Skype gets integrated within the Messaging app in Windows10

it would be really interesting to see the likes of WhatsApp and Facebook follow along, and allow users to use the messaging app to get in touch with their contacts without switching apps often. Interesting, isn't it?

I wish they also do it with Desktops and not just Windows Phone. This will be a very very handy feature.

All in all, this was a good presentation. I like how they're streamlining the interface across all platforms. Windows 10 on the phone looks very similar to that on the PC.

My streaming was choppy so I missed out on a great deal. I'd like to get some hands-on experience using the Spartan browser before forming an opinion.

Streaming Xbox One game on the PC looks neat. Very similar to Steam's streaming service I believe. I was hoping they would announce porting certain Xbox games over to the PC but I guess this wasn't the correct platform for such an announcement. The new Fable was already multi-plat, no?

I missed social media integration on the WP8. MS shouldn't have taken that feature out. Glad they're bringing some part of it back in the form of Skype integration. It's a very handy feature when chatting.

Windows 10 might well be the next big thing out of Redmond. I have high hopes.

Cortana is coming to the PC with Windows 10

  • the digital assistant has learned seven different languages
  • handles almost all the queries without any glitches, tracking flights, stock information, sports news, and more.
  • you can use Cortana to search your system for images, and even launch apps
  • You even type the name of the app, and Cortana will filter and show you the app (If it's not installed, it will show you the store listing so you can install the app.)
  • can be used to send emails to their contacts
  • The capability will be released for insiders in the next few months

I'm still not sold over the idea behind virtual assistants like Cortana. I get things done faster when typing on a keyboard. Cortana is, at the end of the day, a glorified search assistant after all.

Windows 10 will allow Xbox One games to be streamed to any PC

You can use your Xbox One controller to play the games, or a mouse and keyboard. This will allow gamers to play their favorite games on even more devices than before. Windows 10 is also coming to Xbox One, which was announced by Microsoft today. This will allow universal apps to run across both Xbox One and PC.

Microsoft announces Windows Holographic and Microsoft HoloLens ~ NO JOKE

  • This is very futuristic. Right now, it requires a special headset which goes over your eyes. The headset will then display the holographs in the real world. The device is called Microsoft HoloLens.
  • Holographic support is also build into Windows 10
  • It works with games, objects, meetings, photos and more.

for an YEAR, after that probably lock ur windows down and cortana would stop speaking to us :( and would demand full payment otherwise NO SHOW !
You misunderstood the notion of 'free upgrade'. The offer to upgrade will be free for all Win 7/8/8.1 users for up to one year. If anybody decides not to go through with the upgrade within that stipulated time, he will have to pay to do so later on.

In short, the upgrade will be for life and permanent. All things said, the possibility of such an offer was on the cards but I'm still surprised somewhat. What's the catch?

The Xbox One streaming to any and all windows 10 devices is HUGE win. If I had a PS4 I probably wouldn't have bought the Vita just for remote play. But a free Windows that supports streaming my xbox games? Sure I'll probably use it a hell lot.

Is it confirmed that Mouse + Keyboard support will be there? Or have they restricted you to use your XB1 controller with the PC as well?

@USUF

As for the Xbox One game streaming to W10 PCs and tablets, sadly controls cannot be translated to mouse and keyboard, so an Xbox controller will be required. Given an Xbox One is also required, I guess you’re going to have that controller anyway if you’re using this feature.

Also, we’re told that more Xbox One games will be coming to PC in addition to the already-announced Fable Legends, but no names or dates on that yet.

No KB/Mouse support for streaming. Although more Xbox titles are expected to be released on the PC and cross-platform play is supported.

Bummer.

But I can see the reason why they did that. FPS games being played with KB/M would have destroyed the online communities.
