No idea, maybe not soon, because Azizabad exchange is not even fully upgraded yet,
So pehlay tou exchange upgrade hojaye puri then GPON ka socha jasakta hai.
And GPON in Karachi is limited to very few exchanges only, and even not whole exchanges, just a few areas of exchange having GPON.
I’ve also seen some digging in Block 14, but not sure yet.

PTCL is installing new cabinets in FB Area. You can see them working on these cabinets in various blocks. As far as their digging goes, they are digging in some areas but their digging is focused on connecting these new cabinets to Azizabad exchange. This digging is not going to corner of each street which is required for GPON.

However there is some rather extensive digging going on in some blocks of FB Area by Stormfiber, where they are putting underground fiber optic cable junction box at corner of each street. But to my knowledge they are initially focusing on Block 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12 and 13 where big bungalows are located. Hopes this helps.

You sure it's stormfiber? Because to my knowledge they haven't got the NOC from DMC central.

I asked on their facebook page about block 6 last month and they said it is in development whereas in summer they were saying it was in planning. I asked three different guys doing the digging at different days and different places and they told me it is cybernet fiber cable. They are working very diligently as they are digging, laying cable and then covering their digging and putting fiber junction box with lid on top in 1-2 days span. They are even putting yellow banners at junction box sites stating "caution fragile fiber optic cable" written in English and Urdu. I do not think you can expect PTCL to work so quickly and in so professional way. If it is not stormfiber then who else it could be. Stormfiber has already covered almost all blocks of North Nazimabad, which come under district central and Federal B Area is situated next to it so logically they will move their manpower to this area.

Did anyone get the 15mbps offer?

I was sent a text today telling me that I can upgrade for free to 15mbps, and that my 10mbps charges will be revised to 2650/month.

UPDATE: 1218 says the upgrade will be automatic (I kinda don't believe them). It will happen automatically on the 1st of January.

usmanghazanfar, can you please tell the network engineers to fix the routing to Fastly's CDNs? I'm getting this on my fiber connection:

Tracing route to turner-tls.map.fastly.net [151.101.1.67]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

Could you have the teams investigate this? I know I said this was a Cloudfare issue last time, but it appears to be a Fastly CDN issue, and specifically for IPs hosted specifically within the UAE.

Otherwise, it seems almost every other IP has decent pings (except Wikipedia which seems to go to Europe rather than Singapore and hence, ~100ms difference).

Thanks in advance.
Websites like Wikipedia have 0 percent effect with the ping u shared. Don't see any issue. I'm myself on fine and don't see any issue on sites and web content hosting, ping isn't an issue using such

My suggestion wasn't from the perspective of gaming or VOIP (since Wikipedia is plain HTTP traffic). It's just a suggestion to help improve the routing if there's room available for improvement.

But there are issues with the Fastly CDNs in UAE - or rather, with the UAE Internet Exchange.

Received the same message. However, I don't think I will be upgrading my connection to 25 MB though. 20 MB is more than enough for me. And they mess up a lot when they change ports. I am more than happy for SF reaching my area digging and deploying fiber, will be getting it as soon as they launch. Also PTCL will throttle like hell if they are increasing the packages, I wonder if they can cope up with the structure they have with the new packages. Pretty much speaks how they are scared of new fiber running ISP's.
