No clue bro, I spoke to PTCL help line, the local line man and exchange people, every1 is clueless..

No surprise there, they are always clueless.

What I did notice is that this issue popups on my end whenever there is a " Bijli ka jhatka " from wapda, like last night after a jhatka my UPS kicked in and right away I saw line stats to drop and shitty net as an end result. So maybe there is a connection with the unannounced loadshedding, PTCL backup batteries and the obsolete PTCL infrastructure which breaks down every other day!!!

I did a workaround by switching to G.Dmt on the router settings ( as described on the 2nd post on page 1) but then my download goes down to 8mb from 16mb ( my connection is 16mb) the net works but is quite slow. No clue what the actual hell is going on with PTCL but people working there don't know anything.

Have you checked at your own end by connecting your Modem directly to a proper SineWave UPS (non-modified) like that of APC etc. Sometimes home UPS like modified sinewave ones create issues and disruptive noise

If a mod. sine wave UPS was causing so much noise, it wouldn't sync at stable 8mbps either. [MENTION=125188]Mr Kay[/MENTION] your modem on G.DMT only syncs at 8192 downstream with SNR above 10? Is your modem the PTCL fiberhome one?

Sure, it wouldn't hurt to try that

The modem is Sagemcom F@st 1704N . When I change settings to G.Dmt the SNR goes from 3 to 21. ( a rather big jump) The downstream however drops, from 24000 kbs to 8000.

Only thing confusing me is this despite the downstream and SNR variations....When I switch to G.Dmt the Output Power goes to 17. On all other settings it stays at 0.
1 last question, whats the disadvantage of running my net on G.Dmt setting besides the lower downstream rate?

I'll suggest trying to use a different modem to test. And there's no disadvantage in using G.DMT (other than the one you mentioned), its just an older standard.

Your upload is synced at 153 where as it should be 1024+, email/msg ptclcares or lodge a complaint at 1218.

Try changing ADSL mode to g.DMT and check if it improves.

If you're on 1mbps or 2mbps at the moment with that SNR then no. First get the line reconditioned and if that increases SNR to >20 then opt for 4mbps. For improvement in line, send in a message to twitter.com/PTCLCares

The value which you should see is interleaver depth. Its 1, which signifies fast data path.

Really getting tired of PTCL...Anyways guys I need ur input. I have a 12mb broadband ptcl..and my modem page shows it too. Since last night however my profile has been changed to 6mb!! How is this possible? On speedtest.net I am getting very low speed aswell. My SNR etc is fine. Can they just randomly change my profile like that?
