Does someone know when FL will come to Islamabad? PTCL is going crap after 7pm these days.

@assasin42o technically i got 6 megabytes/second on steam last night while downloading an update..... 50mbps is like 6.25 megabytes/sec, so I'm pretty stoked! :dance:

The disconnects have been getting really bad as of late. There're a few hours everyday where I get DC-ed every 2-3 minutes for the whole hour. And often I have to restart the ONT device to get the internet back up.

Throughout this whole time, the link is actually up (green light). It gets fixed sooner or later.

Anyone else experiencing the same?

Salam. I just ordered 10mpbs FIBERLINK connection for my home. I have grown sick of this PTCL 8mb connection and its pings as I never got to enter multiplayer gaming lobbies on different games.

Please suggest a wifi router for FIBERLINK usage because I have to connect multiple devices at a time.

A laptop
Xbox one
2-3 iPhones

I have heard that wifi routers with 'ac' technology offer more bandwidth speeds as compared to A/B/G/N
Should I go for something like that with 'ac' technology. I have found a router TPLINK ARCHER C20 AC750 for 4500 rupees.

Any router with G or N would be more than enough. Most of the internet connections over here aren't fast enough to max out 802.11G let alone N. No need to spend extra on "AC" or any of the newer stuff.

I have ordered 20mbps as its hell cheap compared to PTCL 8mb. For only 2,280/- per month with unlimited downloads. I am specifically opting for Fiberlink for online gaming (fps and racing) and for blu ray torrent downloading from www.publichd.com

I don't know much about NAT ports. But I am hopeful that I'll not need to open them on Fiberlink for fps multiplayer gameplay.

Fiberlink provides a TP-Link 150Mbps WR740N router which is perfectly capable of handling 10-20+ devices at the same time. You won't really need AC unless you plan on transferring large files between computers (or if there's a lot of interference).

They don't allow access to the router so you can't forward ports. You might be able to get them to forward ports via Teamviewer though (haven't tried that)

I have a desi china wifi modem which keeps on DC-ing randomly. Last night it went down and I had to restart it late in the morning to get it back up.

Read the first post. I've attached screenshots of downtimes. When I got my connection installed (5-6 months ago), I had around 90% up time. Now I get around 98-99% up time. Also, pings were excruciatingly bad during the first few months. Now, they're much better. Pings used to go up by around 40-100ms at evenings and at night; now they're a lot more stable. Here are my ping times for the last 24 hours.:

As you can see, pings have been fairly constant at 155ms for a server in France. 3 months ago, I would've advised against Fiberlink, but not anymore.

The thing is, in Lahore, the only other option is StormFiber or PTCL. StormFiber relies on Transworld (like Fiberlink) so they're pretty much the same as far as pings are concerned. PTCL is the worst as that gives me ping times of 300ms+ to EU at peak load times.

It's not that Fiberlink is perfect (it still gives random disconnects of 1-2 minutes once or twice a day for everyone in Lahore), but that it's the best amongst every other option.

PS, [MENTION=124941]shak92[/MENTION] is from Garden Town iirc but it doesn't really matter as Fiberlink is same for everyone in Lahore. (Usually) when one connection goes down, all of Lahore is down as well.
