So my folks live abroad and were planning to come to Lahore in Eid to visit relatives etc. But everyone in Lahore is telling them not to come because the dengue scene is pretty bad. Theyre saying that all the roads are deserted at night, no one leaves their homes after maghrib bla bla bla. So, just wondering, those of you who live in Lahore, is it really THAT bad? or has it subsided. My grandmom is in Lahore and she knows a couple of people who have died cuz of dengue. What do you guys think?

If you take precautionary measures, theres nothing Dengue can do to you. Wear full sleeved clothes at the maghrib till post sunrise times. Keep house fumigated (properly. Not the diluted shit this government is spreading will which only make it worse). Many people have died because of Dengue, but let me tell you one thing, they all were the ones who did not care about it and let it go by. Dengue itself will just cause fever and rapidly decrease human immunity, that is where the other problem sets in. If a person is a patient of any other known problem, say heart disease, breathing difficulties, tonsillitis and rapid throat infections (like me), then dengue will leave a significantly greater impact, and a possible cause of death, again, carelessness. If God forbid, you DO get Dengue, you just have to keep the fever low and consume lots of liquids.

Karachi may bhi Dengue phela tha back in 2006? but that doesn't mean people should stop visiting their loved ones etc. By Eid, Dengue should have subsided too due to the cooling temps. Else i'm pretty sure this strain of mosquitoes will be finished by Mid December at the latest.

lahore dude
two people have died that i know of(a friend of my cousin and a friend of my brother both in their 20s)... also i have seen how my young 16 year old cousin suffered... he was taken care of from day 1 in omer hospital in a vip room but you cannot imagine the pain he suffered... 104degree temperature for 10 consecutive day and it hit the seriously dangerous 106 mark almost everyday... his condition was unbearable to see especially as his father has died just a few months ago from liver cancer... and it wasn't just dengue he got... our dengue machar has evolved... it is coming with 3 diseases in one now... dengue, typhoid and malaria all in one(my cousin got all three)... and this is not it.. i have seen my brother in law and sister's mother in law suffer the same fate and also my mother(who was in itekaf when it happened)... you tell me that is it serious??

After seeing all this on news channel i got really scared and started many precautions like using mospel, mortin less outside activities and inside if i see one mosquito i spree my whole house with Kingtox anti insecticide so that if he has larvae hidden anywhere they all can be killed before they hatch. recently i saw one mosquito in my bedroom and i just run to get spray can and start hunting that mosquito but he\she saw me coming to him and fly up like mad and my ceiling fan kill him that was really satisfying moment for me.

One more thing guys i have read on many webs that Dengue mosquito bites on day time.

Dengue is basically a Viral infection. IT just causes runny nose, cough, headache that settles in 1-2 weeks just like a normal flu... But the people who die R those who somehow develop superimposed infection ( Individual has dengue and is bitten again by another mosquitoe causing even severe infection).
DEngue is harmful but in 99% of patients it heals just like a simple viral infection.. People who r dying represent only 1% of doze infected..

And ultimately,,, Its a sort of govt propaganda... 3/4 people dying of dengue is an issue where as DAILY >10 children die of malaria and >20 from diarrhea for which they only need O.R.S.
We r unable to prevent the diseases like polio which r eradicated from most countries...
ITs just a hype regarding dengue..... Trsu me.. ull be safe inshallah... Just take precautions.

And yes DENGUE is a day biting mosquitoe...It actually tends to bite at dawn.

It is very serious indeed. Almost everyone i know in lahore is infected , or was. Just came last week, went to murree straight after landing. It is safer to delay for now and wait till november.

The media is under exaggerating . Punjab Government has strictly ordered all the hospital authroties not to disclose the figure of dengue patients. There are x2 more cases of deaths and infected in lahore than what the media is reporting. Those in Lahore from here tend to not care but those who are infected or their relatives know what dengue really is and how dangerous it can be. Avoid it for now.

As for dengue biting timings, it's ridiculous. One can say they are more active between two times of fajr and maghrib but it is a wrong conception that they do not bite in any other time. Compare it to humans, we usually take meals in afternoon and night - but surely dine or snack in between . Same is with everything or with mosquitos mostly.

your relatives probably dont like you to visit. because apart from media exaggeration and illiterate people rushing to hospitals. i dont feel anything wrong here. yes parks are deserted though.

just to clear i am not saying there is no dengue here, its just life is normal as it is used to be.

The answer is RESISTANCE...... What govt is using in sprays is a chemical what has been used for the past 100 years and the insects r literally resistant to doze... Instead its a a meal for insects. lol....
And as always there r fake chemicals as well.. with benefeciaries making hell alot of Haram money....

Inshallah u will be fine but its the SPECIAL feature of mosquito to bite at dawn ( Aedes Agypti ) - Referance COMMUNITY HEALTH SCIENCES ( BY DR ILYAS)

And a very important thing... Every fever is NOT dengue... and dengue can only be diagnosed after 5 days of fever..( just for information)
