Any idea from where I can get one for a reasonable price?

The sports shop near my place has a heavy bag for 8,000 and a punching bag for 3,000.
Someone told me that I can get a heavy bag for around 2000-3000 from light house. Can anyone please confirm this?

P.S. I need something for practicing punches and kicks so would a punching bag do just fine or should I go for a heavy bag?

Wow Chhowni
Just buy a normal punching bag and fill it up with sand (and sawdust if you like). 3000Rs. is a lot for just a punching bag though :O

For both the kicks and punches you need a heavy bag. Fill it with saw dust or rags. Don't know about the price. If you are looking for a good quality heavy bag then it'll cost you a lot. Don't ever fill your bag with sand unless it's heavy duty.

I can get a punching bag similar to the one shown in link posted by eternalgreymon at a sports shop near my place.

Would it not be able to take kicks? I'm not exactly bruce lee so I think that it should be able to withstand my kicks without getting damaged.

What sports are you in? Heavy bag is good for practicing low kicks and sweeps and is more stable than a punching bag. Light House is the place to look for these bags if you are in Karachi. If you know somebody from Sialkot then you can get a better quality bag.

None. I just workout at a gym but that only develops muscles and strength. I want to develop some fighting skills hence getting a heavy/punching bag to practice some basic punches and kicks on it.

A friend of mine asked around in light house and the prices are about the same. 3,000 for a punching bag and 8,000 for a heavy bag (leather one).

IMO the prices are OK if the bags are of good quality. But as you said you aren't in sport and you just need one for getting more agile then I suggest you get a canvas punching bag and fill it with saw dust. Also punch and kick with the right technique because wrong techniques can give you injuries.
