I'm in a similair predicament rite now...

http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f67/[nba]-lcd-led-monitor-budget-121372/

Found this thread to be quite helpful, tho the buyer wasn't exactly asking the same thing as ours, but theres some sound advice from (hopefully :p) experts over there... make sure u go thru that.

So far I have made up my mind between LED HP 2311F 23", and DELL ST2420 24". Previously I had a 23" Samsung 23A in my mind, but heard some disconcerting things abt it so...

As far as Adv/Disadv concerned, lets clarify one thing: The catagory and price ranges ur mentioning have (mostly) LEDs and not LCDs on Galaxy's website. Tho I've yet to see actual PC games run on them both for comparison, Ive heard all good thing abt LED as compared to LCDs,,, on the flip side, poor LCDs (and even some LEDs) reportedly have lacklusture displays/ 'greyish' blacks and a host of other timmies that have made me stuck on my BELOVED 19" Phillips CRT monitor for so long! :)

meanwhile I strongly advise you to not hurriedly jump into any purchase (i've been trolling forums for two months now :p)

Cheers!

Uncertain budget implies you have around 15 to 20K for LCD. I would recommend

Dell ST2420L but know one thing that low budget LEDs do not have great grey tone reproduction (Vital for color luminance).

If you can find a used A+ condition Viewsonic VX2433wm, its a great monitor.

Do not fall in for marketing gimmicks like response time, contrast ratio etc. All low budget monitors are TN Panels so great response times, All monitors in this range have 1000:1 CR. and almost all 23" and 24" are 1080p.

What you need to look at is to do this simple test in the shop to see how it performs (Provided shopkeeper agrees). Black level - Lagom LCD test and see how many boxes you can see, more is better. Set Brightness to 50 before that.

Display manufactures, Dell, Viewsonic, HP (2311F 23"), Samsung all are great. Pick anyone you like.

If you are going for gaming primarily i would recommend going for ASUS M226H 18k at galaxy

2ms response time FTW!

but it can't be titled to preference right ? or it can ?

edit: went a bit around google and it can be tilted so I'll also suggest to go with this, looks extremely hot and 2ms response time is a plus point.

No need to get the 2ms Asus MS225H and sacrificing 2.5'' for that.

The response time thing is not something to die for. I've used a Dell ST2420L, HP23 something something, Samsung S23A350 and just recently bought the Samsung BX2035

The BX series was without a doubt THE BEST! It was just AMAZING. The Dell I used to have looks to damn dull infront of it. No, it's not like it's not bright. The colours look washed infront of that.
That said, the SA series is the most CRAP LED to buy.

I'd honestly recommend you get a Dell ST2420L/Dell ST2320L, whichever gives you a better price/size ratio. They're both very good. Much better than the alternatives.

The Asus has more problems than the smaller size. You need a proper table for it, because it's aesthetically beautiful stand is not the best when it comes to positioning, and the displays viewing angles aren't the best either, despite it being a very, very good display in terms of picture quality. That said, I don't think it's a wise option to cut on size and get that.

And, if you ARE to drop down the size, the better option would be the Samsung BX2035. It's only half an inch smaller diagonally, but it's much better in terms of viewing angles, colours, brilliance etc. Really the stuff to die for if it was available here in the bigger sizes.

Ill agree with ABBY.. ASUS MS226H is one of the most beautiful LED I have interms of specs and design.. They went wrong with the stand.. It has a curved angle and it cant stand 90 degrees straight which puts strain in ur eyes and after sometime of use ur eyes will hurt.. If you can it get it wall mounted then you should go for MS248H something like that 24inch model I bought it for 22.5k 6 months back. wall mounted it and now its perfect...
