DLC for us console guys was inevitable. But the $15 price tag is a bummer. We already got the Limited Edition, you'd think the DLC would be free.
That sucks... paying 15 dollars for a few extra bosses.

CDPR is so awesome. They gave the Enhanced Edition to PC gamers FOR FREE.

Dark Souls won’t be optimised for PC: “Strictly a port from the console version”

Eurogamer have conducted an illuminating interview with Dark Souls producer Daisuke Uchiyama at E3. Sadly, it’s not good news. Dark Souls PC will still suffer from the technical issues that plagued the console versions, including the serious frame rate issues that affected certain sections of the game.
Oh dear.

“In terms of the PC version, the quick answer is no, [we won't be fixing the frame rate problems]. Because we wanted to get the PC version out as soon as possible,” said the producer.
“It’s more strictly a port from the console version. We haven’t been able to step up into doing any specific optimisation for PC.”
Daisuke told the website that time restraints and a lack of experience in PC ports is to blame: “To be completely honest, we’re having a tough time doing it due to our lack of experience and knowledge in terms of porting to PC. First we thought it would be a breeze, but it’s turned out not to be the case. We’re still developing right now – we’re crunching right now.”
From Software are bringing three new venues, four new bosses and additional weapons to the game in an attempt to compensate for the lack of optimisation.
Wow. My dreams of the definitive version of Dark Souls hitting PC on August 21st were just shattered. Porting framerate issues? Really? I appreciate that From Software might have encountered unexpected issues in development but I’d prefer a delayed release than a slightly shoddy one. And the threat of Games For Windows Live still lingers.
Petition time?

I don't understand, why they are even bringing it to PC. The greedy Namco just wants some extra dough outta the PC gamers.

It's sort of an experiment, if it sells well then expect a proper simultaneous release across all major platforms for the next game.

[h=1]Can You Run Dark Souls on PC?
[/h]

Looking forward to getting pummeled by colossal nightmare creatures on a PC? The hardware requirements for Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition, scheduled to launch on August 24, are listed on the game's Steam page. A particularly interesting part of the listing was the required microphone support, which would have been an interesting twist, but according to Eurogamer, the microphone portion of the listing was an error, and the PC version won't support in-game chat.
Here are the actual requirements:

  • OS: Windows XP , Windows Vista, Windows 7, or newer
  • Processor: 2.6 GHz Dual-Core
  • Memory: 1 GB (XP), 2GB (Vista/7)
  • Hard Disk Space: 4 GB
  • Video Card: 512 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 4850 or higher, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or higher
  • DirectX: 9.0c
  • Sound: Direct Sound Compatible

60 FPS please :'(

I can stand sub-par graphics but please give us an unlocked framerate! I won't touch the game unless they unlock the FPS. Because playing a game with even 30 FPS using a Mouse and Keyboard seems sluggish!

Frame rate is unlocked.
Just wanted to correct this. The frame rate is not unlocked. Not only is it locked at 30fps, but the native rendering resolution is also locked at 1024x720.

There is bad news which could hit PC gamers pretty hit hard, though. While the frame-rate's rough edges have been filed down, you're still going to be playing at 30FPS out of the box, as widely rumoured.
There's also something curious about the resolution too in that there's no change in clarity when attempting to crank up the settings. On close inspection, it appears that Dark Souls PC uses the very same 1024x720 internal framebuffer as the console versions, regardless of which resolution has been set in the menus. The option provided is for output resolution only; a simple courtesy to allow the game to play on most monitors, but the image quality will always remain the same. In short, PC gamers will very much be getting the genuine console experience here, right down to the pixel.

Meh, now I'll be passing out on this game <__<...

DS, learn something from the Alan Wake port!

Atleast FPS won't get hit in that blight town.

This is the graphical quality we'll get at 1080p resolution ... I pissed a little...

Though I might still play it, just to see what kind of sh***y experience console games have (in terms of FPS and Res) nowadays. Its been a long time since I played a 1:1 console game. Even the emulators give the option to improve native resolution of a game (check my Wiimulation thread).

But I am butthurt at this news <__<
