PC Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3 : Which one should I buy?

I'm aware of the differences between the two games. I'm not concerned with lack of innovation, poor graphics or arcade nature of MW3. What concerns me is problems with matchmaking and lag. Similarly, I know about all the good qualities of Battlefiled 3 multiplayer. My concern is problems with Origin (and any lag). I have read about many people having problems with origins but surprisingly nobody here seems to be having any issues with it.

Will Battlefield 3 still be enjoyable if I'm not part of any clan (or group of friends playing the game together) and want to play the game occasionally for short amount of time? This is the only thing that attracts me towards MW3.

I'm just trying to avoid getting both games :$

Get a cheaper key of MW3 and give Battlefield 3 a box edition treatment. COD will be obsolete in an year , BF3 is here to stay. And yes lag issues are quite hindering but MW3 is a tremendous game with loads of value.

Several people here have had issues with Origin downloading the game or updates. Displaying wrongful status of the download basically. I personally haven't. But when your game is up and running, Origin has nothing to do with your BF3 MP experience, except talking to people on your list during the game. Think of it as adding a pirated game to Steam as a non-Steam game

Like Blastwave said, you could always jump in a Team Death Match on smaller maps. Squad Rush and Squad Death Match are really fun too. But as far as variety in Game Modes is concerned, MW3 probably has the edge here.

I'm not recommending any game, because I haven't played Modern Warfare 3 yet. You can't go wrong with either. But since you have a capable rig, its hard to avoid BF3. The destruction alone puts it in another league. Its integral to the gameplay experience, not a visual gimmick.

EU key is available for Rs.2,800. I'm getting the physical boxed version for the same price.

I once managed to go a whole match without dying because i secured a tank very early on and a few squad mates decided to tag along.

You just described all the things wrong in my experience with BF3. Honestly if you're looking for something new, these two games should be the last place to look. What's so different about BF3 except for maybe the new tech. The gameplay is mostly the exact same. The maps are big but they were big in Bad Company 2 as well, in fact I preferred those maps to these new ones (and so does everyone else considering just about everyone is playing BTK these days, the irony). Don't get me wrong, it's a great game and I know you feel quite strongly about it (clearly) but don't make it out to be more than it is.

Ive played every single COD game online till COD: BLACK OPS.

Black OPS was so pathetic I finally gave up on COD series and went Battlefield.

After playing FOUR cod games online religiously I was shocked, surprised and eventually sad that I discovered and gave into Battlefield too late.

I have not bought CODMW3, nor will I.

I played Battlefield 2, then Battlefield Bad Company 2 now BATTLEFIELD 3.

Never going to back to COD. In fact Ive given out my original dvds.

Battlefield 3 is not your average shooter. It is NOT a competitor to COD.

It is a wonderful experience on its own with everything it has to offer.

Can't agree less.....

Experience in bf3 is original, intense and shitmypants type........there is no place to hide for long...........i totally disagree about conquest mode when you can't get vehicles.....there are plenty and they always respawn within a minute......moreover, even if you die, you can spawn with your squad that can be in a tank, chopper or on land.........however, make sure you have joined a squad if you want better experience.............

Maybe the multiplayer makes Battlefield 3 better ut otherwise both games are terrible and buying eiher tells the developer that you are completely fine with them pushing out the same junk year after year, CoD has now become a parody of its former self and Battlefield, in its single player, is just ripping off CoD and just throwing out the great and unique idea that they had in Bad Company 1. iamextreme server is not down it is empty all the time !! .. and i myself normally play on asia (singapore, hongkong and nearby) servers ..

MW3 for sure. Battlefield 3 is good but can never beat MW3 in gameplay and ofcourse the storyline. However the multiplayer version of BF3 is very very good. Especially the hornet flying is awesome. But MW3 is still MW3.

Battlefield will annoy the crap outta you trust me. It can be interesting at times I guess but man its plain annoying.
I didn't buy it because I gave Bad Company 2 a try (similar if not exactly the same as BF3)... Your run around and get gunned down by:

1- A sniper
2- An enemy camper medic
3- A sniper
4- A sniper

Forget one shot kills with sniper rifles even with those perk thingies. Its extremely rare.

MW on the other hand is... MW Get it, enjoy it.
