[h=1]Fortnite’s live rocket launch was amazing, and everyone got along[/h]

[h=2]One of Fortnite’s first real-time events went off without a hitch[/h]

The countdown is over, and a mass of Fortnite players had gathered near the rocket to see what was about to happen. It was an interesting scene from the ground; no one was attacking each other, a few people built benches to give other players a better view of the actions, and there was a lot of dancing.
And then the rocket took off.
It’s hard to tell exactly what happened and in what order; there was a series of events that we’re still trying to piece together based on replays. But it looked as if the rocket broke apart after launch, and then a portion fell back down, firing a laser at the ground. Another rocket then appeared through a portal that seemed to have been opened by the first rocket, flew around for a bit, before it too disappeared. And then another rocket appeared from a portal, flew straight up and opened what seems to be some kind of rift in the sky. It was a spectacular series of events.
The most likely theory right now is that there was really only one rocket, and the multiple jumps showed it flying through space and time.

The second rocket emerging from the portal Epic Games via Polygon

The rocket flow around near the ground for a short while Epic Games via Polygon

The portal that fired, or teleported, the final rocket Epic Games via Polygon

The final crack in the sky, after it was all over Epic Games via PolygonExpect a huge number of images and videos from different perspectives looking for clues about what happened in the next few hours, however.
So what does this mean? Will the rift in the heavens open even further, allowing aliens or time travelers to enter our world? We have some idea about what to expect next from skins that were data mined from existing Fortnite files in the game, but we still have until July 12 before the new season begins.
A lot of weird things can happen in that time.

[h=1]Epic reveals the start date of Fortnite Season 5[/h]
[h=2]Meanwhile, season four’s rifts continue to grow[/h]
ortnite Battle Royale season four is coming to a close, but season five is right around the corner, according to Epic Games. The Fortnitedeveloper announced last week that season five of the game will begin on July 12 at 4 a.m. ET — just one day after the end of season four.
While season five is upon us, we still don’t know much about what changes the new season might bring. Last weekend’s missile launch, and the rifts it opened up in the sky and on the map, are sure to play a huge role, but there’s no telling to what extent they’ll impact the gameplay. For now, the rifts on the map continue to get bigger and bigger with each passing day.
Just like previous seasons of Fortnite, season five will start with server maintenance that will keep the game down for an hour or two. Players will then be able to download the new patch, v5.0, and immediately drop into a game to see what changes have occurred. While we don’t have any official word on its existence yet, we can also say pretty safely that season five will have a Battle Pass that will give players special unlockable cosmetics and rewards for playing the game and earning experience.

[h=1]Epic teases Fortnite Season 5, confirms release date[/h]

[h=2]This could even be a teaser for one of the season’s new skins[/h]

Epic Games has released its first official tease of FortniteSeason 5 and confirmed a few things we already knew. In a tweet on Monday morning, the company stated that the newestFortniteseason was just three days away. While the July 12 release date was previously announced, it’s nice to have it confirmed since Epic can sometimes be a little late on their release — looking at you Playground Mode.

While the official release date is nice, it’s not the only tease in the tweet, which seems to feature a mask appearing from one of the rifts that keep popping up in-game. While fan speculation around the mask is already heating up online, it seems most likely that this is a reference to the Japanese kitsune, or fox. According to Japanese yokai folklore, the kitsune can shapeshift — mostly into human form — and possesses various supernatural attributes.
While it’s difficult to say what this might mean for Fortnite Season 5, it does seem to be the first reference to Japan we’ve seen so far. While other eras of history have appeared — such as wooden carriages, pirate anchors or references to ancient Egypt — this is the first time we’ve seen something that points to Ancient Japan as a possible influence to this season’s heavily speculated, but still unconfirmed, time-travel theme.
More importantly, at least for most players, is the possibility that this could tease a kitsune skin unlocked through the Season 5 Battle Pass. The first teases for Season 4 revealed skins that were available through its Battle Pass so it doesn’t seem like much of a stretch.
While we probably won’t know anything for sure until the season actually launches at 4 a.m. EDT on July 12, we will probably get a few more teasers in the coming days.

