Untrue: SNK Playmore shutting down games division.

Our friends over at DreamCancel are reporting some grim news about the King of Fighters series. Apparently, the producer of King of Fighters XII and XIII left SNK Playmore back in November. To make matters worse, the new company president "wants to shut down the video game division and focus on licensing instead, such as porting old titles and creating pachinko games and figures". Will we ever see a console port of King of Fighters XIII? The future seems uncertain. Check out the thread here on SRK to talk about it.

For those few who don't know, SNK is the company behind Garou (Fatal Fury), King of Fighters, Metal Slug, and Samurai Showdown franchises. KoF XIII has been well-received in arcades but its console future is uncertain.

Just thought I'd post this here because I think people here care about KoF. I loved SNK characters like Terry Bogard and Yamazaki way more than any SF character, and I loved CvS which wouldn't have been possible without SNK. This is very, very sad news for fighting game fans if true. I hope Capcom buys them or the KoF IP. If not, they should atleast try for a new CvS game to pump some money into SNK.

Shit thats sad i and i do agree KOF was and still is a batter game then SF..i was even thinking they would make an HD remix of samurai showdown that game was too good for its time.

A wise decision KOF was losing its charm........its better to bury respectfully before u throw it out!

The best parts i played were 97,98,2000/1,2002 and except for them all others were crap.

I played latest KOF on 360 and played it for once..........after that i never had gutz to touch the disc cover again!

Thats sad news indeed. They had some great IPs and memorable characters....i hope they sell the IPs to capcom.. only capcom can revive those Ips like never before. Specially the Fatal fury , AOF franchise
