[h=1]Super Mario Odyssey store demo is now a speedrunning favorite[/h]
[h=2]Players are racing through the 10-minute demo in half that time[/h]
Players are hanging out in stores nationwide to check out the new Super Mario Odysseydemo, a 10-minute trial that has enormous speedrun potential. A new category has already sprung up, just based on what’s available at these in-store stations. A number of speedruns are available on YouTube, all shot with handheld cameras and captured in stores. A person who goes by Fengari ran through the demo’s world, the sandy plains of Tostarena, in just over seven minutes, others have tried to best him with their own attempts.
It’s gotten to the point where viewers are offering tips to optimize Odyssey speedrun times. Some of those are other speedrunners, while others have just fallen in love with this highly specific category. It looks like the fastest time thus far is Jacob Babione’s. He’s managed to finish Tostarena in five minutes, 28 seconds as of Oct. 12. (Next stop: breaking the five-minute mark?)
It’s especially impressive considering that on Oct. 10, his six-minute, 39-second attempt gained him some widespread attention and praise.
We’re pumped to see Super Mario Odyssey continue to develop into a popular title for speedrunners once the full game is available on Oct. 27. Check out an hour of gameplayfrom a demo Polygon got to try recently.
[h=1]Mario can wear Peach’s wedding dress in Super Mario Odyssey[/h]
[h=2]Peach isn’t the only Wedding Peach around here[/h]
Some folks already have their hands on Super Mario Odyssey and its new, wedding-themed amiibo — which means we’re getting our first taste of what to expect from the game’s figure functionality. And, just as we hoped, that Peach amiibo in the nice wedding dress? Yeah, it gives Mario the exact outfit you’d expect it to. The back of the Wedding Peach amiibo box has a small screenshot of the costume the figure unlocks in-game. We see it briefly in an unboxing video from YouTube channel FamilyGamerTV, embedded below. (It comes up around the six-minute, 30-second mark.)
There’s Mario, veil and all. He’s even got Peach’s iconic blue earrings, which is proof of his commitment to the cosplay. We’re not saying this is the best look for Mario, but we’re also not saying it’s not.Super Mario Odyssey is meant to be the kind of game that encourages players to be the Mario they’ve always wanted to be, so if your heart yearns for Wedding Peach Mario, well, here you go. (Not that you’ll need the appropriate amiibo to unlock the outfit, by the way.Everything can be unlocked in-game.) We haven’t seen Mario in a dress before, although we’ve seen Luigi borrow Peach’s outfit before. And in 2015, Link drew inspiration from his own royal counterpart, Princess Zelda, with an unlockable Zelda costume in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. Super Mario Odyssey and its accompanying amiibo launch Oct. 27.
Traps, hats, and much much more. Question is, will you be able to handle all the 10/10 scores this will get?
Here's one for starters:
EDGE - 10/10
Like Breath of the Wild, Odyssey is a new entry in a long-running series that belies its age with sprightly invention, taking big risks with an established formula, and having all of them pay off handsomely. Mario might be getting on a bit, then, but a dinosaur? This astonishing adventure proves he's anything but. [Dec 2017, p.98]
haha i have plyed Super Mario 3d World thanks to CEMU in 4K xD
the environments and different type of levels are amazing to look at .
dont think it would make that much of a difference since thats on a handheld screen size small and what not. not big a deal. i ended and fully completed 3d world twice i think second time with luigi on the original 3DS
Yeah, people who enjoy these games will probably have a blast but I am one of those rare cases who has never been able to get into any of the Nintendo franchises. I gave Ocarina a honest to god try via emulation not too long ago but I just couldn't get into it.
the mustached Italian that just keeps on giving..but seriously nostalgia and the legacy of the character has to play a part in this outrageous score.. 97
is bonkers

Seems Nintendo is doing almost everything right with Switch !!! From superb first party games to Doom, wolfenstein, Skyrim etc for more mature audiences.

Mario Galaxy and Mario Galaxy 2 were both 97 as well.
I don’t think the nostalgia argument holds much signifance for Mario as it does for Zelda. Its overflowing with creativity and fresh ideas unlike Zelda.
As I am growing older, I have developed this liking for good platformers. Maybe I am bored of traditional genres I have spent my whole life with. But playing Mario these days in front of my family, they will think that I have gone full retard or something.
no idea how that is a steal by wasting 3500 rupees per month and for games that are removed before you can finish them off.xbox gamepass is garbage with no local prices

Just finished Diablo 4 season in hurry to play Fallout 4 but gamepass released another banger in the form of Star Wars on April 25th. Gamepass is a steal man.
Is it just me or people lately seem to defend every bad game design decision made by the devs and try to give bullshit reasons for that? Or perhaps it's because I'm on reddit and discord
