getting 1 mb down on a 12mb connection tonight. Something is going on with PTCL

I have been having the same problem and it's been a week...utterly sick of it and thinking of shifting to Nayatel. Nayatel wouldn't be affected by that cable cut too, right?

yeh but my inquiry is , is their existing line supporting speeds upwards 4mb ? like the 8 , 12 and 16 mb one , or is it just failing to cope with the load . some one with exp on this maybe ?

if your line quality is good u can go upto 16 easily i.e no iptv then or go for vdsl if available in area.

Ok so i need a few inquiries , i called the ptcl help line , they said my area has ADSL not VDSL , the fiber optic is not available here , so i inquired about the new high speed internet , i am eyeing for 12mb which will be a huge upgrade from my good ol 4mb connect communications package , the tech said it will be supported and i will get full speed , my concern is will the copper wires give me the Advertised speed ? Tech ki to adat hai chewtiya bananay ki [emoji14] so i turned to pakgamers for advice

My recommendation, don't do for 4Mbps above on Copper Line, after some time you'll get low SNR problems for sure.

Someone told me that Smart tv allows you to get an extra 1mb or 2mb bandwith , Is it true? If yes , then does someone know how to do it (I am a subscriber of smart tv)

You're eligible for 2Mbps+ but if your area has no upper connection support, it won't be possible just like mine, the internet guy just told me he just can't make my connection to 10Mbps, that will just destroy the ratio since there's not even a single person with 8Mbps in my area lol.

Why would you even use PTCL Router as a modem? Just get a freaking WiFi router with USB support like TP-Link, D-Link, Tenda or whatever, they're pretty cheap.

Guys i read the first post, it helped me a lot thanks. But i have few questions.

Question #1

I Have 1 Mbps connection and my ping goes up and down frequently. I don't have problem when i watch videos or while browsing but when i play Online games i lagg too much because of this. My SNR and Kbps Rate are fine according to my speed (first post). In Command prompt when i ping Google the minimum ping i get is 170 ms and maximum is above 3000 ms. Here is an example below,

time = 170 ms
time = 451 ms
time = 181 ms
time = 505 ms
time = 205 ms
time = 1001 ms
time = 2063 ms
time = 404 ms
time = 2456 ms

Question 2

Can i upgrade my speed to 4 Mbps,i mean will my SNR decrease if i upgrade my speed or it will remain the same like the current one? For my current speed these numbers are fine (1 Mbps)

Might b....thr r two apps...one work on dsl if u hav smart tv enabled on ir line....other is 100 rupee per monthbthat can work on me net service