[h=1]Fortnite Season 5 Battle Pass, skin upgrades and hidden challenges[/h]

[h=2]Fortnite’s long-term challenges are back for a new season and more mysteries[/h]

Fortnite’s newest Battle Pass is here, and while we have seen everything you can unlock from leveling it up, it seems it still has a few more surprises in store.
Much like last year, the Season 5 Battle Pass has a few hidden challenge categories to complete before you really unlock everything. The first two relate to the first and last skins that players can unlock in the Battle Pass (just like Season 4’s Carbide and Omega). The Drift and Ragnarok skins will both have special pieces of armor and clothing that unlock and can be equipped optionally. After unlocking four pieces of armor, these challenges will also reward players with a custom themed axe that matches the skin they are attached to.

The challenge list for the Drift skin Epic GamesEach piece of new gear for these two skins will be locked behind a challenge that requires a certain amount of experience to unlock. That means that these cosmetics are tied mostly to amount of time played, rather than a more specific challenge. Thankfully, these challenges will be available for you to complete forever, unlike last season when they disappeared as soon as the season ended. That means that everyone who gets a Battle Pass is likely to unlock the fully upgraded versions of these skins, it’s just a matter of when.

The challenge list for the Ragnarok skin Epic GamesThe third and final challenge that comes with this season’s Battle Pass is the Road Trip Challenge, which Season 4 players will recognize as being almost identical to the Blockbuster Challenge. This challenge requires players to complete all the weekly challenges over seven weeks before unlocking a secret legendary skin. During Season 4, that skin was called The Traveler, and his release kicked off the beginning of teases for Season 5.

Road Trip Challenge Epic GamesWhile the season may have just started, it’s never too early to get a jump on completing those challenges. After all, there are probably still a few more secrets that we have yet to find in Season 5.

[h=1]Fortnite’s Playground Mode will return on July 25 with new options, more loot[/h]

[h=2]This is the first time fans will get to explore Playground mode in Season 5[/h]

One of Fortnite’s most popular modes now has a return date. Developer Epic Games announced on Twitter that Playground Mode will return to the game on July 25, with a few new upgrades, as a part of patch v5.10.
It’s unclear exactly what upgrades might make their way to the mode during this patch, but Epic was kind enough to tease of few of the things we can expect.

Fortnite

Playground mode returns on July 25th!

Set up squad battles with new team select options, skirt around in an ATK and gear up with lots more loot.

Look out for the full list of changes in the 5.10 patch notes.

10:00 PM - Jul 23, 2018

Twitter Ads info and privacy

The first change seemingly on its way is a new team select option, which should allow players to go head-to-head more efficiently, and practice their build battling. This addresses one of the community’s biggest complaints about the mode, which they argued allowed players to edit structures placed by other players because they were technically allies. This made build battling hard to practice since that isn’t something you can normally do.
That seems to be the only concrete change Epic is teasing for now, but the tweet also mentions this new version of Playground containing, “lots more loot.” We don’t know what exactly this might be, but it too might be aimed at fixing a common complaint: there wasn’t enough loot or ammo. Materials in Playground mode were plentiful, but it was far too easy to run out of ammo, shields or even find the guns you wanted. Hopefully, whatever change this tweet might imply will fix those issues, and let players get back to the action even faster in Playground mode.
As for the more creatively minded Playground players, this will be the first version of Playground to feature the new ATK vehicle. That means we can likely expect some intricately designed race tracks and stunt courses. Or hey, maybe you just want to drop in and enjoy a round of golf?
This new version of Playground combined with already announced changes to slurp juice and the new SMG, hints that patch v5.10 is shaping up to be pretty huge. We won’t know exactly what’s in the patch until the notes are released later this week.

[h=1]Fortnite’s v5.10 update is here: 5 things to know[/h]

[h=2]This is a patch with some big implications, this is what you need to know[/h]

