Pings to Europe seem to be back for a while. Don't know how much longer they are going to last.

On Sunday, our phone line and internet got dead and on Monday, phone line came back but internet didn't so i registered a complaint on Twitter. They forwarded to exchange and the guy told me to do different router settings which i did but in vain. Then after one day, the guy from an exchange came to house to do the router settings again but again the internet didn't work. They said that your number has been changed to fibre and that's why the settings from the backend are needed to be changed. It took another day so inquired again and after one day the guy from exchange again came but this time with a new device FiberHome an1020-25 he reset the device and put in the new settings for fibre connection and then internet came back online again. In these days, they didn't know it was the device itself which wasn't supporting the optical fibre.

Now as i have got the Fibre Line for the first time, i have few questions and i am sharing my stats below too. Please let me know if they're good:

Line Parameters:

Line Parameters — imgbb.com

Here are the things i want to know:

1) Should i go for their PTCL Smart TV or Local Cable TV is better? Considering it that this is PTCL we are talking about here. :laugh1:
2) Is there any advantage of Fibre link i can get in terms of packages?
3) The house internal wiring is copper based, does it affect the fibre connection? I mean should i change the internal wiring too or is it okay this way too?
4) Can i get Nayatel via this same fibre or Nayatel has their own fibre infrastructure?

Those line stats are good. Though you'll still be limited to a max possible speed of 24mbit down / 1mbit up because how ADSL works. You should switch to VDSL if you intend to go any higher then 4mbit because with 8mbit you can get 2mbit upload if you have VDSL/Pure Fibre. What you have there is FTTC it seems where fiber cable is up until the nearby cabinet and after that, it's still copper. Overall it still is better then just full on copper to the exchange (If your exchange is not that close which would be the usual case for most people).

Now to answer your questions.

1) As far as smart TV is concerned your line won't have an issue but as far as how the experience is I can't really comment on that I'll let someone else fill you in on this.
2) The only advantage is improved stats for your line really so you'll have a more stable connection if you opt for higher packages. though if you decide to get 8mbit or above packages I'd suggest getting VDSL as well for more upload speed if you need it.
3) It won't matter much really unless you want to go above 16mbit or if you want higher upload then 1mbit then you should get it changed to VDSL or if you want or rather can get full fiber to the home.
4) No Naytel has their own Fibre infrastructure they won't install their connection through this current line provided by ptcl.

The weird thing happened. After they changed my line to optical fibre they also changed my speed to 8Mbps i guess because i just noticed that i was getting 700KB/s on torrents so i checked the speed on router page and in fact the line rate is 7165 Kbps which i never asked for.

Are they upgrading 4Mbps to 8Mbps after fibre optics or it's by mistake because i don't want extra charges in my bill due to this as i am okay with 4Mbps.

They have upgraded your package. And you would be charged of 8 Mbps. Call 1236 and inquire about your current package and bill. There might be a promotion offer of 8 Mbps speed in the price of 4 Mbps for some months. In this case you can enjoy 8 Mbps untill promotion lasts and than you can downgrade your package to 4 Mbps again. On other case ask them to downgrade your package to 4 Mbps.

Yes, I have already sent the message to PTCL Cares Twitter because i have been in contact with them when i was having a internet problem.

Most probably, this is due to promotional period. I reckon that we have got real Optical Fiber because their staff dug up the street and pulled the cables to the nearest pole which is just front of our house.

It's Fiber to the pole, Fiber to the home would require them digging the line up till your house. You will still be limited by ADSL speeds because of that copper cable from the pole till your house. As for 8mbit i believe it should have sync rates of 9215kbps and not 7165kbps. They probably haven't set up your DSLAM profile correctly... OR If you asked to get Ptcl smart tv installed then it would explain the higher sync rate as it would be 4mb + 2mb (for the smart tv). they might have just set up the right sync rates from the exchange before sending a guy to install the smart tv box

Just changed the VCI to 8 and VPI to 81 in router settings.

As far the speed is concerned i called them he said you are already on 4Mbps. Now i am getting 3.9Mbps on Speeedtest and downloading speed of torrents are also downgraded to 4Mbps speeds. Before that, i messaged their PTCL Cares Twitter, i guess he downgraded to 4Mbps. But in the router settings i still see Line Rates as 7165 Kbps as Downstream and 1054Kbps as Upstream.

Interesting. Bro what are VDSL package prices and what download/upload speed it offers?

I haven't heard about mbits before, but definitely interested to know more.
Can you please explain difference between MB & mbits?

Many Thanks.

No, there is no 4MB to 8MB offer.
The only offer in place is, "UNLIMITED DEAD SLOW" internet, so let all PTCL users enjoy that lol :laugh1:

Salam Alikum guys,

Please give your feedback on my line stats.
I've been having really bad upload speed. Its a 4MB connection. PTCL phone & Facebook customer service has been shameless.
Should I contact PTCL Twitter customer support?

(ALSO SEE MORE QUESTIONS BELOW THIS IMAGE)

I've some more questions, If I upgrade this package to 8MB;
1: Do PTCL offers any better customer service for 8mb hi-speed internet users?
2: Will they install fiber optic cable to my home to the modem?
3: Will they provide a different modem for 8MB connection?

Many thanks.

Your Line Stats are way too low. It's bare minimum for 4Mbps. You can't upgrade to higher than this

1. No, even for Hi-Speed package Users their customer service is shitty.

2. Never, if your line supports 8Mbps they will give you on copper or partial fiber to copper (FTTC)

3. Any ADSL2 Router/Modem will work. Even your current ptcl one

OK thanks bro. I will not think about getting the 8mb package for sure.

What will be the ideal line stats for 4MB package?
