ets put it this way:
suppose you steal a taxi and now are using it to earn money. is it okay to do so?
the root cause of means of earning was wrong and imo nothing good comes out of it in the long run.
nowadays you have cloud based services which are cheaper then buying at once (Adobe's cloud based software for e.g. costs wayyy less than retail price)

one point ...
what u finally make ... is it also used for some real constructive purposes ... like making some software for banking system which is already based on INTEREST ... then how u will justify ur final product ... cause one knows whom he is making that stuff for ...
i suggest u guys must see GODs must be crazy ...
God made man ... but man made systems to make his life simpler but it takes 16 to 20 yrs of education just to become able to run those things ...
So you don't allow a non muslim into your taxi because he would give you money. But on the other hand if the taxi itself is stolen and you take money from everyone. Which side are you on ?

man i do solid modelling in more than one software (inventor, ProE, etc) .. (quite good at it) .. i can do FEA , CFD (ANSYS, FLUENT) simulations .. have published papers of it now .. but if we dont have cracked softwares .. atleast in my time in NED we didnt even heard of these softwares .. rather get good working experience .. so stop bothering about it .. learn and when earn u will probably be doing a job somewhere .. so the facilities u have to work on is not ur problem ...
dont try to bother about any dumb mulla about it (the type who says DNA test r nor right) .. warna humaray mulla tu TV etc ko shatan ka dabba keh chukay hain !! ..

This is the best example given in this thread!

Its already established Cracking isn't an economical problem, but an ethical one. I myself crack games, and some small utilities which are used once or twice at most like forensic software to recover lost data.

My opinion is if you are going to make some personal non-profit use of a software and may not need it on regular basis, than it doesn't hurt. But earning through such software as 90% of our market and corporate and gov is doing. Than what's your justification ?. There are perfectly good Open source alternatives.
Mankind is unique, you put something behind a lock and they won't sleep for the rest of their lives without trying to find out what's behind the lock, even if there is nothing behind it.

We go by things that are famous and popular and those famous and popular things have a price tag, we can't afford it but WE need it, so we crack it and keep it.

The question of whether earning is haraam or not is simple. You obtained the software through illegal means. The software contains the hardwork of others and not yours. Hence you do not have the authority to sell that software and claim the profits. EULAs and TOS clearly state about distributing, reselling, re-engineering etc.

There are many still out there who will come out and fight that they too are working hard to sell and make their earning legal, things like downloading a big file, buying blank CDs/DVDs, hence claiming the term 'investing' for such purposes.

In the end it's all a matter of perspective from one's own view keeping in mind the ethical and religion's value and teachings.

I find those type of justifications as haraam ko halal karke khana, there's a verse in the Qur'an for that I believe.

Even the lady's you see everyday are forbidden to watch.
Talking to a "Na-Mehram" Aurat is haram.

Like a guy here said, If you bring this thing up, just go die before you do anymore haram stuff

All these companies should sell their software in pakistan with a price that reflects our economy, purchasing power and poor currency if they really want us to not pirate. But obviously these companies don't care so why should we? Remember software has no material cost to it so you aren't harming anyone. When you steal something you deprive someone of their belonging, this does not happen with software.

Under the Mercy of the Creator
actually it's a complex question..
these types of questions leads us to think that after all some how some where deep or shallow we are consuming or doing things which are haram.

The points of above post are valid but it's also true that the program that we are using if for free would have contributed to the developer's revenue if we had "bought it", we deprive the Developer from that money.
Also Software 'has' a material cost. Making a complex program (like a game) or any other software requires immense Time, Power (Power consumption), Capital Expenditure (Expensive rendering Hardware), labor (Effort) to complete.
Also we have a choice 'not' to use a pirated software if we can't buy it....

although the debate has no use because most of us (incl me) use pirated programs daily. Not only that but we (incl me) do so much haram in our lives (knowing or not knowing) daily.
partly our conscience has died and partly because the "End" is near.

i can only hope and pray sincerely that may ALLAH enlighten us and help us get out of all wrong (haram) in our lives.

Personally i see only one game that should be truly deserving of GOTY title this year (if it delivers). And that's KCD:II

  • XPremiuM XPremiuM:
The gameplay is generic & outdated in that game. And it's 5 hour campaign is too short to enjoy.

About Hellblade 2, I just watched the story on a YT channel out of curiosity and I think it has the Hallmark of a GOTY this year. While many criticize the game and I also don't like this genre of game, I believe the story and visuals looks like a cenimatic masterpiece.
It may win the "best visuals" category, but that's about it. A GOTY contender needs to nail all aspects (Story, Gameplay, Visuals, etc)

Just downloaded Farm Simulator 2024. The game is available for free on Epic fo limited time. I always wondered how our food is harvested. This game endorsed by the UN will reveal the process of farming.

That's still higher than it's total play length. A 5 hour campaign for a $50 game is downright scammy.

Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.
The cross gen era really made people think 60fps would be a new standard lol

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.
