually start to question fucked up idiocy they enforce in the name of religion, the government can erase any debate they lose. All of their censorship started in the name of Islam and morality. What a fucking joke. We're following the example of country run by people who not only allow this(and so much more), but protect it to inspire us how to be moral? Is this Islamo-fascist model our greatest aspiration?

When you allow someone to choose what is or is not too sensitive for your viewership past childhood, you are basically admitting that you lack the mental capacity to make any informed judgement on anything. You are admitting that your belief system or worldview is so flimsy any disagreeable material will erode it. And you are such a feral manchild, you will throw a tantrum and break things until someone stops confusing you. Because isn't that what we're thinking of when we block things? To pacify these mongoloids instead of facing them or teaching them...
What will you give up next because these fuckers say no?
There are books on fucking EVOLUTION and studies on pre-historic societies that are blocked in Pakistan... and this is just abuses that I've personally found. People report sites with anti-military or anti-anycertainpowerfulindividual material getting stamped out on an alarming basis. There are articles saying up to 200,000 IPs were blocked in just 2011.

WE ARE TRUSTING A(Not our, A) GOVERNMENT WITH THIS POWER WHY?

We're one of the few nations on Earth left with a literacy rate below 80% outside Africa(even though our definition of literacy is embarrassingly generous compared to the UNESCO one other countries use), a nation whose leadership has lead it to a crippling energy crisis, a nation dealing with long-term financial fuckup-ery resulting in defaults barely avoided year after year only because of IMF rescues, steadily skyrocketting inflation and an environment even Pakistanis don't want to invest in, a severely mishandled problem with violent extremism and terrorism, ecological disasters affecting tens of millions set to happen within the next 20-30 years, corruption and incompetence with few peers, and our nation is DEAD SET with an exceedingly efficient PTA perfecting tools to decide what you can or cannot see. WHY DOES THIS NOT SET OFF ALARM BELLS? Its only while their teeth are blunt that they're going to be content to go after simply porn sites and any material they need to appease your average belligerent mullah with an IQ of 80 and no education except madrassa. Years later, with that power in their hands, the next dictator will make his opening move be to silence the web.

I would suggest if you find new VPNs don't run to this thread and write the name and link here. This would only accelerate the banning process.

I don't see any logic here. If they are willing to go complete psychopath on level of banning VPNs, Simply opening youtube will take much less resources.

Not they are blocking hundreds of VPNs (Useful for many cases, not just youtube) all in the name of blocking just one site.

They're not blocking VPNs because of youtube. They're blocking them because they allow easy circumvention, making any resources or future effort poured into censorship futile.

If there's one thing that makes me secretly happy about this bullshit we've been seeing for years, its that they're training people to not take their freedom to information as a given. They seriously fucked up when they banned porn and youtube. Now everyone and their nani will learn how to get around censorship.

Dude we need to start a revolution against this.

State on one side - mullahs on the other. DO NOT mix the two. If they want Sharia law - then follow it properly - Sharia does not allow blockage of knowledge... nor does it tolerate corruption.

When I see news like This (Pope: Internet Is a 'Gift from God' for Dialogue | Top Tech News) - makes me wonder what have these molvis done to the most modern religion.

Islam being the youngest of all the major religion is the most modern. In its peak days Muslims were the most literate - but now look at us.

Lets stand up against this oppression - it's even hurting businesses let alone home users...

Lets start a fuckin revolution - Free internet - freedom... fuck these illeterate molvis ruining and insulting this beautiful religion of Islam. Hang those bastards and look at them run and quiver in fear... same fear they have created amongst the nation....

They killed Salman Tehseer - 50 million will rise up against their stupid Blasphemy law...!!!

let's not forget how on Nov 21st IMDB had gone under for one day, and when it came back online only one page in particular was inaccessible:
The Line of Freedom (2013) - IMDb

this whole thing is a perfect example of how these thugs can very silently blank-out certain information from you and would be none the wiser. propaganda is such a nebulous concept that you can nearly attach it to any definition as long as it takes an opposing stand to your own, and have you persecuted. that is what's truly scary about all this.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.
