yep I tried new splitter today too.

btw i dont know if its relevant or not, but when I type 192.168.1.1 sometimes I have to refresh the page multiple times before the modem page opens. its been happening for quite a while, it get this pink page which says host not reached or something like that (although net was working fine).
@champion7891! Hokay, i am guessing the modem is playing tricks on you. So get your modem changed first. If this ZTE modem is provided to you by PTCL, then visit the exchange (take a copy of a recent phone bill and NIC with you) ... meet the Broadband guys there and ask them to get it changed. If they ask for a reason, simply tell them that the problem. You can get it changed free of cost. (DO NOT give them money even if they ask you to)

Get it done first. If the issue still persists then there is definitely an issue with your line.

Also, don't forget to bring in a new Splitter.
got modem changed today...I will see if there is any issue.

could you recommend any software for monitoring up times and line down/up count. because in the old (ZTE) modem the adsl line page had all these stats so I could chk how long since last disconnect and how many disconnects in any given time just by noting those values, whereas in the new on I cannot find such stats.

I mean, do these areas of interest:

exist for this modem (I cannot find them):

thanks.

PS. i can get a subjective feel for disconnects but when you look at the figures you realize how bad the situation is

So Ive tried a new modem and a new splitter with both GMDT and ADSL2+ settings. it hasnt changed. Still get random disconnects, SNR is in the 30's moring to afternoon but evening to night it gets into the 10-15 range and the maximum attainable range drops.

Settings:

Couple of Facts:
1) Ive changed all my phone wires from point to modem, as well as the spliter and the modem
2) I had my phone number changed b/c of low line parameters, but my authetication is still based on my old phone number
3) apparently I have been moved to fiber on the back end, but the PTCL guy said that you have been configured to 0-103 on the port and not 8-81 VCI so thats why its been used here

Now another PTCL guy called today and was really dismissive, claiming dynamic IPs are responsible for disconnects and so on and not listening. I was so pissed off that I want to shift away from PTCL - theyve been a PITA for the last month or so but am willing to give a few more days. Any suggestions????

Hey! I don't know if it'll help. But I used to get random disconnections too when I got a new PTCL connection. And this continued for about 1 year. Turns out the line from the pole to my house had a couple of 'jors' in them. I got the lineman to replace the wire and sahi ho gaya.

Another thing I noticed. My connection got upgraded to a 4MB connection in June and as soon as that happened, my connection (which had been working fine for about a year) started disconnecting again. The problem went away when I downgraded to a 1MB connection (my line was on fiber all along).

Soo... I don't know if it'll work but it may be worth a shot.

Oh great. I just got upgraded to 8Mbps and then this shit happens:

EDIT: The other lights are on BTW. They're not visible because of the flash.

The power light is on, DSL light is blinking, and Internet light is usually red but sometimes off.

Your DSL password is being rejected. Reason(s):
1) Already an internet session going on with that username
2) Incorrect password
3) PTCL connectivity issues (AAA)

Confirm your username and password from 1218. And also confirm VPI and VCI values. Make sure they are the same in the ADSL settings page. Also give a screenshot of SNR etc.

I live in model colony too and my net is working fine. You should call 1218 again or call exchange number i.e 021 34506000

Same facts and having the exact same issue since 3 months now and even got my phone cable changed after having a huge argument with the lineman but to no avail.

On the verge of getting my connection disconnected soon.Going to probably go to the exchange in a week or two and make them write a letter stating that they can't fix my internet so that I can put it up here for everyone to see.

I have been facing random disconnections for the past month, and PTCL has not yet offered any solutions to the problem that I have been facing.
Is every one facing random disconnections or is it just me.
Also, can some hilight the reason for such an issue and what should i ask PTCL to check and fix to end this problem.
Thanks ;)

Salam,
First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Taimur!
You guys have been really helpful. I'm a regular visitor of this forum, but never participated. But today I'm changing that, mainly because I need help myself. And hopefully I will be able to to help out others as much as possible.

So coming to the problem, I'm facing a lot of down times and crap speeds. I've been on 8mbps since last 6 months but suddenly something happened last weekend, when the internet died. I complained and they refreshed the port after which the internet came back on, but its been working so sluggish ever since. The dsl guy has visited me a lot of times but he doesn't know himself what's going on. And he isn't willing to find out either. Just comes over, sits, checks stuff on modem settings, tells me its working perfectly, and off he goes.

Can anyone guide me as to what more should I be doing. I will send you my line statistics.
