Games that ship able to take advantage of the new PlayStation 4 Pro's capabilities will carry a special logo on their game case, and it'll show up on them in the PlayStation Store, too.
This is what it looks like (above). It's reminiscent of the "Better With Kinect" or "Only On PlayStation" riders that framed the box art of the past console generation.


"Look for the 'PS4[SUP]TM[/SUP] Pro Enhanced' icon on software packaging. 'PS4[SUP]TM[/SUP] Pro Enhanced' features vary by game. Select titles may have enhanced visuals, frame rate, HDR 10 support, or increases in resolution."says Sony.
PlayStation 4 Pro support isn't exclusive to that version of the console. A game built to support the new configuration still will work on a standard PlayStation 4. The label just means it's a game that draws on the enhanced power of the new console for graphical fidelity and stable frame rate, among other qualities.
Some games will require patches to make them PS4 Pro-enhanced. A developer on Friday clarified that these patches must be distributed free and cannot come with any charge to consumers who already bought the game for standard PS4.

Sony is launching two pieces of cutting-edge technology this fall: the PlayStation VR headset in 10 days, and the 4K-compatible PlayStation 4 Pro about a month afterward. PSVR games will run better on the Pro’s more powerful hardware, but people who buy a Pro for high dynamic range (HDR) color — arguably the most highly touted feature of the console — will hit a snag if they have a PSVR headset hooked up to their television.
The PSVR headset connects to a PS4 through an external box known as the Processor Unit. The device doesn’t provide any extra graphical power; instead, it acts as an HDMI splitter, allowing the PS4 to output images to a second screen such as a television, and also handles audio processing for 3D sound.
Here’s how the connections work: The headset hooks up to the PS4 via USB, and connects to the Processor Unit with a hybrid HDMI and auxiliary cable; the box connects to the PS4 and TV with separate HDMI cables.
In a lengthy FAQ for PSVR, Sony said today that the Processor Unit supports pass-through for non-VR content. That means that even if you’ve got a PSVR headset hooked up to your TV via the Processor Unit, you’ll be able to use your PS4 as usual — as long as the box is plugged in and the headset is off. That also applies for the PS4 Pro and 4K content, since the pass-through feature can handle 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) at up to 60 frames per second.


However, Sony noted that the Processor Unit’s pass-through functionality does not support HDR at any resolution. (Neither does PSVR itself.) So if you want to play HDR content from a PS4 or PS4 Pro, you’ll have to connect the console directly to your HDR-capable TV — without the PSVR Processor Unit as a middleman. That means unplugging the PS4’s HDMI cable from the unit and connecting it straight to your TV.

The PlayStation 4 Pro lands in just a week, bringing with it boosted CPU and GPU, 4K resolution and that sweet, sweet HDR tech.


But what games will actually let you make use of all of those lovely resolutions and whatnots? This morning, the European PlayStation Blog dropped a list of the 44 titles that will be optimized for the new console on launch day. The blog post promises that more than 45 will be optimized for the console by the end of the year including Watch Dogs 2, The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy 15.


That optimization work will of course continue into next year, with the blog post confirming that Nioh, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and For Honor are all getting the treatment in early 2017.

But wait, what about not early 2017? Like mid-2017 or simply 2017?


According to the blog post all first-party games moving forward will be optimized. Titles on that list include: Gravity Rush 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and Gran Turismo Sport.

Among the standouts for launch day optimization are Battlefield 1, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, RIGS Mechanized Combat League and The Last of Us Remastered. Does that make the last one The Last of Us Remastereded?

wish PS4 Pro had not missed 4k HDR Bluray drive like the one on XB1S ... such a bummer

if ur 4k TV is not HDR then u wont be able to experience true HDR experience ... every tv manufacturer has its own branding like Samsung has two classes of HDR ... but since xbox one s n ps4 pro r HDR10 so one will have to look for a TV which is HDR10 compliant ...

For newcomers, I think PS4 Pro is a great deal. First party titles are the only reason I want a PS4, and they all will be getting some optimization for it on PS4 Pro.
I'll be buying it directly, whenever that time comes.
