=====================================================================

I still remember the first 2mb video card that I put in my 286 system... tho it didn't do jack (I was playing Prince of Persia back then), it did however make a difference when after a couple of years later I put a RIVA TNT (with a whopping 8MB!!!!) and fired up Carmageddon 1... mind=blown! Even the movies ran better! What was this magic?? does one little periphral card make that much of a difference? Turns out it does and since then over the years I have spent thousands of rupees just on these devices that have a pretty good chance of burning out after a year, or become obsolete after two...

This post is dedicated to all my fellow GPU buyers to list their first as well as all used since then!

I'll get the ball rolling:

  1. Riva TNT (8mb, sold)
  2. Riva TNT 2 (16 mb, sold)
  3. ATI Radeon 7200 (64 mb, blown)
  4. Nvidia 6600 (128 mb, blown)
  5. Nvidia 7950 (512 mb, blown)
  6. GT 9800 (512, blown)
  7. AMD HD 6670 (1GB, current)
(I suspect our friends in upcountry are gonna post much less blown cards due to the temp difference b/w their cities and KHI lolz! )

5. Ati HD 4890 1GB (sold). not a gud experience frankly.

Woah, this is gonna be a toughy.

First one was a Voodoo. Was it a 2? Was it a Banshee? I don't perfectly recall. I was 11 then :p

1) Voodoo
2) TNT2 Vanta
3) Geforce 2
4) Geforce 3 Ti200
5) Geforce FX5700
6) ATi Radeon 9600XT
6) Geforce 6600 (Only card I fried)
7) Geforce 6600GT
8 )Geforce 8600GT (PC gaming took a back seat to PS3)
9) ATi Radeon 4850 (4870 equivalent something - bought from abobobilly :p )
10) nVidia Geforce GTX260 (for PhysX baby)
11) ATi Radeon 4890 (Hardware enthusiasm getting the best of me and my bucks)
12) nVidia Geforce GTX470

There were some temporary placeholders in between too, but I don't distinctly remember them.

My list:

01. S3 ViRGE GX2 4 MB
02. Riva TNT 16 MB [Upgrade - Amazing experience]
03. Riva Vanta 16 MB [Downgrade - Bad experience]
04. GeForce2 MX 200 32 MB [Upgrade]
05. GeForce2 MX 400 32 MB [Upgrade]
06. GeForce2 Ti 32 MB [Upgrade]
07. GeForce 6800 128 MB (16pp & 6vp) [Upgrade - Nice experience]
08. GeForce 8800 GS 384 MB [Upgrade - Nice experience]
09. GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896 MB [Upgrade]
10. GeForce GTX 460 1024 MB [Upgrade - Amazing experience]

All (red) highlighted graphics cards gave very good performance. These have proven to be bang for the buck products in true sense.

- The shift from S3 ViRGE GX2 to Riva TNT was simply mind blowing.
- Both Riva TNT and GTX 460 proved be amazing performers.
- GeForce2 Ti and GeForce 6800 were most feature-rich.
- GeForce 6800 was the most tweakable graphics card.

My next one would be a high-end Kepler, inshallah.

Wow!! Realllly comforting to know I'm not alone amongst all the modern day yuppies with their 2gig cards x2 and zillion gigahertz BUS speed LOL!

All kidding aside, anybody got any pics of the old hardware?? It'd really make all our day to see those rusted old hardware pieces :)

Cheers!!

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
