No, not a custom rom.

There is no short answer to the last part of your post as too much red tape involved and there was an experimental app just for that and maybe still is but lets just say, not easy without spending a significant amount of money.
But there is still hope and telenor group has the money to invest I think, but I guess they won't. Lets hope something comes up.

Out of context but do you have any idea how can we flash those params manually on a Samsung phone i.e S7 Edge or S8+ if they are rooted ?

I think Jazz and especially Zong are holding their VoLTE rollout because they have contacted chipset manufacturers like Mediatek, Qualcomm, Huawei, and Samsung sometimes ago for their VoLTE codes to be installed in all of their new chipsets, and soon when there will be enough handsets with new compatible chipsets, they will commercially roll out VoLTE.

So Govt is planning to renew 3 companies license with insane price of $450 million. While companies are asking the same price of $291 million on which Jazz renewed its spectrum in 2014. Moreover in case of $291 million price, companies desire to get additional spectrum in 2100 and 2300 MHz because their existing 3G/4G spectrum has been started to choke due to increasing data demand by users.

So it's official:

https://propakistani.pk/2019/03/14/jazz-achieves-140-mbps-in-4g-testing/

Article only mentions Islamabad though. Why only choose to refarm such a small amount of 900 MHz in only one city when there's clearly an issue with speeds and coverage in other cities as well?
I watched CCO's live stream today. He clearly mentioned 3 things.

1. They know that at many places their 4G coverage is not available, but they are working hard and try to upgrade a site to 4G every 90 minutes (Don't know true or false) and at end of the 2019 they will upgrade a huge amount of cell sites to 4G out of 13000 total cell sites (He was reluctant to mention exact numbers).

So I hope they will have a better 4G coverage at the end of 2019.

2. He also mentioned that their technical team is testing L900 (fancy name of CA 4G between Band 3 and 8) at few sites in Islamabad and acheived 140 Mbps. But it is still in testing phase and have to check that this development should not compromise GSM services.

So in my opinion 4G+ will at least take 4-5 months for complete roll out in Big cities.

3. He also told that VoLTE is in trials and they are contacting handset manufacturers to rollout compatibility update. And once updates will be rolled out and there will be handfull of devices, they will enable it across their network.

This is what I said few posts ago that Jazz and Zong have made their VoLTE ready and already contacted manufacturers to roll out updates and they will enable it once their will be handfull of devices available in market. They want to launch VoLTE with full scale unlike Telenor who has habit to serve half baked services like VoLTE and 4G+.

Sounds almost as ridiculous as Telenor saying they will set up a whole new site every hour.

They're definitely doing something in Islamabad. My friend just messaged me and said he's not getting any 4G signals and even 3G keeps going on and off. He's very close to Jazz Headquarters in ISB.

3. He also told that VoLTE is in trials and they are contacting handset manufacturers to rollout compatibility update. And once updates will be rolled out and there will be handfull of devices, they will enable it across their network.
This is a very good thing, since that means manufacturers will probably rollout updates with the necessary IMS stuff for both Telenor and Jazz VoLTE at the same time.

Although Zong is mum about VoLTE but I think Jazz and Zong both are running wearing same shoes.

Jazz 'upgraded' 4G+ in Islamabad. However, most phones won't show 4G+ icon because the total bandwidth doesn't exceed 20 MHz. Since it's only 15+3, it just shows normal 4G instead.

Speed is pathetic though.

3 MHz will not make any difference. It will only provide better indoor coverage. That's all

This. Their 140Mbps test was in lab conditions, with perfect signal and zero traffic. Band 8 is there to help give you basic speeds and indoor coverage since there isn't a lot of spectrum here.

There's CA happening in almost most parts of Islamabad - but there really isn't any speed improvement per se. I can't force my phone to 900Mhz (I tried rooting - phone bricked - had to go to Singapore Plaza to get someone to miraculously reinstall the software which I wasn't able to for 2 hours straight, despite having flashed and bricked and recovered phones myself for 8 years) and I'm not going to root anymore (too scared to waste another 800 bucks for reflashing)...

Anyway, I don't know how good their indoor coverage is with band 8 in Islamabad. Let them come to Pindi, in Bahria, and then you (@murtaza12) and I can test.

C'mon man, it isn't that hard. At what stage did everything go south?

Same, wasn't able to check since I was only in Islamabad for an hour so, and spent the entire time outside. Signal bounced around between 2 and 4 bars.

Root: I know it's not hard. I've done it every time before the Pixel 2. It's the double partition bit which I think I messed up in between. Oh well. Maybe another day.

Ah yes, A/B partitioning is a pain in the ass when rooting or flashing custom ROMs.

If you run into an issue next time, feel free to PM. I'd be happy to help.

LOL, 3G has better download speed than 4G.
