It seems like PTCL have improved their ping .I'm getting 147 ping on TWAlmost same here. But on WIFI.
Got a call today from the exchange asking for some serial numbers and stuff. They said configuration guys will come in 2-3 days and that will be it.
*gasps* FINALLY! But, why would the configuration guys come? Does that mean that they won't be able to upload the configs to the router remotely? This could potentially be a hassle as they would have to configure each and everyone's ONT.
P.S is the Link light on?
Serial numbers are required so they can tag each persons ONT to the new (or old) landline number assigned to their connection.
Strange that they'd ask you guys though, the installation team was supposed to write them down and forward to backend team for config.
Oh well, maybe the Alcatel garbage requires manual config.
They called me again and asked for the MAC ID this time.
What if I got it wrong? I confirmed it twice but still.. What would happen in case one of the IDs is wrong?
No internet connection / authentication with OLT. In which case, LINK light will probably turn on, and AUTH light won't.
However, it shouldn't be an issue, they'll probably notice in case you got it wrong. If not, it's an easy-ish fix, you'll just have to tell the config guys when they come over.
Basically whenever a bunch of new untagged ONTs are added to a network, they all show up under Alcatel's management software as 'New ONT', so they'll notice the S/N and MAC address of your device and then tag it with the new landline number assigned to you and set up QoS for whatever package you selected.
How long do you reckon will they take to start the service now?
Also, how do I know the fiber is 'on'? That think yellow cable that goes into the ONT.. Will it do something? Like light up :tv:
Can't say since your area must have a lot of GPON conversions so it depends what area / street they're starting first, till they eventually get to your house.
Unless you know someone who can expedite it, or do your house first and then the others, I don't see it happening that soon.
Considering they've asked for your S/N and MAC now, they could maybe get it active some time next week. BUT, let us not forget what month it is. Knowing them, they'll use that as an excuse for every delay that comes up.
Lol no it only lights up if they are checking for faults. Otherwise there's no way to tell unless you have an optical power meter.
Actually I pulled it out a bit (out of that white plastic sleeve type thing that they install on the walls) and it won't go back in. And there's no way to access its other end. I folder it and put it back in. Hope that's not a problem.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
