I have a friend who has both consoles and i had her try out the demo on both the machines , she says the Xbox version is a tad bit smoother (not much of a difference but yes its a bit smoother on gameplay). Having personally played the PS3 demo myself i can concur that its playable and very smooth...although at the same time not having played both the versions side by side...i cant confirm if the gameplay is identical on both...so i apologize for shooting my mouth. Having said that, i downloaded the DMC4 demo ,because i needed to get a feel of how DMC games used to play like...and boy does the old DMC4 blows this new piece of shit outta water in terms of performance only. Silk smooth 60 FPS against 27-30FPS...i can see why people are so skeptic about having the new DMC run at 30FPS...makes a hell lotta difference. Quiet honestly,...after playing just the demo of DMC4...i think that the new DmC is a step down from its predecessors...it also lacks innovation and that artistic touch that the old DMCs had... Who ever thought of attaching a motor cycle acceleration handle with fuel injection to the blade of his sword would be cool?!....FUCK YEAH it is!....I think id rather get DMC collection then this....i will definitely try DmC though, but probably get a rental then a purchase.
I have played all DMCs - seen the anime and read the manga as well - and I can tell you, this DmC is the most artistically superior game out of the lot from a few game play videos alone. The old DMCs BLOW this regard. They are just...horrible games, artistically. The enemy designs, the locations, everything. Where DMC really shone was the game play and that was pretty much a hit and miss - mostly a miss - with DMC2 and DMC 4's Dante section. It's Nero that was DMC4's highlight. Dante sucked through and through in the fourth installment.
The story was never DMCs' strong suit to begin with. The series hit its pinnacle with the third one that had a good story, but Vergil had as much of a personality as things under my finger nails, and Dante is not a Picasso's painting variant either. Both of them are Inuyasha rip offs and a bunch of retards at that. People need to SEE the manga or anime to know what the hell I'm even talking about. It's a literal copy paste on so many fronts.
This DmC is actually trying to give them individual personality and the art style is absolutely amazing. Since I have read demonic lore, I can tell you, this "Mirror World" is absolutely SPOT ON. The art style is breath taking as it's literally showing the 'inverted' aspect of the demon world. To praise the previous DMCs so much and to put this down on art style and characterization...I don't know what to say other than it must be an acquired taste.
