On a more serious note though, I was actually planning to get their service some time in July right before I leave, but they were having a promotion for GPON, with reduced installation fees.

Turns out those didn't even apply to me since it was considered a 'line restoration', and I paid absolutely nothing to get my connection back.

Just took 2 visits to the exchange and it was done.

I'll try pinging Apex servers tomorrow to check.

Fortnite (Europe) is usually around 130-140 ms.

I don't play on SEA since the pings are garbage and Fortnite SEA servers are full of Chinese aimbots.

Don't play FIFA or COD so can't comment on those.

You can see the pings of apex on homescreen where you have to press a button to continue. The option to see the pings presents it self if you wait for like 30 seconds.

So Apex pings are pretty good, around 150 to Europe (Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Belgium).

Singapore (MS Azure) is 200+ ms, whereas Singapore (GCE) is around 100-110 ms.

The other IP you mentioned is hosted in Oman, and it jumps to 180 ms at hop #13 which is within OmanTel's network.

OmanTel sucks ass, they were Transworlds upstream provider, and there were constantly some issues with them.

Normal latency to that server IP shouldn't be more than 70 ms.

Quick question, Does an open DP Box effect SNR margins? I remember I used to get pretty stable SNR margins when my DP box was closed. for the last few months since it has been left open, my SNR margins are fluctuating. Can it be wind etc are interfering with the DP Box? Does anybody have any idea? They recently replaced my copper wire to a new one but still I notice fluctuations in my SNR margins.

If it has rained recently, and the box is open, that definitely does affect it.

Moisture isn't good for the lines, and it'll cause stats to fluctuate and most probably some noise in the phone as well.

It has indeed rained recently, but what's surprising to me is, My connection was pretty stable during it rained. But on sunny days my SNR fluctuates a lot. I think it has to do with the moisture? Should I ask my lineman to close the DP box just in case?

Ask him to check your line first. If the wire is exposed or torn anywhere, that could be the cause for the fluctuating stats. Moisture getting in there is going to ruin everything.

Ask him to close the DP and make sure there's no noise in your phone line.

I doubt it is the wire cuz, they installed the new wire like 3 days ago. There is indeed a bit of noise in my line. I just tried it right now. Also, I will mention this according to my lineman the underground wire which runs to our cabinet has 3 joints in it, so no matter what the SNR margins will fluctuate is it true?

My distance from the exchange is like 1 KM max, according to google maps.

Your line should be crystal clear.

Also joints aren't ever good. Especially not PTCLs desi joints which are just some old non-sticky piece of electrical tape.

I took 3 friends who literally live 2-3 houses apart from mine. To make the complaint about the underground wire to the exchange and all we got was we will check it :v . I guess I will have to look at other ways to force the upgrade we deserve. According to lineman, the wire is like 20 years old :V

but make sure you don't have any loose joints inside your home. most of the time it is loose joints in PTCL dabi in your home

I have screwed the hell out of that dabi :V They are tight :V BTW have replaced that Dabi too countless times and the splitters, basically every single thing including the router.

Plus its not only me, its whole neighbourhood who has similar issues.
