guyz m getting a ban X360,tell me any consequences for that,i dont hav any intentions for multiplayer,i only need it for exclusives titles..

so tell me any issues like!

future games vl need a update..so how vl that happen i mean via CD waghaira?

once consequence is that i wont able to instal game..thats not a big issue.

Well the main issue is that you cant instal the games with which you are not concerned....Other than this I think there is no problem in it.

Another more important question. To my knowledge, the thermal paste on the X360 from company is crap. Would it be safe to change the thermal paste to Arctic Silver 5 right now ?

Well people apply new thermal paste when their console get the rrod, but you can try it at YOUR OWN RISK...

well according to some of the "xboxists" on PG, The meterials used in the manufacture of Falcons is pretty much crap, So yeah you should replace it but be careful, It's not a PC and u might wanna read a few tuts before u try.DO IT AT UR OWN RISK.

I heard Arctic Silver 5 is a pretty good thermal paste.. I think it would be better.. As long as "Safe" is concerned.. I dont know that stuff lol

Well im sure the thermal paste in the x360 not even close to as good as Arctic Silver 5. From my own PC overclocking experiences I know how good it is. Infact, opening up teh X360 I can see the obvious cooling problems ...

... question is, is it easily openable. I know opening the X360 to a motherboard state takes under 5 mins if you have the kit. Infact, when I got this console, it was opened for me to check using a X360 opening kit ... and took that time.

When I say easily openable, I mean is the GPU and CPU heatsink easily removable or not ?

Otherwise, I had another idea ... putting a heatshield between the GPU and the DVD drive will prevent the drive heat from going towards the GPU aswell. Ill do some research and rip this thing apart after exams and do some mods to help in heat control and circulation.

While I dont have personal experience with the drives of X360 specifically ... a Philips lite-on drive is something I would trust a lott more than any other. Brand image and quality expectation really.

A question from my side

Exactly which sides of the console heats up ? Right now there is only a considerable warmth (not hot to be honest) under the console (I keep it horizontally on "stilts" making it 2-3 inches higher than the surface, so air passes underneath quiet well). Sides and back all have cool air coming out of them. Top is normal too.

If this warmth is to be kept under control, I can put a fan underneath it which would direct air directly on the bottom area of the GPU/CPU. Useful or should I not be bothered about it ?

The activation disk is something that you run once everytime you start to play any Wave4 game on drives with the i-xtreme 1.6 firware. IX 1.61 removes the need for the disk and plays Wave4, but that firmware is not available for the Lite-On drives ... so you need the disk if you want to play any of the latest games like AC2, MW2 etc

Yea that fan thing helps alot.. I made an a Small fan for more exhaust power lol.. I ripped out a small fan from an old power supply.. took its wires and tied with a tape around the pin of a 12A Charger.. And the fan runs faster than the 360's one lol and keep it behind the 360.. giving me 3 Exhaust fans .. But Since Im a jasper I just keep it in my drawer lol

1:You should definitely apply Arctic Silver.

2:Yes the Heat sinks can be removed with a certain amount of ease.(not that easy mind you)

3:I think that heatshield Idea might not be worth the extra effort, Let's assume that u do Install most games on ur HDD, Let's say u play Forza 3 installing both discs shouldn't take more than 20 mins at most after that when u play the game the disc will only spin for a few seconds for verification and then stop, So the Drive won't be producing much heat, But I guess if u want to be extra sure u should.

Erm you'll need to remove the X-Clamps from the bottom of the Motherboard to lift the GPU and and CPU Heatsink thing.. But I dont know if you can put the X-Clamp back on

Yaar you should check it out and tell us as nobody had tried it yet.....And i think it doesnt take much effort to check whether the Banned console installs Forza 3 disk2 or not...............

There are updates that you can get offline also.....So no need to worry,there are offline updates to run games as well.......

If the game requires a mandatory update it'll be included on the game disc or downloadable thru xbox.com and installable thru a disc media or USB.

@ Ahsan: I believe you should try discussing these hardware issues with incredebulous and Mosses. Most other people don't know that much.
