Pakistan’s famous fiction writer Ishtiaq Ahmed passed away

Lahore – Famous fiction writer Ishtiaq Ahmed has passed away, a private TV channel reported on Tuesday.

According to details, he was pronounced dead at the Karachi airport due to cardiac arrest. Ahmad was a fiction writer from Lahore and was famous for his detective novels in Urdu language.

The author of highest number of novels (700),Ahmad was popular for works such as Inspector Jamshed series, Inspector Kamran Mirza series, and Shoki series. He also served as an editor at Bachon Ka Islam magazine.

May his soul rest in peace, he will be missed. Our heartiest condolences are with his family and friends.

Renowned novelist Ishtiaq Ahmed passes away at 74

Renowned fiction novelist Ishtiaq Ahmed died of a heart attack on Tuesday while he was waiting to board a flight to Lahore at the Karachi airport.

Ahmed, who was 74 years old at the time of his death, was an author of children’s literature, known mostly among the youth for his suspenseful Urdu novels featuring inspector Jamshed and Kamran Mirza and the famous characters of Mehmood, Farooq, Farzana and Shoki, Express News reported.

History and fiction: ‘Pakistani writers are introspective’

He penned around 800 novels, most of which centred around the theme of spies and detectives.

The novelist wrote his first book in 1973 and was at height of his fame during the 1970s and all through the 90s.

Ahmed leaves behind his wife, five sons and three daughters.

He was a mentor, a scholar, a true patriot and fought the good war. He raised generations with his novels, he inspired and he encouraged.

Only after its lost do we miss what we've lost.

Ishtiaq Ahmed and A.Hameed were the only two authors whose novels i wouldn't miss as a kid, Both of them passed away :(

yeah saw the news on Geo and i was really shocked. he was a very good writer. perhaps one of my best. i still remember his Novels and characters he made. there were some special novels that i still remember. really a very sad news and we have lost another very good writer.

grew up with his literature. Mehmood, Farooq, Farzana, Inspector Jamshed, Inspector Kamran Mirza, Asif, Aftab, Farhat, Shoki Brothers, Prof Dawood and many other memorable characters, i have almost half of his collection, he was here in Karachi for the literature festival / book fair at expo and i had plans to go there but due to uni i couldn't :(

A part of my childhood died with Ishtiaq Ahmad. It was mind-boggling, the volume of novels he churned out year in year out. He took up editorship of the 'Bachon ka Islam' magazine a decade or so back. Turned it into a quality magazine for kids.

May Allah grant him a place in Jannah. Aameen.

    You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