Fortnite’s latest update brings some interesting balance updates to the game as well as a few other changes that have may have gone otherwise unnoticed when you first scan the change list. There are many changes that may seem small at first, but work together in such a way that high-level or even casual play could be changed significantly.
This is a pretty beefy update, and fan reaction was decidedly mixed before the servers came back online so people could actually see the changes in action. The question is how everything will hold up once the players stream in. It’s going to take a little bit of time for everyone to play enough to get a sense for how strategies have changed, and which ones will stay the same. Watching streams for the next few days is going to be an adventure.
Let’s take a look at some of the most important, or at least interesting, details from the patch notes.
[h=2]BUILDING HAS BEEN NERFED[/h]The starting health of all building materials except for metal has been decreased, and metal build time has been increased to 25 seconds from 20. Even pickaxe damage to structures has been increased.
Epic has been open about wanting to create new opportunities for late game play, and these changes show how serious they are about decreasing turtling and upping the action.
The risk is that Fortnite’s building mechanic may be de-emphasized to the point where gunplay becomes much more important than building skill. It’s hard to know how all this will play out until the best players have a few days to try things out.
[h=2]NEW SMG![/h]Epic Games has been tinkering with Fortnite’s SMG selection since last week’s patch, and adding the Compact SMG with its 50 round magazine and 23-24 base damage is certainly going to mix things up. Combine this new gun with the flimsier wooden walls described above and you may find yourself with a much more aggressive style of play being rewarded.
Which is probably the entire point! But it’s yet another way some of the character of Fortnitecould be washed away. Players need to be able to construct a structure quickly and gain cover for at least a second or two, but it seems like Epic is rebalancing the game to turn that kind of building into more of a momentary respite.

Epic Games[h=2]PLAYGROUND MODE IS BACK, WITH SOME BEEFY UPDATES[/h]The Playground Mode was a great way to goof off with some friends without the pressure of everyone else trying to kill you, and the fact it’s coming back is great news. It seems that Epic learned from its past mistakes however, and won’t be releasing it until Wednesday, July 25.
The issue with the original Playground Mode was technical rather than creative, and it’s likely that Epic wants to wait a day until the rush of players after the patch calms down a bit to make sure the system can handle the extra load.
But it should be worth the wait. “New team select options let you and your squad set up team battles for practice and training,” the Fortnite team wrote in the patch notes. “Race! Create, and share your screenshots and cinematics on social.”
Being able to set up private games with adjustable teams and the freedom to enjoy all the new minigames from Season 5 at your own pace is going to be a blast. The increased rocket spawns and inventory limits, increased bounce and launch pad drops and decreased respawn timer all make it sound like the focus is gong to be on the ability to do and make some ridiculous things.
We’ll have more when we’re able to test the mode.

Epic Games via Polygon[h=2]RUNNING JUST BECAME A LITTLE EASIER[/h]Most players spend more time running than walking, so giving players the option to run as the default and hold a button to walk is a welcome one. It’s a small thing, but it’s the kind of update you don’t realize you wanted until you turn it on.
[h=2]A LITTLE BIT OF THE FUN HAS BEEN REMOVED[/h]“Players will no longer hold weapons while emoting if they’re riding in an All Terrain Kart,” the Fortnite team wrote in the patch notes. These sorts of bugs are always bound to be removed, but it was fun while it lasted. I’ll always remember dancing with my guns while driving around the map.

It is not uncommon to see parents hire coaches for the kids in sports such as football or baseball. However, it appears that the practice has now spilled over into the realm of eSports, as parents have begun to hire coaches to help their kids in the popular battle royale game Fortnite. Considering a recent tournament was worth $130,000, it’s not surprising to see parents investing in their children’s hobbies.
Moreover, it is a rather simple process, as coaches can be found on social media or contracting sites such as Gamer Sensei and Bidvine, which states that more than 1,400 Fortnitecoaches have been hired since early March. The rate depends on the coach, but the consensus seems to be around $15-20 per hour up to $50 for 3 – 4 hours worth of coaching.

Of course, some parents are hiring coaches for themselves, too, so they can play at a competitive level with their children, such as Twitch’s Adrian Luff of San Macros, Texas, who stated, “Not dying in the first two minutes would be nice.” Regardless of why a parent hires a coach, Fortnite coaching is seemingly a good way to help kids who are not the best at the popular game, as some kids are reporting solo wins within a week and others are throwing down multiples wins when Victory Royales were elusive before.

