PACIFIC RIM (2013)
"
Lets go fishing!"
I had an erection at the intro of our most awesome
Gipsy Danger, with most exciting CGI, and dazzling rain effect. '
Two thousand five hundred tons of awesomeness'. Goes both ways. Its Kaijus vs. Robots, a fight with humongous mofo creatures
done right. So turn off your brain, and embrace the cheese.
Its a spectacle. TheAvengers-esque plot, not so much. Portals, Aliens, Nukes, its getting repetitive and boring now. A few WTF moments like, '
Dinosaurs trial run', and '
Its Pregnant'. Stupid but interesting, though. Forget about the ending. The clichés were pretty much expected, but i don't see it as a problem. Screenplay wasn't a groundbreaking thing anyway.
Mouth watering (and eye-tearing) CGI-infested anime-style artwork, with orgasmic huge environments kept me hooked up. Its amazing how beautifully
Pacific Rim presents those vast places. Some of the action scenes are particularly lovely. '
Fastest Jaeger', '
Elbow rocket' ... they totally had me at '
the final choice', '
A Sword'. Noteable fight with that winged creature, one of the most amazing fights in the whole movie. '
Nuclear blast' before entry in
Breach pushing all the water away ...
just wow. Soundtrack were quietly brilliant, for the most part.
Pacific Rim Soundtrack with Gipsy Danger's entry spiked my enthusiasm.
Idris Elba served well as someone with sheer responsibility of keeping the war going.
Mako, well she is hilarious. I just couldn't take her seriously, even in
47 Ronin (2013). Younger Mako acted better. Impressive for a child. Kaiju groupie doctor,
Charlie Day, added the necessary humor pretty darn well.
My problem is that even though
Pacific Rim was stylish, stunning, having absolutely sublime CGI action ... it was a bit boring. The CGI was a bit too much for me to bear, and was strain on the eyes. During most of the intense action scenes, i couldn't see properly whatever was going on. Robots were a bit slower. Should've been faster, which i expect them to be in the promised sequel of Pacific Rim. But its $190 million budget's glory pays off well. And its very entertaining ... and humorous. So what the hell,
7/10. This is something you'd repeat multiple times before letting it go.
P.S. This makes the
Godzilla (2014) feel even stupider and sh*ttier. Pacific Rim was much less boring for me than that. I kinda like it, but dislike it at the same time. I dunno, can't explain. Screw it.
