really cheap of the devs if you ask me. seriously what were they thinking?
:mental
They were thinking of making Maneaters. And so they did. But one wasn't enough, so they added another Maneater. Can't have too much of a good thing. :tv:

Finsihed Tomb Raider.

Well it was a great game. Loved the new Lara and her origin story, a great fresh start for her.

The game was well paced. Had a great soundtrack and Atmosphere was amazing throughout, loved it. Graphics were pretty good, nothing outstanding but sill pretty good, Fire effects and lighting was great. Character animations were kinda rigid or maybe I have been spoiled by Uncharted :p.

Gameplay was good but can be improved upon a lot, it didn't felt polished. Liked the cusomizablity of weapons and such and having ablities/perks etc. Raiding tomb's was kinda fun. The cinematic sequences were, for the most part, great although some of them were kinda meh. Quick time event were really annoying, a real turn off.

Aside from Lara, there weren't any interesting characters in the game. Her friends were not developed and had poor voice acting. Lara voice acting herself was also sometimes not that good but the british accent kinda covered it ;).

8.5/10
Just Finished it! my most recent!
well, characterization was bad, really bad except LARA. There are hardly few NEW characters that SUCCESSFULLY replace old characters. Like NEW DANtE in DMC, new LARA CROFT somehow managed its place. Its natural, to make name after iconic Lara Croft was not easy.
what I loved most were sound effects and music. JasonGraves did great job in composing music for this game.
Story line was interesting till first half only. My Curiosity ended with stupid answers, such as HIMIKO actually had magical powers. I though Lara croft would find some logic behind all that happening.
Anyhow loved this game.
would rate it 9/10

Finished Shattered Memories a couple of days back.

The Good:
+ Surprisingly decent graphics for a last gen hand-held title. (played it on the PSP)
+ Story was interesting.....at the start, atleast.
+ The therapy sessions were fun, if only for the lulz due to the therapist being an ass.
+ The Nightmare world was not scary but it was quite tense and that was quite nice, until....

The Bad:
- ......Until, it stopped being tense and started being annoying, I got lost so many times and just ran around in circles until the monsters killed me. It was partly my fault and partly the fault of the useless map.
- A lot of the characters in this game make no sense and nor do some the things that are happening, for example : Nurse crashes into hospital, our protagonist looks at the car and isn't in any hurry to help the nurse, she stumbles out of the car while having a bleeding head and thanks the protagonist for no reason, then the nurse proceeds to say that she's going to home and fix herself up (Psst....remember, she's in a F**KING hospital) and then the protag offers to see her off to her apartment.
Other stupid shit like that happens a lot of times in this game.
- The puzzles are so utterly easy that it's just sad, in the whole game there was only 1 puzzle that reminded me of the good 'ol Silent hill.

I liked the fact that the game didn't have any combat, since combat in the Silent Hill games sucks ass, but other than that this was quite an underwhelming game, you're better off going back and playing Silent Hill 1.

Score: 5.5/10

That was my fault, since I didn't fully explore the area. :p

The "puzzle" was a keycode that was written on a picture in a locker.... -____-

Pros:
-A game with some of the best atmosphere I've ever come to explore. Think of it as you may, but it gives me vibes of Half-Life, which is always a good thing.
-Spectacular gun-play. I really enjoyed using every single weapon in this game, especially that quad-barrelled shotgun. Firing every shell into an enemy had this satisfying 'thud' to it. Really loved the whole mask/mask wipe/filter system. Gave the game a unique sense of realism.
-The game looks absolutely gorgeous and has some of the best gun animations I've seen.
-The plot and story succeeded in pulling me into it. It was unique and never felt cliché to me.
-Doesn't make you feel like you're mowing down bad guys and beasts purposely, there seems to be a purpose to it, more so than most games out there.
-Perfect pacing, in my opinion.
-A variety of very different enemies, loved the all the creature designs.
-Terrific sound design.
-Ranger mode delivered a very competitive level of difficulty, even though ridiculously hard, it never felt unfair.

Cons:

-I'm running an ATI card so it gave severe performance issues in some areas, changing the graphical settings didn't change a damn thing. Went to as low as 16fps during some levels, even though it performed much better during levels very similar to it.
-A lot of shadow pop-ons during the first segment of the game.
-The bosses, although enjoyable, all seemed to follow the same pattern. There wasn't anything new the next boss.
-The A.I proved to be unbelievable stupid at times. I'd be shooting their pals right in front of them but they wouldn't respond. During the last segment of the game, some of my allies were literally sitting in the corner and pointing their gun at a wall.

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience with the game. It is flawed, but games like this are few and far between. Would've been a 9 from me if the bosses were more thoughout, like the rest of the game. Still, Metro Last Light gets an 8.5/10 (y)

Pros:

  • Smooth gameplay, not a bad port like 60% of the games,no major problems as far as i remember.
  • Looks great,the atmosphere,the surroundings,visuals everything.
  • Voice acting was Great, really draws the player in.
  • Liked how you can take your time or go in guns blazing, the option really helps.
  • You really feel when the bullet hits the enemy, really satisfying.
  • The commentary was a nice touch but should have kept out of the intense fights, hard to concentrate.
Cons:
  • Not a lot of variety in guns, altho that maybe because they wanted to keep it as real as possible.
  • Some guns like the shotgun which is mostly great in close quarters in other games was utterly useless here throughout the game IMHO.