[h=1]Fortnite ditches Android’s Google Play store, will release direct to players[/h]

[h=2]This is a big move from Epic Games[/h]

Fortnite’s upcoming launch on Android devices will bypass the Google Play store and will instead be offered directly to players through Epic Games’ own website and app.
“Epic wants to have a direct relationship with our customers on all platforms where that’s possible,” Epic CEO Tim Sweeney told The Verge in an email interview. “The great thing about the Internet and the digital revolution is that this is possible, now that physical storefronts and middlemen distributors are no longer required.”
Avoiding the Google Play store allows Epic Games to bypass the 30 percent cut Google takes from app sales.
“The 30 percent store tax is a high cost in a world where game developers’ 70 percent must cover all the cost of developing, operating, and supporting their games,” Sweeney said. “There’s a rationale for this on console where there’s enormous investment in hardware, often sold below cost, and marketing campaigns in broad partnership with publishers.”
Android is one of the few platforms where this sort of direct relationship Epic’s talking about is possible; the only other places Epic is able to avoid going through an official store of some sort are the Windows PC and Mac versions of Fortnite.
You currently can’t launch an app on iOS devices without going through Apple’s App Store, and game consoles like Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One force publishers to go through their official stores for both game downloads and the sale of in-game currency.
Sweeney told Eurogamer that if they could have released Fortnite directly to consumers on iOS devices, they would have.
The question is whether this method of distribution introduces more risk to the player; there is going to be a huge incentive for hackers to trick players into downloading malware instead of the game’s official installer. On the other hand, the game has the same problem on PC; the onus will be on the player to make sure they’re getting the game from a reputable source.

[h=1]Samsung announces timed Fortnite exclusivity for Android beta[/h]
[h=2]The rest of us will be waiting for a bit[/h]

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 9 today, although most of the details about the device were already known due to a series of extensive leaks and even “accidentally” released promotional videos. One of the more interesting rumors had to do with gaming, however: Samsung was rumored to have a timed exclusive on the Android version of Fortnite.
The rumors were partially true. Tim Sweeney came onstage during the event to awkwardly announced that players with select Samsung devices can begin playing the beta as of today. Galaxy owners will also get an exclusive skin, shown above.

But it’s not just the new Note 9 and Tab S4 getting Fortnite; owners of a range of recent Samsung devices — the S9 / S9 Plus, Note 8, Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Tab S3 — can all start playing the beta today. You’ll be able to install Fortnite from Samsung’s Game Launcher app.
We don’t know when other players will be given access to the beta — but it was discussed as being “in the next few days” — or which Android devices specifically are powerful enough to run the game. But this is great news for any Samsung fans out there who already have a device and are ready to play.
Anyone interesting in buying a Galaxy Note 9 will also get a whole lot of virtual currency. “There’s a special offer available for consumers who pre-order Galaxy Note 9 between Aug. 10 and Aug. 23, 2018,” Samsung announced. “Consumers can choose either 15,000 V-bucks with the Fortnite Galaxy skin or a pair of AKG noise-cancelling headphones — or get both for just $99.”
We’ll be sure to post hands-on thoughts once we’re able to play this version of the game ourselves.

[h=1]Fortnite keyboard-and-mouse players on PS4 will be matchmade with PC[/h]
[h=2]Matchmaking changes coming soon, Epic says[/h]

Fortnite Battle Royale players who use a keyboard and mouse on the PlayStation 4 will be paired against those using the same control scheme, whether on PC or console, Epic Gamesannounced in a state-of-development post yesterday.
Input-based matchmaking isn’t a part of Fortnite yet but, when it is, it will extend to the entire party. That means if anyone in the group is using a keyboard and mouse on a console, the whole party will be matchmade against keyboard-and-mouse players on PC or PS4.
The Xbox One currently has no official support for keyboard-and-mouse controls (though Microsoft is said to be working on delivering it for the console’s regular fall update). Keyboard-and-mouse users are considered to be at an advantage over gamepad players, particularly for the accuracy speed and improvement gained by aiming with a mouse.
Epic’s development update didn’t say anything about PC players using a gamepad being matchmade to gamepad users on that or other platforms, however. Epic did say that custom controls are expected by the end of the year, and users will be able to completely remap a gamepad to their preference.
In other news, a competition system is expected for Fortnite sometime this fall. Epic said that development on a competitive system began recently, and what it has in mind would let players to compete directly in the same match “and be recognized for their accomplishments.” No other details were given.
Lastly, Epic mentioned that Fortnite players on PS4 Pro systems will soon see support for 4K resolution.
Fortnite Battle Royale yesterday saw a giant, weird cube arrive in the game via lightning storm. Players are still figuring out what it does and why it’s here. (Maybe Peter Molyneux is inside?)

