Rooney has done enough to merit captaincy as a deputy when the skipper is not playing. No matter how shit England are, he's still their best player.

Unless someone sprung up last night and achieved more than him in one night, which I doubt, he's the best player in that team. :v:

Oh that was coming from an ABU... understandable.

if i had to pick england's best player, or rather "least bad" player, i'd have to say gerrard/parker.... atleast based on the euros....

I'm sorry, what? Parker has clearly been the best and the only decent player in the whole International side. Rooney on other hand, lol. Joe Hart performs all right at the international level; other than that, the team is pretty inconsistent.

Rooney's awful ball control and first touch tops Parker and Hart (unbelievable shot-stopper) and given the armband. How blind one can be while yelling out loud he's the 'best'

Parker... Hard working? Yeah, A Leader? Hell yeah!, best player? No.

Joe Hart is a good player too. Plays great for his club. But pretty inconsistent at International level, exactly like Rooney. So if I had to choose one captain for tomorrow's game it would be Rooney, as a senior player in the squad. Plus Parker's injured anyway.

Joe Hart's in pretty abysmal form too.

It's not really Joe Hart's fault that the players playing in front of him (defenders/midfielders) in the International and domestic club setup are so shite! The way that he's been able to paper over the cracks is astonishing!

Well that's one way to put it. Same case can be made for the whole England team, they are shit anyway in the International side. So ...

The difference here is that over the last 12 months (if not more), I can recall several world class performances from Joe Hart for Club and Country that have been universally appreciated, whereas I cannot recall a single such performance by Messrs. Rooney.

he has had ONE major tournament for country, and in that one tournament (after all the hype about the penalty bullshit), he failed to save even one....

and he's been on the international scene for one year.... and we all know hodgson does NOT trust youngsters to even make it in the squad, let alone handing the armband

“I gave my shirt to one of their side and had to give my shorts away as well. That was a first. It was strange. I don’t know which player it was. But it is a great opportunity for them to play at Wembley in front of 90,000 fans, so I didn’t mind.” - Wayne Rooney

Pfffffttttt..............

Karachi.
Morgan almost always gets pwned by the hands of Ferdi and co. Even Owen pwned him a few months back lol...

Most of the tweets he makes are when United are losing. And when the comeback time comes (like RVP missing the penalty and then completing his hat-trick to win us the game) he usually loses it hahahaha.

LoL it's always great fun seeing the banter b/w the lads and Piers. You can't keep Piers quiet :p

BTW Jones, Smalling and Young are training again. Thank God.
