Why do Pakistani cars never get a immobilizer?

My theory is that these manufacturers WANT your cars to get stolen, so that they can sell more units to you. The common thinking between these capitalists about a common man, is that "if they can buy one car, they can buy another one too".

But really, in a country where Theft and Snatching is at a high rate, not putting in Immobilizer is the worst thing to do.

It comes with the job.

I looked at the "harsh reality" perspective of this argument, and also the "pristine capitalist" approach.

Bike manufacturers are continuously decreasing their quality for increased profits. The quicker a bike will go kaput, the faster they'll sell out a new unit. Same goes for car manufacturers.

Do you have a better view on this problem?

I dont think they 'want' our cars to get stolen. It's just a cost saving measure. A poor one, but a measure none the less.

Well then by that logic having no air bags means they want us to suffer a serious injury because they've cut a deal with local hospitals.
Maybe. They aren't gonna come forward with this. And ofcourse, if "we" think along these lines then we'll be tagged as "paranoid".

They can get away with it because there are no laws in our country restricting these f*cking manufacturers to provide maximum safety and security. Govt bhi 1 dum chawal hay. Consumers bhi majboor hain.

On earth...Lahore
its common, car companies don't care what happens to the consumers after they have done buying from them. jis nay leni hay woh lega, by not putting in an immobilizer they gain cost reduction in total manufacturing saving them money and who cares what happens to the car after one has bought from them right ? its not their headache LOL typical pakistani behaviour...

btw how exactly does this immobilizer works ? i mean i get this car and lock thingie in my prius i only once heard the alarm go off etc like the us one u know car started honking for a minute etc after that never got it to work ! my servant accidentaly somehow made it go off. dunno how while washing the car.

anyways Newton yeah city would bea bit late than corolla

yeh kaun say city or toyota kee baat kar rahay iss thread may? the ones which are new, as in new shape ya phir jo pichlay kuch salon say chal rahee hain?

i have both 1.3 gli and 1.3 city right now(2012 models both) and are in pristine condition like brand new...

gli has a better interior than the city... although the material is the same but gli is better in many ways

city is more nimble and feels more agile with its slightly better power steering and smaller size and lighter weight and all this with narrower stock tyre size... gli feels like a truck really

city's gear box is softer and easier... gli's gear box is heavier and harder and really feels like a truck

city has a much much harder and uncomfortable suspension than gli... the gli is so damn smoother and the biggest of pits feel like nothing at whatever speed... gli is a much stronger and durable car as well

city's acceleration is faster although not smooth and quite inconsistent at different rpms... gli's acceleration is super smooth but a truck with 1.3L is not going to break records....

on motorway.... gli starts wobbling at around 110kph due to extreme air drag... changing rims and tyres made a lot of differnce on road grip and i now drive it at 160kph on motorway... never drove city on motorway or above 100kph but as far as i have heard it is more stable at high speeds and more in control...

braking... both have abs but the brake of gli is much much much better/smoother/stronger... very good brakes... even though city is smaller and lighter, the brakes aren't as strong and "immediate" if that is the right term...

overall... i feel like cruising in gli although a bit dull but damn comfortable... when i drive city i don't enjoy it that much even with its pluses... i need to get some good allow rims and softer tyres to make it better...

A sane review (y) Pretty much exactly what I tell people, depends on ones preferences.

Hard suspension of city is more stable on motorway. You cant have your cake and eat it too. City is more fuel friendly.
City has better looks(although looks are subjective, some people love the cowrolla). Build quality is superior.
Interior of corolla is better definitely. Ride is softer but you can make citys ride soft by using the Michelin xm2 amd alloy rims.
The power gain on city is satisfying.
I found city's breaks better. I have driven both cars on pristine condition.
To be honest instead of corolla if you Want softer ride go for idsi city. It has everything new corolla has to offer :)

yes i plan to shift the city to good rims and tyres for softer ride....
the build mught be better on the inside on city but exterior is rougly the same... the suspension is a lot more durable on corolla though... i agree with everything other than brakes part... my corolla has some awesome breaks even though city hss some good brakes as well... it may feel better on the city due to the lighter weight but it aint really imho.... overall, city is better value for money... fuel economy feels to be better on corolla to me too due to some reason maybe the bigger capacity makes it feel that way...

The only downsides of City in my opinion is that it is just not cut out for rough roads. I've personally only driven it to Muzaffarabad once and even then I could feel that it wouldn't be able to take a whole lot more of those roads. I went to Bagh, AJK for 2 days on my 2001 2.OD Corolla on unbelievably bad roads and it performed like a champ.

Secondly is its extremely annoying tendency to suddenly become completely powerless. With total 4 people in the car and AC on, I could not take it into the 3rd gear during the salt range because there was literally no power in it at all. Compare that to my 2001 2.OD Corolla which can easily go through the same road in 4th gear with 5 people + AC + a trunk full of luggage.

Saw the first 2014 Corolla today, near Agha Khan hospital.
Are these rolling out now?

For a sec I thought it was an Accord (from the front) till it got near.

Nope, Altis will 'officially' launch in mid July and then other variants by the end of the year.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
