Why is barca spending so much money? what happened to la masia and home grown talent and all that crap
Tending to the weak points especially defense which has been warranting a refresh for at least 4 seasons. So far 3 of our players have left/retired and a few at in their twilight years with Barca B extremeley young at the moment. Its not like we never used to buy players before. So far we have sold Sanchez for Suarez, bought MAtS and Bravo for VV and Pinto, Mathieu for Puyol, Rakitic for Cesc/Xavi whilist promoting Rafinha, Masip and Deulofeu so we have gotten a good balance of Cantera players with other bought players

because La Masia hasn't developed a defender since.... well, since Puyol... and the midfield talent Barca had their hopes pinned on (Thiago) left for pastures anew when it was apparent he wouldn't be given the chance to show his worth from a starting position... a luxury that was fully afforded to his seniors, back in their day....

but the trend is apparent... for all the "stopgap" theory barca faithfuls might like to cook up, aside from the current crop of La Masia graduates (Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol, Busquets, Pedro, Mess [sue me if i'm forgetting someone]), Barca haven't really developed someone ready to take the team by storm.... one has to wonder whether the new graduates this season can stamp their authority.... so far, Luis Enrique's attitude seems to be leaning on him using these young players more, but with the marquee signings that Barca have made, i don't really understand who these players will actually replace.

I admit the defender draught is apparent but the current crop in Barca B right now is too raw ATM. There are many talents that would be making the jump as the old guard will be in their twilight years. Munir, Adama, Kaptoum, Tarin and Quintilla just to name a few

while i may agree on the fact that the new crop of players may have it in them to replace the old guard, the question remains: will they be given the chances to? thiago left for this very reason.... what's to say rafinha won't feel the same way 2 years from now, when a 36 year old xavi on crutches is preferred over him?

Xavi is most likely leaving for MLS this January which means we need Rafinha, Roberto and co to step up an take his place. Plus with Lucho the youth will get more playing time as he is more comfortable with them because he coached the same players in Barca B. You can't expect La Masia to make Xavi, Messi, Iniesta all the time now can you.

Sinking ship or identity crisis? The old guard was once raw too. But some crazy Dutch guy had the foresight to give them a chance.

It's all about risk barca can't afford to be out of la liga race for just one season or finish CL in round of 16 .
thats why the youngsters will never be given full fledge chance like LVG gave to xavi , iniesta , puyol etc , .
but Luis Enrique is academy man he knows all about it , if he would have been instead of Tito as barca head coach I bet thiago won't have left but instead he would have been playing first team football .
But now things will take time and you will see barca buying big players for 1-2 seasons before academy guys jump in again.

Actually the young guys right now have bareley had even one whole season with the B team. Most of Barca B last year was Juvinile A players called up or just promoted and some just weren't at the req level. We still have some promoted guys on the first team this season namely Sergi Roberto, Marc Bartra, Rafinha (Thiago's brother), Deulofeu, Masip and if they keep on track Lucho will probably call upon Kaptoum, Goodswill, Munir and Adama from the B-Team for first team matches in the CdR, lesser Liga teams and CL Group stages

dodgy penalty given to Liverpool.... replay clearly showed Jones got the ball before his momentum carried him into Sterling....

another funny thing was that incident where Rooney supposedly scored the third goal, and it was disallowed because the ball actually came into play from behind the goal.... smart move by the referee to consult the fourth official who had access to the replay

my god..young looks like a completely different player..I mean I was reminded of his aston villa days, and why man utd signed him.
Also Herrera has impressed in every game he has played.

Rooney was himself yesterday, a class apart. Even Shaw wasnt s***. It was a good game played out, liverpool desperately miss Suarez.

Referring in this whole tournament has been so-so.

I think all the Liverpool fans will disappear from sight next season.

It's just a feeling I have.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
