So I'm thinking about trying the genre, but I've no idea where to start. So could someone please suggest me a good, beginner level and interesting enough RPG which a noob who's always played GTA/AC can play?
Thank You :)

And also, it shouldn't be slow, I hate SLOW games! The story should progress with levels :)

Usually RPG games have an open world or a sandbox, and lots of sidequests. That is what games like Witcher, Witcher 2, Skyrim, Xenoblade, Persona 4 would offer you. The games usually take 20-40 hours to complete, but can go over 150 hours if you try to complete each quest and attain 100% completion rate.

IMO my favorite genre is RPG. Because I love the environment and the world that the best ones offer. Games like Dark Souls, which have a huge yet amazingly consistent and connected world are what I crave for most (despite the story being very subtle). There are some FPS games that offer RPG elements too, like STALKER series.

There is generally amazing replay-ability value in RPG games (like Witcher 2 and Dark Souls for example).

I'm not sure if that answers my question yet : WHICH RPG to start with? Because I've never really played on before and I need to learn the basics of RPGs so it should be a detailed one :)

Well...
For a starter...
Go play Skyrim Or Witcher 1 Or Borderland, its not so hard, not so childish.
just Okay-ish for begineers... althought, there is no game for a noob/pro.
cuz you go from Noob > Pro.

Skyrim is way toooo easy so it should be good for you i.e unless you play at master difficulty right away.
I didnt find the dark souls very hard either because I have played rpgs all my life.
Besides that rather unconventional rpgs are found in the form of the risen series(my personal favourites) but many players find them hard so wouldn't recommend them to you right away.
A very old RPG but possibly the best rpg ever made and IMO the best game ever is gothic 2 night of the raven. But be warned, it's harder than dark souls itself.
My second favourite rpg is the witcher 2 which is an awesome game all around.
I found skyrim to be grossly overrated but I really can't complain since I wasted about 40 hours on that game with 2 different characters. So paisa wasool or in this case bandwidth wasool :p
Other options but play skyrim before these so you get some exp:
Two worlds
Gothic 3
Will tell more later

Play Dragon Age Origins if you are interested in fantasy or the Mass effect if you are interested in science fiction. Also mass effect is more like a shooter if thats what you like. Both have great stories.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I guess I'll be starting off with Fallout 3 and Witcher. And how's the Fable series for a complete noob?

I would strongly recommend starting with the Mass Effect series. Ideal for action gamers because it has many action elements and simple gameplay. Although the first is more RPG than action, but if you want awesome story and good gameplay, that is the way to go.

If you can, download a DS emulator and play Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 1 and 2. BEYOND epic games!
You're recommending these to a complete noob...? o_O

Dood, as good as the SMT games are, they aren't for noobs.

Anywhozzle, waleed3601 - Play the Mass Effect Trilogy. Best RPG series that you can start with imo.

I don't play a whole lot of RPGs. I WAS confused a bit in the start but it's quite easy to get a hang of. I'll say it again, Devil Survivor 1 and 2 are E-P-I-C games!

Also, it doesn't have anything like those Tartarus things. If you fail a level, you can just try again. Or quicksave in the middle.

MegamanEXE - Devil Survivor is actually one of the harder SMT games out there, it requires quite a bit of grinding to defeat some bosses.
So, for a newbie like Waleed, who doesn't want his game to be slow, that'd be quite annoying.

TRPG's are not for newbs, ARPG's are. :p
