Saving those for the 2nd playthrough. They don't seem to show the actual cutscene with the pre-viz stuff enabled lol.

Yep. Nico is pretty much a representation of the DMC-Fan in character form.

Lady's new voice actor. It's just too 'average' .. she had a distinct and deterministic actor in DMC3. Really shame they didn't get her back.


You can also watch the pre viz videos separately from the gallery if you don't want to have them appear in the middle of the game.

I'm still not all that impressed by the RE Engine. Both DMC5 and RE2 are far too restrictive in scope for my taste and their cut backs for 60fps are very noticeable (lesser in RE2 but not by much). I would like to see how RE Engine handles a game like Monster Hunter World.

DICE is still the one to beat in terms of the graphical quality they push at 60fps.

Yeah, returning-character-after-chapter-3's voice over is pretty weak. Same goes for another returning-character-after-future-chapter.

When GPU bottleneck is taken out of consideration and CPU is the limiting factor, there's a consistent 13 FPS advantage when not using the Denuvo exe. This means for people with older CPU's or laptop CPU's (like mine) it could be a notable difference of a few frames per second depending on GPU utilization.

Have unlocked close to 50% of the trophies. Now to start another playthrough on the Son of Sparda difficulty.

Online play is also causing stutters in the PC version, which is a shame. The two coop missions, especially mission 13, are a lot of fun. Here's hoping Bloody Palace also supports coop.

DF's PC video on the game and PC equivalent settings on XBX (Good to see I'm playing the game on better than X settings at a lower .. but native .. resolution :p)









Finished the game over the weekend as well.

- Capcom has not lost a touch since DMC4. This game is basically the next game in-line with DMC4 with little to no carry overs (even for game play stuff) from DmC.

- The last stretch of the story feels very rushed and those events felt like they would be better served in the middle of the game. After Dante/Vergil depart to the underworld, the game should have split so that Nero is left cleaning up the Earth side and Dante/Vergil should have been playable in the Underworld side.


- Overall the game's length felt a little short but otherwise it's the quintessential DMC experience you would expect.

Im sure you were able to tell differences during gameplay and it probably looks exactly like the cut scenes on PC at Ultra max settings lol

lol, even DF's PC doesn't look the same between cut-scenes and game play :p mera bechara laptop 1060 kia kare ga. I'm more talking about the general 'by the number' things in the pic. For example, X and Pro run with low volumetric lighting, I was able to run at High volumetric lighting etc.

It's just a bit weird that there are so many settings which are only effective for cut-scenes and don't do anything in game play. RE2 didn't have anything like that, it looks like the PC version of the game is bottle necked because of the 60 FPS goal for consoles.

The performance to visuals ratio between presets in all RE Engine games have been poor honestly.

I think this is more a case of DMC 5's cut scenes getting a massive upgrade over RE2 such that the gameplay hit is magnified even more here. RE2's cut-scenes have got nothing on DMC 5 from what I've seen.

eh, RE2 has maybe 1/10th of cut-scenes in total that DMC5 has, but yeah the difference is likely more noticeable because of the jarring quality shift between the regular game play and when you hit one of the game's many extremely high quality cinematics. RE2 on the other hand is incredibly consistent in the visual fidelity across game play and scenes, heck most scenes are near-instant shifts from game play to scenes, unlike DMC where the screen goes black and the game has to load the much higher quality assets in the memory.

That being said, both games have really amazing high's for visuals in their own regards. DMC5 just seemingly has lower low's.

Despite the coverage being poor, it's easy to tell that the AO settings are in effect just by switching between them (lol @ no AO).
I'd agree with Necro on this one. If you have to use the most expensive, GPU taxing, version of AO to even *see* some kind of an implementation in-game (and not a very good one at that), that means the implementation is not good. DF's "recommended" settings for people (which most people would already be using in most cases anyway) also recommends using SSAO instead of HBAO or HDAO. Resident Evil 2's general implementation of SSAO itself is so much better that DF recommends using it over the much more expensive HDAO and just under HBAO.

In general, DMC seems to have poor implementation of some of these common effects during game play segments (in cut-scenes everything is fantastic) which is weird because the last 2 games on the same engine (RE2 and RE7) made great use of them.

This is how I would rank the current RE engine games based on their tech/impressiveness: DMC 5's cut-scenes > Resident Evil 2 > Resident Evil 7 > DMC 5's game play.

Most of the feature set is just implemented poorly. Take AO as an example:

Never have I seen HBAO+ looking this bad in any game. Coverage is poor. Nero and most objects on screen seem completely unaffected by it. Two examples of good implementation for reference:

Sorry for being out of topic here but I cant stand to see such humiliation of graphics here, why not have ReShade, as it will be 1000+ times better, cause ReSahde is the real essence of PC Gaming.

P.S. I know it is just for the critique of what developers failed to deliver but still, we have a back door to put the patch on things :p.