It was a good game, but something was missing,i cant put my finger on it though. But a great game nonetheless and a well deserved 7/10.

Finished - The Swapper

It is a pretty amazing indie side-scrolling puzzle game. The concept is new. Some of the puzzles are downright difficult, but satisfying. The game was quite short, 4-5 hours max. The story is also good. The game's assets were modeled through 'Clay Models', something which has never been done before and adds extremely creepy atmosphere, which fits the setting of the game.
Sound track was Portal-esque and also added atmosphere in the game.
I did not find any cons in it, apart from it being quite short.

8.5/10. Highly recommended, especially to people looking to have a taste of innovative indie gaming.

One of the best linear scripted games I've ever played. Gorgeous visuals, beautiful environments, memorable characters, good narrative, finely polished animations

and shooting mechanics. But with all those aspects, I found its story forgettable. Uncharted 2 had a lot better story and a better plot. Hand to hand combat was

totally overhauled in UC3. The soundtrack was good matching the situations. Puzzle were far more easier than previous games but were acceptable. Overall it was a

good experience but it disappointed me a little bit.

My Score:8/10

Finished THE LAST OF US.
This is a true gem of a game. Naughty Dog delivered one of the best game of all time.

Gameplay is great. Crafting materials and weapons in real time, upgrading them etc really gives the essence of a survival game. Plus the scarcity of supplies and ammo makes you think about strategies in every encounter you make. This makes an all present tense feeling in the game. The A.I of both humans and infected enemies is great. Humans think and plan during an encounter. They try to flank you, hide from you if you get an upper hand, charge at you if they get an upper hand, sneak around etc. Infected on the other hand are menacingly scary and creepy, especially in a dark environment. Trying to sneak around a bunch of them is both tense and fun.

Graphically, game is amazing. Naughty Dog is known for pushing PS3 to its limits and they rightfully did so with this game. Lighting in this game is one of the best, if not the best that I have witnessed in any game so far. The overall theme of nature taking back the world is beautiful, technically and more so artistically. Detail is amazing, especially indoors. Rooms and halls are filled with rubble, items, notes and other stuff that makes you wonder that how hard it must be to do all this.
One thing though, graphics are not consistent, some places do look less impressive, but they are few and far between.

The sound effects in this game are also amazing. Very detailed in each area. Also, the soundtrack is heavenly, one of the best I might add.

The downside about the game that I experienced was some rare encounters against humans which were too long/had too many enemies and was not fitting in the whole survival feeling of the game. Also, the friendly A.I can be trouble some time during stealth, where your partners may not hide with you, or the may just walk in front of enemies etc, diminishing the immersion slightly.

Story wise, this is how a survival game is suppose to be. Its a fine mix of hopelessness, brutality, dread, and fear. But at the same time there are moments which are downright beautiful and uplifting. And Naughty Dog delivers this mix in such perfection that words fail to describe them. Same goes for the characters and writing in this game, perfection.
Don't know how Naughty Dog does it all. It is just something every one must experience.

Finished Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition yesterday night.

It is a one of a kind experience. While the story is pretty simple and straightforward, there is a buttload of lore in the series. As you already know, the combat in this game is one of the best out there. The game is difficult, but once you master the basic mechanisms of timing your dodges, blocking, attacking, it becomes extremely addictive. I was actually sad that the game finished when it had. I wanted it to go on for much longer, despite playing it for 60+ hours.
I bet that if you will pick up your controller 2 years from now and pop in Dark Souls on your console/PC, the nostalgic sound track will bring a tear to your eye. The boss fights are challenging, and the game requires patience. Some could finish this game within 2 hours but to cherish it, you need to play with patience to get the most out of it.

The bad things about this game were that the graphics were not upto par, some of the animations seemed stiff (like when you pull a level, there is no animation there, the person simply pops onto the lever), AI is extremely dumb at times, the User Interface is very ugly (IMO). The PC port was downright unplayable if it weren't for Durante, the guy who single-handedly made the game playable for many people, me included. If you want to play the PC version without any mods, then good luck, you are gonna need it because the game runs at a locked 720p, 30 FPS, and mouse movement is directly mapped to the analog movements (meaning that they probably spent 2 minutes mapping the keys from controller to K&M without putting any effort).

Thankfully the I made the game run at unlocked Framerate (I was getting straight 60 FPS in 99% areas of the game), unlocked resolution (ran at 1440x900), forced some Anti-Aliasing, SSAO, and Vsync on it through Durante's DSFix to make it look amazingly good.

In the end, I must say that the game itself is amazingly good. But the port made me reduce the score by a few points.

I did not experience the online play, otherwise I bet that the score I am giving would have further increased, because I heard that online play adds 50% more experience to the game.

-0.5 AI, -0.5 Graphics, -0.2 Some few stiff animations = 8.8/10 for me.
