Salam.... i need ur help again..... i m having some problems in my pc and i dont know what to do..... whenever i m using my pc everything is fine.... but just when i play games after 2-3 mins my pc freezes and crash..... screen goes black and one or two time an error comes that ur gpu has stopped working....... this happened to me when i was playing fifa 10 and saints row 2....... as i have gtx 260 i dont think tht my gpu isnt sufficient enough to play these games.... is it my psu which isnt sufficient enough to run my pc...... or there is some other problems...... my psu is asus 500 watt and my rig is

q6600 g0 stepping
asus p5ql-pro mobo
evga gtx 260 superclocked edition

now plz guyz help me and tell me what shud i do...... when i checked the temps at idle my cpu temp was 50C so tell me what shud i do......

its actually 550w for his card with 36 A on 12v.now his supply says 16,18 and 18 under 12v,but then it says 360w max.does it mean that its actually giving just 360/12=30A?

PSU is causing the problem as ur using QUAD and GTX260 on Cm500.

get SilverStone Strider 500W but SilverStone Zeus 650W is prefered!

i think ASUS P55-GA will also do the job but as ur in overclocking(seen ur other thread) so get some powerfull PSU!!

I have updated my driver i was having problems so i thought it might be due to driver so i updated...... maine direct setup file run ki thi of the updated driver ya phir main pehlay poorana driver uninstall karoon aur naya driver install karoon..... wht shud i do...... i have updated my driver but i dont know what is the problem.....

@mr afq i m not using cm 500 i m using asus 500 watt psu......

Fajoo is also using a ASUS 500 or i think a 550 watt PSU for his GTX 260. Most prolly its your PSU, it is not giving the power required by the GTX 260.

There could be one of the two following reason.
Overheating
PSU

For overheating I can only advice you is to check if there is some dust in your System Unit. Clean all the fans.

To check weather it is PSU related. Try disconnecting your DVD or something that uses power but PC can run without it. If the games work then it is psu related and you might want to get more watt psu.

You guys are about to get a very detailed lesson PSUs from Sir Ahsan :p

Its not PSU, 500watt PSU is enough for GTX260, a friend is running nearly same config on CM500 which is not as good as Asus 500watt. NO NEED TO CHANGE PSU IT IS FINE


Since the problem comes in games, either its your CPU or GPU. Check CPU heatsink and see load temps under Prime95. Also check your GPU temps and try to use another GPU instead to see if the problem still remains.

I just ran a 10 min test gpu test on OCCT..... and everything worked fine..... when i went to psu test it told me tht run this test on your own risk and something which i think it says that psu aint enough to run this test...... secondly i have checked the temps of of gpu and it temps are 50 C....... and for cpu it is around 67 -68 C while running prime 95

Bro, first of all, please inform if this problem is happening in every game or only in fifa 2k10?? test atleast 5-6 games and check if you get same problem in all games.....your psu is good enough to handle your gpu, 36 amps are required by gtx260 in a highend system which your system is not, so 30 amps would do just fine.....

remove the drivers and then run driver cleaner to remove the remaining registries....then install different driver and then check......

About OCCT, you are using an older version of it, download the latest version and run it......don't be afraid of the message occt gives, it doesn't do anything. Check all this and let us know...

Also check and reconnect the 2 six pin connectors in the gpu properly, they might be loose....

You cannot rule out that it might be the PSU. But I must agree that the problem could be with the processor. I don't think its the GPU. Although I might be wrong. If by chance you have your old processor or your friends are nice enough to give you theirs for testing. Then replace the processor and test the games. If it works then its your processor if not, then we will look for other solution.

^ it will tell the sustained power coming through psu in full load....it shows graphs at the end of benchmark....

^ no it wont but offcourse if it is some crappy psu, it wouldn't be able to handle the stress put by occt and may shut down or restart the system.

    You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
