All emulators are CPU intensive. And all of them use either 2 cores or 3 cores of the processor. However the framerate is directly proportional to the clock speed of the processor, and scales very well. I see you have an unlocked processor. You can try and overclock if you are comfortable with overclocking, because that will surely give a huge boost to the framerate.

There is a custom resolution option in PCSX2 that will allow you to set whatever resolution you want to render the game at. But I am not sure how well it works, since I've only played at 1080p.

The problem with PS2 emulation is that the scene isn't prospering as well as the Wii emulation scene. There are some software limitations that will limit you to certain framerates no matter how amazing your processor is.

I guess that makes sense, I already have my processor OC'd at 4.4Ghz so I'm fine with it for now. I can easily OC it to much more and keep it stable as my cooling setup is pretty neat with Noctua fans which I have yet to install but I'd prefer to keep it at 4.4Ghz anyway and work with whatever it can provide.
Having an option to play at 4K is just good enough and I guess it'll depend on which game I'm playing and such, let's see how it goes. Thanks a bunch for your input, man.

Even my budget laptop seems to be able to run Persona 4 at 2X Native just fine while giving ~150% performance when limiter is off, a few months ago I could barely get 100% performance with limiter off and frameskipping enabled.

Even though gdsx hasn't released a DX12 plugin yet, the difference is pretty substantial when combined with the latest dev builds and DX12 on Win 10. I couldn't run PCSX2 for shit on Win 8.1

behold, the power of a 5200U with an internal GPU :p

community made widescreen patch makes it work fan-tastic full screen, no need for black bars of squished image and scales superbly on a TV with HDMI too.

^^I've actually been running this on my PC too but I get alot of slowdowns at 2x res when in battles because I'm using a built in GPU. Also I'm on WIndows 7.

Dude upgrade to Win 10. It's super smooth and fast and DX12 is a pretty noticeable performance booster, even for apps/games not designed with DX12 in mind. The rendering methods make a difference even for DX11 stuff , at least that's what i've noticed.

Additionally, if you're getting drops at 2X, try dropping to 800x600 (something akin to 1.5x, which will mostly retain the image quality and give a good boost) and use FXAA instead of any MSAA or hardware based AA. FXAA has great coverage at little to no performance cost.

    Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

    PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

    did you try setting up Google Payments? For UBL you may have to get it enabled for internet transactions, Naya should work without it!
