usb windows installation

salam...guys i have p7h55m-lx board and i want to install windows via usb flash drive....i used a direct copy method, win2flash, microsoft usb windows download utility etc etc....but it sdoesnt boot...not even from my frndz p5kpl am...we did set removable drive as first boot...plz hel...we used different usbz aswell....no luck....but his netbook was booting fine from them

if itx win7 then follow dese stepx .. em sure these will help you out

1. first of all plug your Usb flash drive in
2. Start - on da search baar write 'RUN"
3. cmmand screen will appear - write on "Diskpart" .. it will open another black windows
4. type "list disk" .. it will let you see all available flash disk or hdd you had connected to your pc
5. select da disk number of your flash disk .. like "select disk 1"
6. now type "clean"
7. write "create partition primary"
8. "select partition 1"
9. "active"
10. "format fs=fat32"
11. after a complete and clean format type "Assign" and then "exit"
12. manualy copy all windows installation files to your flash disk !
your Done

P.s: All these sign "" are not included .. they are just fo da user to easly pick da cmmand

If I remember correctly PowerISO software have an option to make flash drive bootable. I did it once and burned the windows 7 on mine 4GB flash drive and installed windows many times never got a single problem. Try PowerISO.

All these commands just are to format the drive....

You can do so from Windows as well...

But you need Command Prompt to make the drive bootable....that's what you need...

Do this....

Mount your Win 7 Image onto a Virtual Drive, or extract the image. (whichever option you prefer)

After you have formatted your USB (NTFS preferred, but FAT32 works as well)...open command prompt with admin priviliges (Run as administrator)

Then use the command prompt to go to the location where you boot folder rests in Virtual DVD drive or the folder where u extracted the file...
something like this (assuming letter D is assigned to DVD drive/extracted folder and H to USB drive)

d:
cd d:\boot

Then write this commad:

bootsect /nt60 H:

The H above represents the USB drive letter.

once you get a message like Bootcode succesful on all volumes.....Exit command prompt and you have urself a Bootable USB drive....

Now you can normally copy paste the files in the Windows Image / Extracted folder to your drive....and you have a WIN 7 Bootable USB Drive......

Note, the above will only work for x86 version of Windows 7.....if u need to create a bootable x64 version, commands differ, as the boot files also differ....

keep the usb pluged in, restart and check the boot settings, If it shows you the "removable devic"e or specifically "USB" option.

Check the harddrive priority tab as well, but usb shoulb be pluged before restartting and entring bios.

ok...al the methods r ok...the prob was in the bios...i had to select the usb as primary in hard drive config....but still it confused me...in the netbook u could directly select usb as primary boot device....
