So it's official:
https://propakistani.pk/2019/03/14/jazz-achieves-140-mbps-in-4g-testing/
Article only mentions Islamabad though. Why only choose to refarm such a small amount of 900 MHz in only one city when there's clearly an issue with speeds and coverage in other cities as well?
I watched CCO's live stream today. He clearly mentioned 3 things.
1. They know that at many places their 4G coverage is not available, but they are working hard and try to upgrade a site to 4G every 90 minutes (Don't know true or false) and at end of the 2019 they will upgrade a huge amount of cell sites to 4G out of 13000 total cell sites (He was reluctant to mention exact numbers).
So I hope they will have a better 4G coverage at the end of 2019.
2. He also mentioned that their technical team is testing L900 (fancy name of CA 4G between Band 3 and 8) at few sites in Islamabad and acheived 140 Mbps. But it is still in testing phase and have to check that this development should not compromise GSM services.
So in my opinion 4G+ will at least take 4-5 months for complete roll out in Big cities.
3. He also told that VoLTE is in trials and they are contacting handset manufacturers to rollout compatibility update. And once updates will be rolled out and there will be handfull of devices, they will enable it across their network.
This is what I said few posts ago that Jazz and Zong have made their VoLTE ready and already contacted manufacturers to roll out updates and they will enable it once their will be handfull of devices available in market. They want to launch VoLTE with full scale unlike Telenor who has habit to serve half baked services like VoLTE and 4G+.
