AbbY: You misunderstood me. I didn't say there would be negative marking. I believe a mark is there for following the word limit, therefore that mark would not be received.

Plus, due to the low amount of words, the composition is obviously incomplete, so the task has not been fulfilled. Task fulfillment carries 15 marks, so not all 15 marks would be received.

Depends. Not really a very relevant example, but James D.MacDonald one submitted a story to a magazine. The magazine was asking for stories from 4 words to 4000. He submitted a four word story, got selected and paid handsomely. A 250 word essay could be better written than a 500 word one. Some people write in really flowery prose.

I really need to learn that flowery prose. Creativity is where I lack in English, other wise paper 2 always goes well.

Simplicity > fancy misfit words.

A friend of mine had a W.D in English lang (MJ12). His essays are the most 'simple' and well structured essays I've seen. No fancy shit, no nonsense idioms and inappropriately used methaphors/phrases.

No. You don't need to use flowery prose. You should be simple. Ask any writer and this is what they tell you: tell more with less. You don't need to use thirty words of yours to explain a point, especially not when you can just use fifteen words and be done with it. You can allot those other fifteen words to explain a new point in your essay and gain more marks.

Read the story in the spoiler below. It's an example of the use of flowery prose in a story. Try to rewrite it in a simple manner.
Spoiler: show
Aiyana looked at her mother and nodded. She got up off her chair and left the kitchen. Now my attention is drawn to Solana, who smiled at me, placed some pancakes on the plate in front of me and said,

“Please eat some pancakes, they’re really tasty. I don’t want you to go hungry. I’ll give you a fork and a glass of orange juice.”

Solana handed me a silver metal fork, with four prongs and the flower design carved on the brown wooden handle. She also grasped the bottle of maple syrup and poured its sticky brown contents on the plate of pancakes. I looked down and stared at it.

“Hmm,” said Solana. “It seems that you have never tasted pancakes before. Just cut a piece off and eat it.

I looked up at Solana once more, remembering what Aiyana told me earlier, that she isn’t always the best cook. I assumed that these pancakes of hers would not taste very pleasant. I found Solana as a very kind person and the last thing I want to do is offend her. With my assumption set aside, I grabbed the fork that was previously placed on the table, Cut off a piece of the pancake and placed it into my open mouth. My bottom jaw made contact with my upper one, while moving in a clockwise position. The food was soft and tasted sugary. While eating it I had this pleasant feeling, I assumed that the pancakes would taste horrible, but it was the opposite. I looked up at Solana again and smiled. Solana smiled back at me.

Hey guys, in today's paper of English comprehension i wrote down about 20 points from passage 1.
Will any marks for points after 15 be given ? or will i get full marks even if some of my early points are incorrect i.e they will be compensated for by the excess points i wrote ?

If any 15 points are correct then you'll get full marks. And you have to write down points for both parts of the story. Thats it, full marks.

15 correct points will be marked. (Usually 7 and 8/8 and 7 on the two topics). Matlab, writing 12 Fors and 4 Againsts will bite you in the ass but 10 For 10 Against, best 7-8 will be marked each. Getit?

An excerpt of an e-mail my English teacher sent me last year after I asked her about formatting and shit. (Paranoid bro's, Xerolt9 and MrDeadman)

Points are perfectly okay. Just write them without saying one and two. Do exactly as the second example. Write the second point in the next line but don't number.
(Second example:
1) Lighthouses have brighter light than fires
2) Lights in lighthouses was permanent unlike those of fires which had to be re-lit periodically )
Also remember, formatting matters almost zilch INCLUDING in the account/report question, it is what you write that matters. But if you make it easily accessible/readable for the examiner that is always an advantage. Don't bother reading up the formats and remembering them. You need to follow what you generally would if you were writing, say a letter to the Principal, or a report etc. Again, it's the content that matters and not the format!

Best of luck!

Ohkk. In my time we gave PM papers for one year and AM for the other.
Maybe, reporting time is 9AM but can't say for sure.

I have AM sessions. My reporting time is 8AM and the paper starts at 9AM.

You should reach the venue by 8 just to be safe.
