Definitely the Nexus 5X, nothing else will give you a 'Smooth user experience'.
ads496 has one and so does shaheerk
They can give you their opinions about it.
Stock Android will beat TouchWiz any day if we're talking about smooth user experience.

However, neither of the phones will give you 1 full day, they both support fast charging, so if you carry it around with you and plug the phone in for even 20-25 minutes, it'll buy you some time. :p

Besides, most S6's that are available for 40k nowadays are the american ones that have been converted to international variants.
There's no way you can get a brand new S6 (international) for 40k.

Two people I know have 5X's, and two more people on PG have them too. Nobody has complained so far about performance.

The American S6 is indeed a bad thing.
Long story short, they're tampered with and IMEIs have been changed.

I'm a fan of pure android and hence, nexus series. I have had Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 5 and Nexus 6. For tabs I got (and still have) Nexus 7 2012 and Nexus 7 2013. BUT, that doesn't mean that I would prefer a Nexus device over anything else just because of software.

Galaxy S6 is a much better phone than Nexus 5x in my opinion. I can understand if somebody claims Nexus 6p to be better than Galaxy S6 (although I wouldn't agree with their opinion), but Nexus 5x is certainly not better than Galaxy S6.

Galaxy S6 has a much better display than Nexus 5x. Galaxy S6 display is still the best display on any mobile in my opinion. Camera of Galaxy S6 is better than Nexus 5x camera. Performance of Exynos 7420 is much better than Snapdragon 808. Nexus 5x has lighter software, but then Galaxy S6 has 1gb more ram and faster and bigger memory. My Galaxy S6 (920F) just updated to 6.0.1 yesterday so having latest android version is not an advantage for Nexus 5x at present.

I love stock android and hated Touchwiz on Galaxy S5 and older Galaxy series. But Touchwiz has improved on new Samsung phones and I'm still using the default theme on my Galaxy S6 for many months now and don't feel the need to install any other launcher.

I charge my phone (Galaxy S6) in the morning and on next morning it has around 40%-50% battery remaining.

Nexus 5x was a disappointment for me to be honest. I was anxiously waiting for new Nexus device from LG and planned on buying it at launch as I expected it to be Nexus 5 of this generation. However, Nexus 5x disappointed me in terms of specs, looks and price. It's a midrange phone that is priced like a flagship. Nexus 5x (32gb) would be a really good deal for 30k-35k (new). But at its current price I can't recommend it to anybody.

If your choice is limited to Galaxy S6 or Nexus 5x, get Galaxy S6. Otherwise if you can wait for some time then you can get Xiaomi Mi5 or if you want something even cheaper then Xiaomi Mi4s.

I have an M8, M9, S6 edge laying around in pristine condition, I use then daily and I must say,
If you are after battery, speed, build quality you must get an M9 BUT what you are losing is a bit of features and camera, believe me htc M9 has a horrible.horrible.camera.in.the.history.of.recent.smartphones
If you are after sexiness, hands down, S6 Edge or even S6 are a pure beauty and the camera is jaw dropping. What you lose is, horrible upscaling (due to it being 2k) icons are blurry(apart from the preinstalled samsung apps) battery life is horrendous and the phone has a typical iconic samsung jitter due to overloaded software. Over all not recommended as you loose too much.
I tried Z3+ 4 days back, it was in between s6 and m9.

Even an HTC One M8 is better than a Galaxy S6. S6 has typical Samsung lag and its battery is quite atrocious.
I don't agree on your views 99% of the time, but this one is the rest 1%.

Another phone you can buy for 40k-45k if slightly used isn't an issue is Xperia Z5.
I don't think so, 45k for a used z5, its not even in most of the stores now.

Weird, I came from market even like 3 hrs ago, and man went to many shops, there was no sign of Z5 used or new, even some of them had oneplus 2 and every other high end phone.
Z5 isn't readily available from shopkeepers. But many people have brought them from abroad individually.

Both the phones are different and cater to the users with different priorities. If you want a phone with a good design and a flagship feel then the nexus 5X isn't for you. Do keep in mind that the s6 design has its own flaws. It's slippery. I had a iPhone 6 before my Nexus 5X and I can say that the nexus 5X is ergonomically better than both the phones. I can hold if comfortably, can use it without a case.
If you want a phone with an exceptional software experience and consistent performance then go for the nexus 5X. In day to day usage the phone has zero stutters although the phone does slow down a bit when gaming especially when the phone starts to heat up. If you don't game and want a phone that helps in day to day activities and multi tasks like a champ then this is the phone for you.
The camera is superior on the s6. Nexus 5X has a camera that does the job, nothing special.
Battery life on both of them is pretty average. I get 3-4 hours of screen on time from it with 3G and background services on the whole day. That's pretty good for most users out there. The rapid charging in pretty insane too, charges up to 60 in like half an hour. The problem here is that the 32 GB version for the phone is pretty expensive here. I got it for 39k from Dubai, if you can it at a price point then go for the phone.