[h=1]PS4 Boss Leans on Short-Term Thinking for Lack of Fortnite Crossplay Support[/h]

Sony's PlayStation 4 is currently the only platform that doesn't allow crossplay support forFortnite (not to mention other games), and the console manufacturer's boss has now explained why that is. Years ago, the idea of crossplay support on a large scale for a game as big as Fortnite seemed like a pipe-dream. Gamers had to own games on the same platforms as their friends if they wanted to play with them. It was just the way the gaming industry operated for many years.
Early on, it wasn't just that players couldn't play Fortnite on PlayStation with their friends playing on Xbox or Nintendo Switch, but also that, if they logged into their account on the PS4, they couldn't go back and play on a different platform. From that point forward, their account was attached to that console. It ignited a controversy in June that some believe resulted in the company's stock price falling slightly. And now, Sony has explained why they are holding such an anti-consumer stance - and the reason is absurd.

Speaking at the IFA 2018 expo in Berlin, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida explained that the reason they don't support crossplay with other consoles - for Fortnite or any other game (though it's worth pointing out that PS4 games in the past have supported crossplay with PC) - because those consoles are inferior to the PlayStation.

"On cross-platform, our way of thinking is always that PlayStation is the best
place to play. Fortnite, I believe, partnered with PlayStation 4 is the best experience for users, that's our belief. But actually, we already opened some games as cross-platform with PC and some others, so we decide based on what is the best user experience. That is our way of thinking for cross-platform."

While it may be considered the best place to play first party games made for the PlayStation, it's a bit illogical to label the PS4 the best place to play Fortnite, of all games, because it's the one platform that's inclusive. All other platforms support crossplay while the PS4 doesn't. Furthermore, both the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch have inherent advantages over the PS4, with the One X being the most powerful console ever made while the Switch allows gamers to play Fortnite on-the-go - something that allows the platform to rival iOS and Android users.
For now, it seems like Sony will continue to trudge forward with their isolationist philosophy regarding crossplay support, especially for games like Fortnite, but it's something that is very much on the minds of Microsoft and Nintendo as the current console generation slowly starts to wind down. Already, Microsoft is not only looking to support crossplay on a grand scale with the rumored Xbox Scarlett consoles but also online streaming for games. Both companies want people to play multi-platform games with their friends on whichever consoles they want.

Source: Kenichiro Yoshida (via
The Independent)

Hahaha best place to play fortnite is ps4 :p what BS man, switch let's ppl have fortnite on the GO and xbx is the most powerful console what kinda BS talk is this ? sony just admit it that this BS of no crossplay is you guys being arrogant pricks..

[h=1]Fortnite patch 5.40 introduced a ton of weapon changes, here’s what they really mean[/h]
[h=2]A whole lot of changes that didn’t actually change too much[/h]

Fortnite’s latest patch has arrived, and while most of the attention will rightly be placed on the new High Stakes event and the game mode that came with it, patch 5.40 also made a whole lot of weapon changes that are worth talking about.
The first change, and likely the most important, is that the burst rifle received a few much needed buffs. Ever since first-shot accuracy was added to the game back in Season 3, the burst rifle has fallen behind its steady-firing counterpart. Thankfully, Epic has finally decided to take a look at the weapon and give it some of the attention it needed.
The buffs start with a boost to the accuracy of the gun’s second shot which should help players more consistently take advantage of the burst rifle’s high damage — because it will be easier to land shots. The other buff is an increase in accuracy when aiming down the weapon’s sights. These buffs, along with the nerfs to the gun’s effectiveness while moving, cement the rifle’s place as a high quality mainstay of mid-range combat in Fortnite.
That’s about it for actual weapon changes this patch, but there are several changes to other things about weapons like spawn rates and rarity that are important as well.
First of all, the rare rocket launcher has been taken out of the game, while the epic and legendary versions of the same weapon will spawn a little more often to help offset the change. The legendary bolt-action sniper rifle is also gone, along with the rare pistol and the common suppressed sub-machine gun. Remote explosives are now epic, instead of rare, and Port-a-Forts are now rare instead of Epic. Semi-auto snipers also had their rarity decreased as they went from epic and legendary to uncommon and rare — they also should spawn a little more often now. Similarly, the dual pistols and the suppressed pistol all went from epic and legendary to rare and epic, respectively, without any other changes.
While longtime players may not see much need for these kinds of changes, they actually go a long way in helping new players better understand the game. The weapon rarity is a quick and easy way to see if one gun is better than another, so it’s best for Epic to keep up with the trends of the community and let rarity colors reflect that to better help new players learn what people use.
The final change worth mentioning that’s coming through with this patch is that the revolver is being vaulted. Chances are, you won’t miss it much. But, in a recent developer update, Epic Games reminded us that vaulting weapons is a way to work on those items quietly and possibly bring them back when they are in a better place overall.
By and large, these weapon changes that came along with patch 5.40 aren’t a massive deal. But, they’re worth keeping in mind when you suddenly see that one of your favorite guns has a new rarity color; don’t worry, it’s no better or worse than it was yesterday.

