MULTI Dont turn off your console during saving......!!! THE HORROR!!!

couldnt find a better name for this thread but anyways here it goes.....as we all know that during game saving we always get this warning that dont turn off ur console but as WAPDA is so generous in giving us electricity that it can go anytime!!! Now of all my 10-12 years of gaming, only once I faced this problem when some stupid kid came and the power cord of my PS2 was ripped off during saving (those were the good old days, no load shedding) So anyways I turned on my console again and it gave me error that the save file is corrupted...........luckily I was in the initial stages so wasnt a big deal, although I cant recall what game that was..........so the question is WHAT REALLY HAPPENS IF GOD FORBIDS ELECTRICITY GOES DURING SAVING???? Share ur thoughts and experience if u had any!!!

Saving takes only 2-3 seconds. An unscheduled power outage during that time is highly improbable.

yes I know but what if electricity goes off during those 2-3 seconds!!!!!!!!!! You cant be lucky everytime!!! And mostly all game these days have autosave feature!!

I remember having my saves corrupted a couple of times on my PS2 but it doesn't happen on the 360, I've seen the power go out while saving half a dopzen times but the save never gets corrupted.

Dix is just a strange factor runnin in mind...light used to go alternate after hours in lahore wen last 5 mins left in copleting hours i used and tried to play quick for searching a save...hehehe...n dix waz even more freaky den fighting the final boss in da game

Oh it happens alright, it happens on the PS3.

I've lost a friends CoD save and another one which didn't really matter.

Tell that to my Demon's/Dark Souls save files that have fallen victim unscheduled power outages. :_<

thats a sigh of relief!!!! It doesnt matter during the initial stages but suppose u r in the last stages and ur whole save file is corrupted.......just thinking about me gives me goosebumps!! :rip:

i lost save file of assassin creed 2 on pc due to loadshadding. I was near the end of game. i still dont know the ending of assassin creed 2.

I rarely experienced it on Xbox 360, can't say more about PS3. Although i did lose a couple of unimportant saves on 360 + my brother lost his hard work in Fifa Street due to shutting down console during saving but it is very rare IMO.

Never experienced such a problem on PS3 here in Pakistan. Although unexpected loadshedding has occurred many times during my gaming sessions and saving and such.

You never know when Loadshedding may strike in Pakistan, that's why I always make backups of my save files when I'm playing large RPGs like SKYRIM or FInal Fantasy so that I don't lose tens of hours of gameplay.

The save files can get corrupted in some cases... If you are lucky enough it won't... I always wondered about it... But it never happened...

i have lost entire finished saved game datas cause of this,to be specific,the game was BF3,lost all the data of SP and MP!! file corrupted.Then i found the wonders of cloud storage

I always keep a back up save on every game that allows manual save. So if the lights go out during one save file, the back up will save me from starting all the way from the beginning.

When saving games, consoles are performing at peak and for that ... from 1 second before saving till 1 second after saving, consoles cooling systems max out.

If power goes out ... the immediate loss of cooling will in most cases fry your console. It has happened quite a few times. Most of the RROD and YLOD cases you hear in Pakistan are actually victims of loadshedding.

i just had one recently since due to ramazan im mostly spending my time gaming.

i was near platting a game on my ps3 when light went during autosave. DAMN everything went and had to start from scratch now i use the cloud save feature of the ps3 to upload saves after every session to not start from scratch atleast

well I used to make a backup of my saved game files on PC. PS3 owners have the benefit of cloud storage but what about Xbox 360 owners?? Is there any solution to back up my files?? please share!!

I've never had any such problems... Because there's never any loadshedding at my place (Yes, I've said it several times before, but I just want to emphasize on it xD )
