Despite the prolonged development time, the game is *still* going to be a multi-part release (which is fucking absurd .. who wants to wait 2, 3 years for the 2nd and 3rd episodes).
I mean, I'd rather play the Midgar chapter in this decade instead of waiting another decade to play the whole thing
In an ideal world, the game has been in proper development since 2015, likely had a period of pre-development as well. It should be coming out as a full package by now
A reddit leaker is throwing out leaks. The biggest take-away is that the game is now a 2 parter (instead of 3) and first part will release this year, release date at the SE conference at E3.

A 2019 release for the first chapter would be a pleasant surprise. Is Square Enix doing a conference this year?
Not a full-on conference, but a live broadcast and they're going to do it on the time-slot Sony would have used if they were still at E3.

But the article was incomplete and did not have a release date. There is a Square Enix concert tonight, the article says the release date was announced at the concert.

- Enemies have a focus gauge; if filled, you can stagger your attacks for bonus damage
- Filling ATB allows you to use Tactical Mode, game slows down and allows you to plan to use abilities
- Item usage is limited
- FFVII Remake will be split into 2 Blu-Ray discs worth of content with Part 1 consisting entirely of Midgar as the development team are planning on expanding the story of Midgar
- Stagger mechanic from Final Fantasy XIII is in

Crazy thing is, the only other 2 bluray disc game I can think of is RDR2. How much did they expand Midgar lol.
Probably has a lot of CGI cutscenes too.
Still not happy about paying $60 for part 1, but oh well.

This looks pretty darn amazing. I haven't truly played any FF game except Crisis Core: FFVII on PSP, which seems to be similar to FFVII of course but I don't know to what degree.
Pre-ordered 1st Class Edition from Squareenix.com today.