[h=1]Epic Games announce the Fall Skirmish, 6 weeks of competitive Fortnite[/h]

[h=2]Epic’s second major tournament should be starting soon[/h]

Epic Game’s Summer Skirmish, the developer’s first long-term Fortnitecompetition, came to an end just a few weeks ago at PAX West. But Epic is wasting no time gearing up for the next competition, as the developer announced on Twitter on Monday afternoon that the Fall Skirmish event would be starting soon.
According to Epic’s tweet, the Fall Skirmish will have a total prize pool of $10 million, which will be given out to the top performing competitors during the event’s six weeks of competition.
While we don’t know much else about the event, we can expect — based on the Summer Skirmish — that there will be a series of rotating modes and popular Fortnitepersonalities to help host the competition. During the summer event, Epic invited various professional players and popular streaming to compete each week in a variety of events, sometimes in duos and other times individually. Epic often hosted two days of events each week, in order to give North America and Europe their own separate days of competition.
It’s unclear if this Skirmish event will once again end with a blowout celebration like theSummer Skirmish at PAX West, but if it does, it’s likely that fans will have another chance to compete for their own share of the price pool this fall.

[h=1]Fortnite’s Fall Skirmish begins Sept. 21, with Showdown Royale tournament to follow[/h]

[h=2]The six-week event has a $10 million prize pool, but players can win elsewhere[/h]

Fortnite’s next seasonal competition, the Fall Skirmish, begins Sept. 21. Starting next Friday, players will have the chance to win money based on their in-game success. But this time around, Fall Skirmish won’t be the only way for Fortnite fans to cash in on their playtime. There will also be Showdown Royale, an in-game tournament that Epic will host in early October.
As with the Summer Skirmish, there’s a lot of cash at stake for Fall Skirmish: $10,000,000 over the six-week period. Epic Games is tweaking the kinds of modes players can participate in during the autumnal event, however.
This is how Epic Games describes the competition:
The new approach for Fall Skirmish will include both Competitive and Entertainment play formats. We’re looking to incorporate some of these new formats into our large-scale events in 2019. During Fall Skirmish, players will proudly represent themed teams and earn points based on their performances in both play formats. Each week will pose new challenges like white-knuckle ATK races, masterful golf outings, mini-games, and of course high skill competition every weekend.
Next week, there will be more information on the format that Epic is going for during the first week of Fall Skirmish. It will continue to update players on what to expect on a weekly basis, leading up to the conclusion during TwitchCon. Those dates are Oct. 26-28.
There are way fewer Showdown Royale details right now, but the “tournament system” will be open to all players. It sounds like it will comprise multiple competitive events, each one with prize money opportunities. We’ll surely learn more as October — and Fortnite season six — approaches.

[h=1]Fortnite for Switch won’t require Nintendo’s premium online service for play[/h]

[h=2]Fortnite can be played without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription[/h]

Nintendo will launch its for-pay online service for the Nintendo Switch next week, but fans ofFortnite don’t need to worry about another bill; the popular online battle royale game will not require a subscription to the new service.
“Beginning September 18, 2018, a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to participate in co-op and competitive online features for many first- and third-party Nintendo Switch games, including Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,” Nintendo states on its official FAQ. But it makes a special note about Fortnite.
“Some games, such as Fortnite, can be played online without a Nintendo Switch membership,” Nintendo explains.
This is great news to the legions of Fortnite fans who enjoy playing the game on the go, and it’s a smart move for Nintendo to carve out an exemption for the massive free-to-play game.Fortnite was also the first game to allow standard voice chat through any headset without the use of Nintendo’s smartphone app; Nintendo seems comfortable making sure the game doesn’t have to conform to some of its more arcane restrictions on the Nintendo Switch.

