An angry four-year-old boy shot his father dead after he refused to buy him a PlayStation.

The Saudi Arabian youngster, from the southern Jizan area, grabbed his father's pistol and gunned him down. The child had reportedly asked his father to buy him a PlayStation and the shooting took place after the man returned home without the desired object. As he was undressing, the man put the weapon down, which the child then grabbed and fired at him from close range, the Asharq newspaper reported. The tragic incident will add fuel to the debate that playing violent video games makes youngsters aggressive and alters their perception of reality.
It also comes after a British teacher warned that children as young as four were hitting classmates as they re-enacted scenes from violent 18-rated games.Alison Sherratt, at Riddlesden St Mary’s Church of England Primary in Keighley, West Yorkshire, said pupils were increasingly 'hooked' on fantasy personas.
This, she told the Association of Teachers and Lecturers conference, meant they were leading 'solitary lives'.Pupils regularly discussed playing games such as the Call Of Duty series, set in various war zones, and Grand Theft Auto – where players carry out robberies, muggings, killings, drug deals and beat prostitutes with baseball bats, she said. And on one occasion she saw pupils throwing themselves from a play car in slow motion and pretending blood was spurting out of them.

While, in other countries young children are influenced by video games. Here, they are influenced by our 'free' and 'independent' media which shows programs which promote, propagate violence and show that killing any one for a simple thing is not a problem.

On topic, very sad. My cousin is a 4 year old boy but he is never that aggressive but loves his parents very much like an average child does. Don't know what was the problem with this asshole.

Don't blame this on video games. Blame it on the parents who let young children play 18+ games.

I remember, when I was 7, I used to play Vice City. My dad saw me playing one day and asked me to stop playing such games. It was only after I was 13 that I began playing 18+ games again. Although 13 was a young age too, but here we are already exposed to so much violence and bloodshed. My point is, parents should allow their children to play R rated games at an age where the child is sensible enough to understand the difference between right and wrong.

I have two brothers, and they're under 13. They play GTA, CoD, GoW, Red Dead Redemption etc. I can clearly see how games are affecting them. They sometimes exhibit violent behaviour and use vulgar language. =_= And they never listen when I ask them to stop playing such games. Mainly because they weren't asked to stop at a young age, so it is difficult to stop now.

I agree. I cannot even began to understand the fools who think that exposing kids to violence and hardcore pornography has no long term repercussions. They do. I have seen it happen. These things carry 18+ label for a reason.

There have always been violent video games. The only difference is that kids these days are bunch of fucking pansies.
This. Mummy daddy bachey, dunno the difference between games and reality. :S I played violent games since I was young, I didnt get violent in real life, quite the opposite.

@Syavash what's this? :|
this is a story about a 4 year old fragging his dad? xD

Though I have to say, if I was undressing, I wouldnt put a gun near a 4 year old or even show it to him, and if it was on a table, I bet I'd notice a child running up and picking the gun. His dad must be slow :|

And for those that think I am being cruel and heartles, shit happens, get over it. You'll always have idiots in the world.

Yeah fail thread, I call this joke more than "tragic" if anything poor parenting should be blamed and not video games. I have seen plenty of kids now a days and instead of placing the blame on themselves for spoiled kids they blame the very consoles / games they buy for their own kids without reading the damn rating -___-.

Parent's these days are oblivious and utter morons why don't you guys google Anders Breivik and see how he is riding the "VIOLENT GAMES MADE ME KILL ALL THOSE PEOPLE!" like a P**** even though he is a grown man, and he recently added WoW to his addiction which he claims caused him to do what he did.

imo the father deserves it for being irresponsible and ridiculous for LEAVING A LOADED WEAPON LYING AROUND LIKE ITS A FRACKING ADULT TOY -____-, if anything all these sites LOVE BLAMING video games because an article blaming video games for violence is a google search engine heaven and hence the site gets more hits and more ignorant parents are made.

Children of this age are at a learning stage. They learn whatever they see or hear. Of course this was bound to happen considering that the child was playing 18+ games.

Spoiler: show
When I was his age I used to play mickey mouse Abuses will lead to ban YEAAA:rock:

Why are we blaming video games?

The father was at fault, in my personal opinion.
At the age of four, you don't have the senses you and I do. Like, you have the senses, but not the sensibility to use them.

Are you seriously telling me that the kid knew how to operate and load a firearm at the measly age of 4? I am certain it was just a mishap with the kid picking it up, imitating perhaps his father, having seen him shoot or fire at some animal, or simply in air.

Why was the father at fault?
- He left a LOADED weapon. This is a crime in itself.
- He left the weapon with the KID, or beside him, unmonitored.

Why do you blame video games? You expect a 4 year old to know about pornography and violence, gore as such? Video games ARE NOT at fault!

That said, the media spices up the story but quite a margin.
