Haan kaam kafi tez chal raha hai kyun kay they have to complete it as early as possible due to cantt area na kiya tou phr app ko pata hei hai lol.

waisay ptcl exchange(basti) ko call ki kay fiber per convert karne kay liye he said come to exchange and book ASAP kafi rush hai so guys go to ur local exchange and book now pay 3k for existing and for new 12k.
Oh hell naw. I can't be convincing my parents to pay for something that isn't here .-.
I'll wait. Also, Did they give you any timeframe for the installation? I hope it's at max 2 weeks to get the first connection up and running (ofc it'll take time to install everybody's connections afterward)

They will offer to convert themselves after its installed. I don't think we would have to go to exchange for this.

Well, I'll see if I can swing by and book. I'm kinda excited for Fiber but in all honesty... Knowing it's nearly 2 months away turns me down.
Since I haven't heard anyone talking about VDSL since this all started I'll take it that VDSL isn't gonna happen.

3Krs for converting is very reasonable considering I would've had to get a new VDSL modem for 2.5K rs anyways.
But, 12Krs for new connections. I can see why pretty much anyone going for a new connection won't vouch for that. (Apart from the people that'll want 10+mb speeds ofc)

EDIT: Do you know of any place in wah or anyone in wah who has gotten PTCL fiber up and running?

btw ptcl ka banda bata rha hai kay jab full fiber deploy hogi tou zaroori nahin hai app fiber per convert karwein kyun kay backend say full fiber hai tou normal dsl will also work well upto 20mb dsl agr app ko iss say upper ka package chaiye tou then convert it to fiber.

So that means that potential VDSL as well? Since for 20mbit to be viable here on ADSL they would need to install Fiber MSAG which I don't see any signs of yet. A Fiber MSAG could also mean the availability of VDSL as well, but, since they've FTTH now I think they'll just outright skip VDSL as there is no point really other than convenience for some users who don't want more digging to happen into their houses.

A noob question, what is the difference between FTTH with VDSL and FTTH without VDSL?

A noob question, what is the difference between FTTH with VDSL and FTTH without VDSL?

Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
The difference is really b/w the technologies really.

VDSL is still a form of DSL Internet. It's an improvement from ADSL2+ and provides 55mbit/3mbit (This is VDSL1).
When we use the term VDSL we typically refer to VDSL2 when talking about PTCL, which supports speeds of up to 200mbit/100mbit.

FTTH Refers to Fiber internet up until the home. PTCL uses PON Technology to provide Its users with Fiber, more specifically, GPON which stands for Gigabit-Capable Passive Optical Network.

The difference b/w the two is really the hassle of getting each one installed. VDSL still works on copper lines so typically PTCL would get FTTC (Fiber to the Cabinet) and then for the final stretch use VDSL to provide High-Speed Internet.
FTTH required for them to typically dig up until each person house a Fiber cable. Which you may imagine can get quite a hassle when everyone in a single street (let alone an entire city) want to switch to fiber.
They'll have fiber until some point already installed (Be it right out your street or house) and when you place your order they only really have to just install the "Drop Cable".

As you may imagine, In most cases VDSL is an all-around good solution to getting High-Speed Internet to users (Since PTCL won't do Cable Internet). But, In this case, PTCL seems to have jumped straight to FTTH.
For us current users, Paying 3Krs for conversion is just a no-brainer over a VDSL connection (Even if we had the choice) since they charge like 2.5Krs for a new VDSL router (If yours is old and isn't VDSL compatible).
But, For new users that would have to pay 12Krs for FTTH just for 6-10mb internet. It would seem more worth it to pay the normal installation charges of 3-4Krs and getting VDSL.

All of the above is probably irrelevant since we're going straight to FTTH and most current users looking to switch over shouldn't bother. But, I'm constantly asking about this because they were supplying VDSL modems at the exchange 3-4months ago and on inquiring of VDSL they went "Yeah it'll be available soon, get these now before we run out". Basically, they sold people new routers for 2.5Krs (Which they charge even after taking back the old modem) and now those people will sadly find out that they'll yet again have to pay 3Krs again to get Fiber. Basically 2.5Krs in the shitter. There were like 20 something modems when I saw the place. While I stuck to my old ass 2011 AN1020-25 modem. My friend, however... did not.

I understand, but there are things unclear as of now, whether the port is not configured or the modem itself isn’t configured. Will have to sort them.
Khair I’ve my PPP Username and Password, and you can guide me so i’ll once again to see whether it works or not. The only thing missing from my end is VLAN ID.
User, pass hai meray paas par VLAN ID nahi hai, kiya karun unko call karkay VLAN ID maloom karun phir ?
And for Upload Speed, yes i’ll contact them for that as soon as VDSL starts working.

Any idea if they are launching GPON in azizabad exchange anytime soon? Because I'm seeing some digging in block 10, but not sure if it's for fiber or anything else.

usmanghazanfar, can you please tell the network engineers to fix the routing to Fastly's CDNs? I'm getting this on my fiber connection:

Could you have the teams investigate this? I know I said this was a Cloudfare issue last time, but it appears to be a Fastly CDN issue, and specifically for IPs hosted specifically within the UAE.

Otherwise, it seems almost every other IP has decent pings (except Wikipedia which seems to go to Europe rather than Singapore and hence, ~100ms difference).

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes my router's settings page becomes inaccessible. Whenever this happens, internet stops working too even though the lights are stable.

Any way to solve this issue? Anyone else facing it? I'm using one of those VDSL routers with the dual antennae.

There is. It's slow, but it's happening, in some sectors.

I-8 recently got either VDSL or GPON, I was there today and saw a brand new PTCL FDH cabinet.

No idea, maybe not soon, because Azizabad exchange is not even fully upgraded yet,
So pehlay tou exchange upgrade hojaye puri then GPON ka socha jasakta hai.
And GPON in Karachi is limited to very few exchanges only, and even not whole exchanges, just a few areas of exchange having GPON.
I’ve also seen some digging in Block 14, but not sure yet.