[h=1]Epic has announced the details of Fortnite’s Fall Skirmish[/h]

[h=2]The $10 million tournament kicks off this week[/h]

Epic Games has announced what fans can expect from this year’s second competitiveFortnitetournament season, the Fall Skirmish.
Perhaps the biggest change from the Summer Skirmish, which finished a few weeks ago at PAX West, is the addition of Clubs. For the Fall Skirmish, Epic has created five clubs — Fort Knights, Lucky Llamas, Dusty Dogs, Rift Raiders and Bush Bandits. It’s unclear how their rosters will be determined, so it’s possible that some players who are teammates elsewhere could end up facing each other on different clubs.
Players will team with their clubs when squad or duos game modes are played. Each player’s performance contributes to their club’s standings under a system called Club Points. At the end of the Fall Skirmish the club with the most points wins $4 million.
The tournament will be divided into six weeks of competitions — which Epic had previously announced — and will span a variety of different game types and team sizes. While the game types themselves still remain a mystery, Epic has let us know what kind of teams we can expect for each week.

  • Week 1 — Duos
  • Week 2 — Solos
  • Week 3 — Duos
  • Week 4 — Squads
  • Week 5 — Solos
  • Week 6 — Twitchcon TBA
The first week will see a Duos match using Epic’s Hold the Throne game mode. The mode lasts six matches and awards points for placing in the top five: three points for a victory royale, two for second or third place, one for fourth or fifth. Teams will also earn points for four or more eliminations: three points for eight or more, two for six to seven and one point for four or five eliminations. In addition, the team with the most eliminations at the end of each round also earns two points.
All of the games from the first week of Fortnite’s Fall Skirmish can be seen on the FortniteTwitch channel and will kick off on Friday, Sept. 21.
The duo with the most point at the end of the day takes home $67,500, with the rest of the top 10 finishers dividing the rest of that week’s prize pool. The team with the most eliminations wins $50,000. And any duo placing in the top 10 earns a significant amount of Club Points.

[h=1]Fortnite season 6 begins next week, huge XP bonus begins now[/h]

[h=2]Time to level up your Battle Pass[/h]

So far, the lead-up to Fortnite’s sixth season feels a bit more sedate than the events that brought us season 5, but it’s also nice to have a big, bouncy lake in the game now. So maybe it all comes out even in the end? Either way, Epic Games has confirmed that season 6 will begin next Thursday, Sept. 27.
Players who are still trying to level up their Battle Pass to unlock this season’s items and skins before that happens will have some help: The game will give you 400 percent XP for playing from now until Sept. 24 at 8 a.m. EDT. That’s a nice incentive to play some matches over the weekend.
There haven’t been many clues about what we can expect from season 6, although following the giant purple cube as it rolled around the map was fun for a bit. The game’s lore seems like it has slowed down a bit this season, but new mysteries could pop up at any time between now and the launch of the new season. Players who are trying to take advantage of the XP bump will be keeping their eyes open over the weekend.

Season 6 is now dropping from the Battle Bus on September 27.

Celebrate its arrival and unlock those final Battle Pass rewards with an additional 400% Match XP all weekend, from now until September 24 at 8 AM ET (1200 GMT). Glide into the party!

[h=1]Fortnite Season 6’s final hint brings us a werewolf[/h]
[h=2]Fortnite’s sixth seasonal theme continues to be a bit of a mystery[/h]

Fortnite, season six launches in the early morning on Thursday, Sept. 27, and Epic Games has released the third and possibly final tease about what we can expect from the new Battle Pass and tone of the upcoming content. The theme that runs through all the images is ... weird stuff? Honestly, we have no clue.
You can check out the latest tweet below, complete with a look at what appears to be a werewolf skin:

Each character is shown on a different side of the big, purple cube that rolled over the mapbefore falling into Loot Lake, but there isn’t much else by way of an immediately recognizable theme. If one character is from the future and the other is from the past, as some people speculated, the werewolf is from ... another dimension?
What’s more likely is that Epic Games is just saying “to heck with it” and doing a sort of Halloween or costume-themed season so that every possible idea it may have for a skin can fit in without anyone complaining about the lore.
We’ll know much more tomorrow when the game’s sixth season officially launches, and I can’t be the only player hoping against hope for an extended Killer Instinct crossover based on today’s image.
