It seems to be normal for now, but sh** goes down every time I post a positive comment about PTCL.

So lets see how long this baby can hang in there.

according to official website of ptcl their FUP (Fair Usage Policy) for high speed bordband has changed . screenshots are here Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet
when they sold these high speed broadband connections they said it will be unlimited without any data cap and now they are imposing a cap of 300GB on these connections without informing customers. and if someone reach this cap of 300gb they have to pay 5000/- extra. i contacted 1218 their helpline they said there is no cap they transferred my call to 1236 they said there is no cap their floor supervisor on call said there is no cap on high speed broadband and is giving explanation that they are updating their website and they will take this issue with concern department .
now for me problem is which one of the official version i should believe if any one who is reading this post could help me i will be thankful

Does anyone know how ptcl delivers very high speed internet packages? I am using 12 Mbit on ONU line and i am running on limit, i was thinking of getting 30Mbit as no cable net is in my area but i am damn sure my line won't be able to handle that, i dunno even if two lines can do 30Mbit.

Theoretical limit for one ADSL2+ line is 24 Mbps downstream, and even achieving that would require you to have ideal like conditions and the shortest possible distance from the ONU.

By 2 lines if you mean DSL bonding, PTCL will probably never do that for home customers so no to that as well.

You can either ask them to get you a VDSL2 line, or a GPON connection, the latter being a bit more difficult to get.
However, I'm sure if you request for VDSL, they should be able to install it.

Many thanks for info, really appreciate it.
I know about the ADSL2+ limit and that's why i already said that i am running my connection on limit, my modem shows maximum achievable rate of 16 Mbps on my line and i am already using 12 Mbit without a problem so that's why i said it would be impossible to get 30 Mbit on that same line. And if my memory serves correct isn't VDSL is basically DSL on two different lines? I don't want that, i will ask them about GPON and if its available then i will get it.

Don't know exactly how the VDSL works here. Something with VDSL2 bonding. StrikerX can help you since he has VDSL.

However, ask them if a GPON connection is possible. I have a 30 Mbps GPON line and it's fantastic.

I really want to get PTCL GPON but how can I even know if it's available in my area? lol No offense to PTCL staff but I messaged them about coverage area in live chat , they said I will receive call. After like an hour , I received a call from an operator , I asked whether it was available in my area G13 or not. What the operator did was read out "Exchange areas" to me lol There are about 4 exchange areas in Islamabad which I already read on their website. They said "So GPON is not available in your area , do you want DSL instead?" My God , sigh lol . I can't believe how the staff replies to customers like that. So if you have any coverage area list , please link it to me :)

That's what they said to me lmao , like 4 total places in islamabad , which are exchange places and that's simply not true for coverage areas. I've heard the services are also available in Rawalpindi etc , not just those 4 areas!

Just know, that once you get GPON, there will be no more lineman, fiber equipment is very sensitive and they don't let linemen anywhere near it.
Also, getting GPON installed will take a lot more convincing than VDSL, it's very expensive to setup and upgrade cabinets and then dig up the streets to lay cables.

GPON coverage is extremely limited in ISB/RWP.

There's no known coverage map, and I doubt PTCL will mention the areas on their website.

Go to the exchange closest to you, and find out.

Note: If your area has only copper lines and no fiber cabinets, there's a very low chance that you'll get GPON.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
