Hmm, it works quite well. Toothpaste also works as a temporary solution.

But I think Mayonnaise won't live for more than 2 days as thermal paste.

Toothpaste can live for a few days.

Best thing to do is to indeed get a cheap thermal paste and compromise 3 or 4 degrees for not opening the heatsink again and again each day

i have tried tooth paste on my Pentium D rig long time ago and it help me a lot in bringing down the temp + noise level of CPU. but coudn't knew about mayonnaise at that time would have tried that too.

mixing toothpaste with cold cream will give you better result and will last longer.

Been using mayo for about 4 days now. Don't know if the improvement in the temperatures—which were like 77 - 78—came from using mayo or the clean Heat sink.
Will post more after some more days.
