I have been advised not to get my ps3 modded when I buy one. They say it causes problems in the console later on, can anyone verify this? I'll only buy one if I can get it modified, and i really don't care about playing online.

no probs at all. I had modified my ps3 when the first hack had come. And its been about a year now ^-^

guys i just want some advice from you. i have planned to buy a PS3. yesterday i went to saddar and they had 160GB model and 320GB model for 33K and 37K respectively. but they were all hacked/jailbroken. and i seriously dont want these because i dont know if they have changed the parts of the console or not and this is true, they do change the parts.
so i have thought of buying it from Dubai. so the question is should i get it from Dubai or not ? details will be highly appreciated.

you can search in google about green light of death.in green light of death when we turn on ps3 the green light turns on but ps3 wont give display.

Ps3 slim will work perfectly alright for 3-3.5 years if your handling it with extreme care.I.e use it for 2 hours and give it 2-3 hours rest etc

i keep my ps3 on for at least 5-6 hours a day. no problem yet

My previous slim hardly lasted for 2 years :/

Well I would say even if you ride your fat like hell and ur lucky, it'll run for a long time, mine lasted for 3 years and eight months and i would go around 10 hours per average and sometimes straight 8 hours in the night too. That was my fat before it got the ylod last month. So for the slim I would say it'll last for an even longer time, although it does depend on the usage but mostly your luck. I have the latest slim model in possession and so far its great, just be sure to buy it brand new whichever you want to buy.

umm well Sony world ( in Karachi ) will give you a ps3 with the warranty, the life is well over the life of any other console developed so far which is to say depending how you use it could last you more than 5 years, however if you buy it with warranty you will be charged an extra 9-10k ruppees ( meaning 40k for the ps3 at minimum ) with the warranty.. )
