Suggestions required for Football-related threads

Assalam u alaikum everyone!

Getting straight to the point, there are four stickied threads related to Football in this section . And usually only one thread is active at a time. I unstuck the 'Football transfers thread' recently because it's pretty much dead during the non-transfer window season.

I've also noticed instances of people posting haphazardly, like discussing a Champions League match in a non-UEFA thread, posting/discussing transfers in an unrelated thread and so on.So to make the discussion more streamlined, I propose to have a single dedicated "Football discussion thread" in addition to a "UEFA Champions League and Europa League thread". (there's also an option of merging the UEFA thread into the General Football thread).

Very few people religiously follow non-EPL matches anyway so you can take those, EPL and the International matches discussions to a dedicated Football thread. Not to mention, such a measure will allow me to easily monitor the threads and take appropriate action swiftly where necessary.

Now before acting, I considered it appropriate to take the opinion of the stakeholders involved (i.e the PG Football fans). So post your views on the suggestions I've proposed. And I'm sure we can come to a definite conclusion.

Good idea. I'm all for a UEFA/Europa thread and a Football thread for everything else.

Sounds good. I am mostly a passive member but it defo gets confusing sometimes when we have fa cup, epl, la liga etc going on at once ,

I was of the opinion that the sheer popularity of the EPL thread [considering the amount of pages it has w.r.t others] should see it live as a single thread. And we could merge non-EPL and UEFA thread into one.

But SEv is pretty much right here. There is no 'ronak' like there used to back in the days anyway, so go ahead, merge 'em into one.

That's actually a pretty good point. What do the others say about this?
The other threads pale in comparison to the EPL thread which is nearing 2000 pages!

Leave the "English Premier League" thread as is.

Merge all other threads under one banner called "General Football Thread". I propose that the following threads be merged into this new thread;

-> International, Serie A, La Liga, MLS, and non-EPL Football Thread
-> UEFA Champions League and Europa League thread
-> Official Football Transfer News & Rumours Thread

I would second hmir's suggestion, let the EPL thread as is since we discuss the FA cup and carling cup etc there as well.

If you merge all of these threads in one then it would get confusing as one person will be discussing LA Liga and at the same time other will be posting about the epl matches, since both of them are at the same days of the week.

Merge these:
-> International, Serie A, La Liga, MLS, and non-EPL Football Thread
-> UEFA Champions League and Europa League thread

Lock the "Official Football Transfer News & Rumors Thread" we can discuss the transfer news in the related threads, for example: transfers that involves english clubs can be discussed in the epl thread and other transfers can be discussed in the "General football thread".

I agree with the merge, most of these threads are redundant. Two separate threads for the EPL and General Football would be adequate for discussions.

I'd say we merge EPL and all the weekly game threads in one, but keep the Transfers and Rumors separate. I, for one, found it easy to stroll through the pages and see what major is happening.

I'll suggest keeping the Transfers and Rumors thread sticky during the Transfer window, and non-sticky but open when the window is closed.

Well, since most of it is covered anyway I will just give my own views.

The EPL thread is fine, it's one of the most active football threads around here, so it's better to let it continue the way it is. You should consider hmir's suggestion which is to merge all the other threads under the 'General football title'. Also, sticky the Football transfer thread only during the transfer seasons (January) and (June,July,August). This way we have four football threads (if you include the prediction thread), it will be easier to keep track and activity would increase and be rather consistent.

Also, congratulations of becoming a moderator. I would like to applaud you regarding your initiative to start this thread. Good job!

Most people are in favour of a separate EPL thread and a unified UEFA/non-EPL/Internationals/Transfers thread.

I'm also unstickying (not locking!) the "English Premier League - The Scoreline Prediction Thread".
I want the sticky's to be purely related to match discussion. Two stickied Football threads in enough and anything more is overkill.
