^Agreed here, but I am being optimistic as the devs have yet to disappoint me. You gotta keep faith in things, thats how the world rolls :p

I don't want this game to fail, the industrial-era, the glorious mustaches and badass beards. From the looks of it they are keeping the direction similar to a GOW game, hope I am wrong and this game ends up with vast areas to explore and different enemies to sweep out!

It's gonna look good, and it might play decent too but I still don't see this game making a huge impact. They'll be lucky if it goes into the 80s on meta (which I really doubt).

As far as gameplay is concerned & from what I have seen so far, RAD is 2-3 years in the past. No one likes them QTEs & lotsa cutscenes anymore. Even MGS has gone open-world. :p

Well, just a slight bit of interesting element from the game:

An interesting central mechanic, at least in this portion of the game, is how I would go about attacking enemies. While movement and cover handle like many other shooters, my default weapons, mapped to both the R1 and R2 buttons on the DualShock 4, are meant to be used in tandem instead of only relying on one. Tapping one trigger will cause Galahad to shoot a wide, imprecise cloud of grit. When I asked the member of Ready at Dawn standing nearby who was helping players with the demo about the grit’s effectiveness, he pointed out that it won’t do immense damage on its own. What you’re meant to do after firing that is tap the other R button to shoot a flare into the same spot. Aim well enough, and the spread grit will ignite into flames, wreaking havoc on any enemies unfortunate enough to be in its path.

If there's gun combo and ammo mixing, then stuff can get a but interesting. Otherwise it's a pretty looking generic shooter.

^We already knew about it from the reveal back in May. Weapons are not your standard weapons, each will have its own unique secondary fire. The thermite rifle was shown in the video, there are potentially more weapons like these.

They are speaking about that badass rifle thats more like the ancient version of modern flame-throwers.

That rifle & all the weapons featured in this game are from that era only. They are pushing for authenticity or something.

Saw the footage, I was extremely impressed with the way the game shifts from cutscenes to gameplay so seamlessly, the moment when the reticule and HUD showed up all of a sudden for the first time was a bit of a "Wow" moment for me. However, I can see it becoming quite a jarring experience if they do this kinda stuff too frequently during the game, The demo was just taking control away from the player after ever 15 seconds of gameplay which is a big no no.

Other than the visual stuff, the game didn't really do much for me. Look like another generic shooter. The setting seems to have some potential though.

More hands-on previews

First thing’s first: the game is absolutely beautiful. The gritty world of The Order‘s alternate timeline London is good-looking on its own, but the way The Order pays special attention to the tiniest details brought the experience all together. Seeing a glassy reflection in a bottle or watching wood splinter into the air after a bullet missed its target and instead hit a wall just adds a level of atmosphere that contributes to the overall beauty of the game.

Often times, a cutscene would transition right into the action of gameplay, without so much as a graphical hiccup. Coming out of a cutscene, I’d often linger a moment because I hadn’t realized I was out of a CGI sequence yet.

The Order: 1886‘s combat features: Blackwater mode. Named for the liquid that gives The Order members their superhuman health and abilities, Blackwater mode is a bullet time mode at best. Once the Blackwater meter fills, players can initiate the mode. At that point, time is slow and your aim is snapped to an enemy.

[he Order’s focus on providing a cinematic look is evident from nearly every corner of the game: graphically the game looks stunning and shows off the potential of the PS4 in amazing fashion. Blasts from the thermite rifle explode with fiery detail, and depth of field and focus effects from transitioning to idle and shooting stances looks incredible, even from just such a minor effect in the game.

In blending a cover shooter with the quality of a moody, atmospheric film, The Order is set to benefit with a fantastic presentation, as in the demo alone I had a difficult time discerning what was in-game versus what was a “cut-scene.” In one scene with Galahad and another knight dragging one of their injured party members from the streets to avoid danger, the game seamlessly flew between elaborate cutscenes into the in-game action of Galahad drawing his pistol to eliminate enemy forces.

[h=2]Don't call The Order: 1886 a 'werewolf game'[/h]

The Order: 1886 isn't what you'd call a game about fighting werewolves — so don't go writing off the story just yet.

In the game — set to launch on Feb. 20, 2014 exclusively for PlayStation 4 — players take the side of four members of an order of Knights dedicated to combatting the Lycans, a human-wolf half-breed race that can shapeshift between its two forms at will. These creatures, unveiled during E3 earlier this year, are nasty and brutal, quick to move and quicker to kill. Taking them down is a full time job for the Knights, who drink a liquid called Black Water to quickly heal and extend their lifespans.

"When you say 'werewolves' people think they're generally just, you know, dog-like creatures that don't have any intelligence," J Goldberg, community manager at Ready at Dawn told Polygon. "But since they're half-breed, they're half-man and half-wolf, they still have intelligence. That allows them to think and talk. There will be lots of interactions with them."

The science fiction and fantasy market has been flooded with werewolf material following the seeming winding-down of its vampire craze (at least, now that the Twilight films have all been released). There's Bitten and Teen Wolf, for example, and young adult fantasy-romance books are quick on the uptake to include hunky, angsty werewolves in their pages. But The Order: 1886 isn't contributing to this genre — more like, it's trying to spin how the audience looks at it. The Lycans are no heartthrobs, that's for sure.

"This game has been in development for quite some time, the first creative draft was written before the PlayStation 4 was even announced; [the developers] have had this creative idea for a while, and there have been many different attempts at who the enemies should be in the game," Goldberg explained. "We've always had them in there, we've never been like, 'Oh look, they're doing werewolves, and they're doing werewolves, so let's do our own werewolves.' It's more like it just happened this way [with the Lycans].

"It's kind of awesome that it fell out that way because now everyone understands and is into the [werewolf] culture, but on the same point we're trying to separate ourselves from it by calling them Lycans, not full-on werewolves," he added. "These guys have intelligence."

The game's London setting is also less of a romantic choice and most of decision backed by a fascination with history.

"There were some really incredible events that happened in London in the 1880s," Goldberg noted. The poor and unemployed began rioting against the upper class, the British government began taking steps towards curating Ireland's rule of itself, and a general feeling of unrest settled in the area. It was the perfect place for Ready at Dawn to set up its fantasy war between humans and half-humans, an environment in which so much was going on at once that the Lycans could creep through undetected .... just not by the people hunting them.

During my hands-on time with game, among the game's four main protagonists, lady Isabeau D'Argyll stood out to me. Not because she was a woman, but because she wasn't exactly pushed in my face. Watching her interactions with her three male compatriots felt natural, fluid. Isabeau feels like, for lack of a better way to describe it, "one of the guys," and with no highlight screaming "hey look, there's a girl in our game!" I had to ask about her origins.

Goldberg explained that Isabeau's place in the Knights is based on Igraine, the mother of the legendary King Arthur. Female knights and warriors have always existed throughout history — granted they may not have been as widely known in their times, but they're presence is not an anomaly. Isabeau isn't a woman because Ready at Dawn felt they needed to fill a quota, she's a symbol all on her own.

Wow Chhowni
This was a gameplay reveal done right. I loved the variety of scenarios shown and the background narration. Order 1886 is a looker alright. And it'll be interesting to see how they freshen up the other aspects.

Gota say, was not impressed with the E3 trailer. This one was much better. Hope they live up to the hype, unlike many others.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.
