sohaib38! Yes you are. Line stats are brilliant.
frazgta! Thats very good attenuation rate. The bad is when it crosses 45 upto 55 and higher. In mid 30s ... its brilliant.

champion7891! Hokay, i am guessing the modem is playing tricks on you. So get your modem changed first. If this ZTE modem is provided to you by PTCL, then visit the exchange (take a copy of a recent phone bill and NIC with you) ... meet the Broadband guys there and ask them to get it changed. If they ask for a reason, simply tell them that the problem. You can get it changed free of cost. (DO NOT give them money even if they ask you to)

Get it done first. If the issue still persists then there is definitely an issue with your line.

Also, don't forget to bring in a new Splitter.

distance from isp / or exchange could be a factor ---
My Exchange is 3-4km from my house, It says on the side (0.1dB) meaning its not 110 db but 11.0 and not 85 but 8.5 which is really good stats according to other topics i read. Is that far? 3-4km? If my line isnt eligible for 8mbps, How can I have it changed?

The distance from the exchange is reflected through your Attenuation (in your ADSL Statistics). Copper structure can sustain at 55dB of Attenuation (which is borderline worse). But mid 30s and 40s should be considered brilliant.

I have highlighted the concerned details in the above details you have posted.

Your connection is in perfect health. The only trouble is, your "Line Profile" (from exchange) is set to a 4Mbps.

If you have already applied for an 8Mbps, then it should be uprgaded. If according to them, you are already shifted on an 8Mbps, but aren't getting full speeds, its because of your port which is still 4Mbps. You will have to call up your local exchange, or dial 1218 ... and ask them to upgrade your port to 8Mbps.

Thank you for the reply, I had my ports upgraded shortly after my post. It is now "8064" Down and "1088" up. But it STILL giving me max download of 3.8mbps. :( You say my line is in perfect health and my distance from exchange (Attenuation) is good. Then what could possibly be the problem?

yep I tried new splitter today too.

btw i dont know if its relevant or not, but when I type 192.168.1.1 sometimes I have to refresh the page multiple times before the modem page opens. its been happening for quite a while, it get this pink page which says host not reached or something like that (although net was working fine).

That could be because your ports are upgraded, your connection is not. You are still at 4Mbps.

Call them back at PTCL, and just tell them (be short, but brief) ... that:
- You have applied for 8Mbps promotional upgrade.
- Your ports (line profile) are upgraded to 8Mbps
- BUT your connection is still at 4Mbps

If that doesn't work out, Contact the PTCL guy at twitter. ID = #ptclcares. DM (Direct Message) him your Number (with Area Code) and tell him the problem. Just tell him that your connection is not upgraded, but port/line profile is.

Browser issue. Use Internet Explorer. Flush all the cookies related to 192.168.1.1, if needs be.

If your modem fails to respond (i.e. doesn't open webpage) when you type in 192.168.1.1 ... then pull out the PTCL Wire, and keep the modem connected to PC with Ethernet cables ONLY. Try again, and it should open the modem's webpage.

I also have same problem since 2 days & haven't been fixed yet.

How can the Attenuation change when you are in the same place for years. Mine did from 3 to 10 for DS.

after a long time of complaints they said i must get copper number instead and these are stats now:

wtf i should do ?

sometimes the fiber link snr margin gets better (25+) and its attainable rate goes upto 25mb but rarely

there may be another reason for my disconnects but not sure...when I moved to a new number, the login credentials on my modem are still based on my old number...could that be the reason for the disconnects?

For that, you will have to understand what Attenuation is. To dumb it down, Attenuation means "reduction (in signal) or weakening". It mostly is equal to the length of your copper line. The wires (may) degrade over time hence the reduction in value.

So basically, the distance (of your wire) doesn't actually increase. Its the "travel" (of signal) which increases (i.e. signal is delayed, because of (degraded) wire). The longer the travel, the weaker the signal gets. (This may also give rise to increase latency/pings in games)
Spoiler: show
If your attenuation is high (45dB or more), and if you are not getting better SNR Values, then you should change the modulation to G.DMT, to give the signal more stability, because of longer travel of signal.

Hopefully its understandable for you. For more, you could search Google for more detailed, technical information and accurate definitions.

Please don't tell me you have switched from Fiber to Copper, because those Mofos told you to :S

Your line is at fault. Broadband guys here will do nothing. Open up the myPTCL portal, and lodge a complaint for PSTN > Internet Problem.

Also, people ... PLEASE READ THE OPENING POST IN DETAIL, before you post your query here. Seems as if NO ONE is reading it.

i made about 10-15 complaints over past 1 month.. line man came to me like 4 times , changed ports, refreshed pairs as well as changed looping from exchange.

Idk what else to do. May the the wire coming to my home is having some problem. Going to get it tested on monday. Btw, its not a big issue for using copper over fiber if internet is only 2mb.

I was adviced to get a fiber connection when i was using 4Mbps connection which i didnt and was using 4Mbps on that with good speeds .. i wanted to upgrade to 8Mbps as the promo is here .. i upgraded the number to fiber and upgraded the package also :) and the process didnt take time at all ... i am happy with my Zong 4G on the go and 8Mbps connection at home now :)

Hey Guys. Currently on 8mbps package. My stats are below:

Been having a go with ptcl for the past few months now over this. As you can see Data Rate Down is at 6144kbps (6mbps). Also shown is that Max Rate Down I can get is 19,xxxkbps( around 18-19mbps).

Here is my argument with PTCL ands plz correct me if im wrong. As Data Rate Down is fixed at 6mbps obviously no way I can get 8mbps speeds. Because I have smart TV that also takes upto 2mbps. So Basically when the tv is off I get around 5.5mbps, when the tv is on I get around 3.5 mbps (averages).

I tell ptcl i need to have a Data Rate Down of 10mbps (8 for the net and 2 for the smart tv). Am I correct in saying this?

They keep saying my line is weak, that the SNR up is 8db. But as I am only talking about downstream I dont know why SNR up matters? Not sure. Thanks

Technician called and said hed have the issue resolved, the moron did nothing and got a call from 1218 to close the complaint. Made two more after that, still nothing. I have no idea what todo, this is so frustrating

Can you post a pic of your line stats? And if there is anyone here with a healthy 8mb connection along with Smart TV please post your stats too - Wanna see what the downstreams like.

Send in a message here @ www.twitter.com/ptclcares and link the image as well, he'll get the issue resolved. And yes your new profile either has to be >8000k or around 10000k, depending on PTCL's policy with 8mbps package and smarttv.
